    Great views of Napa Valley
    David N.

My wife and I have made it a tradition to visit Auberge du Soleil every year during the holidays, but this year was extra special. We brought the whole extended family--including my 91-year-old mother, my siblings, and the grandkids--to celebrate New Year's with brunch. If you haven't been, the location is stunning. It's tucked away on Rutherford Hill Road, right across from Quintessa, and the views overlooking Napa Valley are honestly some of the best in the region. We were seated in our own area on the outdoor terrace, which was perfect for a large group. The food was delicious (as expected for a Michelin-rated spot) and the service was top-tier for 99% of our meal. One heads-up for the photographers out there: I ran into a weird issue regarding photos. I brought my mirrorless camera and a tripod to capture a rare family portrait with my mother. Even though we were the only ones in our section and I wasn't bothering a soul, a staff member approached me and said I couldn't use a "professional" camera. It was a bit frustrating because Auberge's own policy allows personal photos as long as you aren't intruding on other guests--which we weren't. I've never had an issue here before, so I suspect this particular staff member might have been a bit overzealous or misinterpreting the rules. It's a shame, because a little discernment goes a long way when a family is trying to make memories. The Verdict: Despite that one awkward interaction, I still highly recommend Auberge. You just can't beat the atmosphere and the French-inspired menu. Just maybe keep your camera gear low-profile if you want to avoid a lecture!

I was fortunate enough to be able to stay two lovely days at Auberge du Soleil with two great friends. We took advantage of the pools, spa, mini hikes, and restaurant. We stayed in one of the lovely villas and enjoyed the deck and outdoor bathing. We also had a private spa experience with our own hot tub, mindfulness activities, bonding activities, and theramask treatments. And champagne and fruit! We did initially have some issues arranging a vineyard visit, but the team was apologetic and fixed the issue eventually. One of a kind, memorable experience.

Came here with a party of 8, and made a reservation for the day after Christmas. They offer a 3 and a 4 course option, and I love that they allow you to flex which courses you choose (for example, I did the 3 course and did a first, second and entree and skipped dessert). The table can all independently choose, and they time the service so that courses are brought out at similar times. The top dish was the gnocchi! It was incredibly fluffy and warm, like a little pillow. I thought the risotto was okay, but loved the lamb and duck.

We visited during Napa Valley Restaurant Month and enjoyed the three-course lunch for $75 (Monday-Friday) which was an incredible value for such a refined experience. Complimentary valet parking was quick and seamless, and the hospitality was outstanding. From the host to the servers, everyone was genuinely warm, attentive, and welcoming. The food was excellent across the board: the potato leek soup with lobster and black truffle was rich and comforting, the sautéed petrale sole with lentils and orange sauce was perfectly cooked and beautifully balanced, and the ginger-poached Bartlett pear with spiced carrot cake and cream cheese gelato was a light yet memorable finish. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish, I will definitely plan a visit for dinner.

Excellent service food wine selection all was perfect. Sage - our server and the team were excellent!! Such a beautiful setting and excellent choices for food and beverage.... Wines are pricier than most Napa establishments - that's my only complaint!

Came here to the restaurant mostly for drinks for my birthday. The view of course was stunning. I had a small appetizer which was delicious and melted in my mouth. Had an early reservation.

Charming, tucked away, scenic, and romantic. We enjoyed our brunch here on this rainy Napa day and had a perfect afternoon. The food was divine, the service was excellent-no seriously Adriana my gluten free a$$ has never felt more comfortable and more secure with absolutely every choice. Everything was immensely flavorful, and Adriana was so patient with all of my questions, down to when I asked about where they got the gluten free bread not only did I get the name of the bread, location that I can buy the bread, but I was also offered countless times if I'd like to have some to take home. I can easily say this is the best restaurant experience I have ever had. I got in the car and looked up to see if the restaurant was owned by Will Guidara. And the ability to look around since we got there early for our reservation was also fantastic.

Wow! What a beautiful location. We had lunch reservations here and from the moment we walked in, everything was rightfully set! The music , service and vibes were amazing. The lunch was sooo good and they're very deserving of their Michelin stars. We would definitely be back!

