We were invited by a friend to see Matilda: The Musical. He is in the show and it was a treat to see him perform. All the staff we encountered from the ticket takers to the concession staff were super nice and friendly. The concession lines were well staffed and moved quickly which is important with showtime swiftly approaching. This theater is easy to find with ample street and lot parking. The lobby was adorned with festive decorations for the Holiday season. The theater seating is a bit dated and cramped but all had good views of the stage. We loved the performance and were enchanted by the acting and singing and sets. The cast came out after the musical was over and mingled with family and the audience in the lobby. This theater really has a lot of love and character and it shows. We will definitely return one day and encourage others to do the same.

The theater is easy to find and there is a parking lot (pay to park) right next door. Now, I will say, the seating rows are a bit tight meaning once you sit down, no one can pass by you. You would literally have to stand up and possibly move into the isle way to let the person pass by. My advice, get a seat at the END of the isle. But otherwise, great community theater and we can't wait to go back!

She's enjoyed several theater camps in the Tacoma area and we value each for a unique culture. What I especially appreciate about TYT is how they conjure something amazing virtually from thin air. The kids have a blast. Every kid gets a good part and they are involved in all aspects of the production. It's a great little "black box" theater. The camp was a great boost for my daughter's creativity and confidence. I give 4 stars only because sometimes the TYT folks were late opening the door in the mornings. Sometimes you waited around a few minutes to drop off your child. This wasn't a big deal for me, but I can see how it would annoy some parents & caregivers.

I recently went to see a musical, Tom Sawyer, with some friends and was pleasantly surprised to see that this family theater had a "face lift". There is a seperate performing brand new building for this theater. Stadium seating with a space below that welcomes all children to have front row seating! Above the seating is where the band sits and they actually play live music for the shows! I remember coming to this community theater as a kid (now I am a adult) and they still put on a FABULOUS show! Summer months have even, in the past, offered shows outside! Another perk to this community gem, is the summer camp for kids teaching them about performing arts and of course a production for the community at the end! Great venue! Great shows! Live Music! Great price! Local community grown! Great props, stage, lighting! Great performers!!!

We were worried about getting there early to get good seats. Really you don't have to worry about that. It's a small and comfortable theatre and you will easily find a good seat. It's well maintained and clean. One complaint is that it was extremely cold. Maybe the performers need this which is fine just wear layers so you don't freeze. The theatre seems to be sort of in the middle of nowhere. We were wondering where we were going!

They invited the kids to sit up front which was nice since there is no stadium seating. My 3yo was very engaged. At the end they encouraged the kids to come and have a dance party with the Ballet cast. It was great. I might make this a yearly tradition! The theatre was intimate, charming, and clean. Nope. She needed her own 80.00 ticket. It was cheaply done, the dancers were terrible, and all I got was k owing I paid 240.00 for someone else's child's tuition while my son-in-law stayed on the lobby with my granddaughter. Really neat to see members rotate between characters to play. Maybe I will consider joining the cast, but meh. Also, prop bags tend to be missing some things and they still cost the same $5 price. This was The 4Th Annual Tacoma Craft Beer Festival at the 21st Street Park on the Foss Waterway. It…read morefeathered over 50 breweries from allover. The festival was on Labor Day weekend this year which gave it more of an issue to compete with other happenings on the long holiday weekend. As an avid beer nerd there are several things I look for in these types of events, one is is it at a place that is easy to get to and has plenty of parking and then inside has plenty of places to sit. The next is the level of literature about the beers and the breweries featured. And third the "extras" like food and entertainment. Tacoma Craft Beer Festival is at a nice park next to the Foss Waterway which has a major road that goes overhead creating a large shaded area to sit under and that creates an area for the food vendors and honey buckets to be placed. Most all of the breweries are under there own tents and are spread out among the park with almost all on the grass. The stage for the bands was placed a little further away to have more an area for people to listen and not be in other people's way. They had a good list of breweries from all over, local, national and the world. My only real complaint for this year is they did have a map of where all the breweries were in the park, they did not have a list of what each brewery was serving, (This is something every other festival does.) All in all a good summer day spent drinking a lot of good beer.

Cost was alright, $30 for 10 tastes was fairly reasonable, my only real complaint here was the additional $10 parking fee, which I felt should have been included. Beer selection was great, and we all found a new favorite from a local brewery none of us had never heard of (real ginger ale at 11% FTW). Crowd was good and setting was pretty mellow, though it might have picked up later (we left around 5). There was live music for most of the day, but they were having some issues there. First off, of the 3 bands, one was okay, one was terrible and the last seemed to be having some serious technical problems. It didn't help that the sound system was also horrible, everything sounding tinny and piercing. Logisitics also did not seem that good, it seeming to take quite awhile to swap out bands. Seeing the question about dancing below? It might have helped to lay down a temporary dance floor assuming there eventually were danceable bands playing.