Everything is consistently phenomenal! Every time we go to Napa brunch at Auberge is on the itinerary. Hard to reach perfection- they do!

Frank our server was amazing! The whole staff were over the top in a good way. We went for a belated birthday lunch. The view is the #1 reason to visit but the food is a very close second. They ask about any food allergies before you are seated. We had the vegetable crudite and hamachi crudo to start. I had the flatbread and my brother had the burger. They brought out vanilla bean profiteroles with shaved chocolate. A definite recommend for a lunch in the Napa Valley

Auberge is a rustic dream come true and it's a magnificent place to spend a Monday! I love the golf cart tour of this gorgeous property which is paradise nestled in the mountains. Should we do the 6 course tasting menu or stick to the phenomenal menu?

I had lunch and dinner at the bar restaurant during my stay. Every dish was wonderful and well plated! Portions are generous. Service was great as well!

I could not have asked for a better experience. They truly deserve every commendation. I walked up a bit early and was greeted by first name, and we were seated promptly. All menu items were explained and presented beautifully. Lovely seating on the balcony looking over the vineyards and all the food was perfect. I had a lovely recommendation for wine pairing from our sommelier. Overall everyone in my party was very content and I would definitely return. Thank you!

The lovely host took me on quick tour and had someone help me with my bags upstairs. You would be surprised how rarely that happened on our trip through Napa. The room was gorgeous. I owned my own cleaning business for 10 years and the level of cleanliness was unparalleled. The carpet was thick and the bed sheets did not have that bleach rough texture you often find in any hotel these days. The courtyard offered a pool and an amazing hot tub surrounded by lounge areas and fire pits. We spent the evening in the hot tub looking at stars and full moon, drinking some wine we picked up along the way. No glass allowed in pool area but they provided plastic wine glasses. The breakfast was sit down style and you selected a few options as part of the package. You could add on for a fee. The English muffin is to die for and domes from local bakery. We stopped at Oakville Grocery on our way and had a nice little charcuterie in our room to snack on. Highly recommend as a stop for treats it's only 6 minutes away. We walked to dinner at Rutherfords Grill that's just across parking lot. You can easily go to the winery near by as well. I will say first, from what I saw of the hotel, it is nicely appointed and has great staff. I would consider coming back just to stay. Our lunch was also pretty nice. The service was rather slow, especially since we were one of two occupied tables for most of the time we were there (mid-week), but the food was very good and fresh/healthy feeling. Now, on to the spa. I chose the 80 min peptide lifting facial for $395. First of all, $395 is a price you might pay for a full service spa. This is not that. There is a tiny locker room with a closet sized sauna in it that could fit one or two people. There is one shower and a sink to clean up in. No other facilities. Second of all, the facial was nothing special to cost that much. I have better facials at home at my local salon, and usually pay less than $100. At the end of the facial the esthetician, who had just spent the last 75 mins cleaning all the gunk off my face and out of my pores, then proceeded to put a nasty tinted moisturizer all over my face! I asked her about it at the time, told her that I do not wear makeup of any kind, and even told her I was concerned about it getting on the collar of my light grey sweater. She just slathered it on. Told me if I didn't like it I could use a tissue to wipe it off! When I went to get dressed after my service I looked in the mirror and saw that I did in fact look like a tangerine. Thankfully I had some cleaning wipes in my bag, and was able to get it all off. So I basically wiped off $395 of facial in two minutes with a cheap drug store towelette. Great. So, basically, stay at the hotel or maybe trying out the restaurant, but avoid the spa!

Love the spacious patio and his and her sinks. We spent the first day at the pool, which was very quiet and relaxing. The pool bar was closed but not an issue because you can just call the bar and they will bring you whatever you need. Also LOVE the pool top views. The grounds of this hotel are so serene, with art installations! Unfortunately, our precious Toby (fur baby) had a medical situation there and our stay was cut short. We had 3 nights planned and only got to stay 1. I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Raymond, the front office manager. You made our decision to leave an no brainer and we didn't have any stress about not staying the other 2 nights. We will forever be loyal to Bardessono, due to the love and care that was showed to us by you that morning while we were in distress. While we were sad to leave we most definitely are looking forward to the next time we come back.

Solage is nestled right on the Silverado Trail in the heart of Calistoga, and the location is unbeatable--you're basically three minutes from downtown and a short, scenic drive from St. Helena and Yountville. The property itself is stunning. It's got that modern wine-country vibe with about 100 detached studios spread across 20-plus acres. When you're sitting in one of the natural hot spring pools or hitting the cold dips at the spa, it really does feel like world-class luxury. Between the mud slides, the gravity chairs, and the fitness classes, you can easily spend your whole trip without leaving the gates. The Food: Solbar is a must. We had the seven-course New Year's Eve prix fixe with wine pairings over numerous years, and each were equally unique and incredible. It's that perfect balance of farm-to-table "health" food and total comfort dishes. For something more low-key, Picobar by the pool has some of the best Baja-style tacos I've had in NorCal. Plus, the whole place is super dog-friendly, which is a huge win for us. The Experience & Pro-Tip: Definitely book through AmEx Platinum if you can. We used the Fine Hotels + Resorts program and snagged a $300 credit, a late 4 p.m. checkout, and an automatic upgrade. I will say, even "perfect" places have their off moments. This year, despite requesting a room close to the spa months in advance (and confirming twice), they initially tucked us away at the far edge of the property. I wasn't thrilled about hiking across 22 acres in my robe and sandals! I spoke with the front desk, and the concierge actually went back and reviewed my recorded calls to verify the request. They did move us about 30 minutes later to a spot half the distance away, though it lacked the private fenced patio and fireplace of our original booking. I was too tired to keep fighting it and just wanted to get to the spa, so I settled in. Despite that hiccup, the service and the atmosphere here remain some of the best in the world. It's not cheap, but for the memories and the access to Napa's best vineyards, it's worth it every time. Can't wait to be back next year.

We went back after check in time and commented nobody text us and this lady working was much less friendly and said we only text you if your room is ready before booking- otherwise it will be ready at 4. The lodge was not very full- so it was hard to believe that there were no rooms ready earlier and if the policy is they don't take early check ins, just say that your room will be ready at 4, not let us think we are waiting for a text. When we got to our room it was a complete let down. There are a lot of room types, so do your research. We got a room with a fire place. It was December, we thought how nice to light a fire and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the night- nope fire places are for show (I did go back and it states this in the reservation- but I missed it when booking). I also think the rooms with a view were not available, but we ended up with a balcony that was right next to another buildings roof. It was really too cold to sit outside, so that wasn't as much as a deal breaker as the fireplace this time of year, but we never stepped foot on the balcony. We were unpacking and getting settled and I could not warm up. I think it was after our dinner that my husband went to the bathroom and realized the bathroom window was open, which was why it was so cold in the room. We realized that was probably open because the room was always too hot or cold. We would toss covers on and off all night long & the mattress was way too hard for our liking... the room was a nice large size. The bathroom was clean but very dated. There were nice amenities like a shower cap, face wipes, spa shampoo & conditioner etc. I am assuming because it was off season the grounds were not all that tended too- there was moss growing in the bocce ball sets- the fountains needed painting- but the outside grounds looked like it would be very relaxing if the weather was warmer. The breakfast is nice- we would go into town and get Model or Bouchon and then eat fruit from the free breakfast. Our last afternoon- we had a few bottles of wine to drink and the staff working that day were so great- they set us up in the fireplace room and we just had a great afternoon drinking wine and chatting and was a great end to our trip- what we envisioned when booking a "lodge" in early December- cozy and relaxing. The lodge is at the farthest north end of town- it's close to a few restaurants but most things are a decent walk into town. When the sun was shining it was nice, but at night with the wind it felt far. I'm not sure if we will give this place a chance again. I wanted to give it 4 stars but there was just too much that was ok to tip it above a 3/5 rating.
