The food was good but lacked finesse. My wife's seafood dish was well cooked and tasted great. However, the plate it was served upon was too small for the meal. My potato gratin tasted good but was too "wet" and should have been cooked a bit longer to achieve a crust on top and reduce the liquid a bit. Again, both dishes tasted good. We were there on a cold night. Inside it was also cold. Many customers had their jackets on; I finally put mine on about half way through the meal. The chairs were most uncomfortable! Both my wife and noticed how bad the seating was - the chairs kinda made you lean forward; they were most unpleasant. I'd eat here again but would NOT eat inside sitting on the uncomfortable chairs. If inside were the only choice we'd walk on by and find somewhere else.

As a main course I had the Alsatian Tarte Flambé white pizza (no tomato sauce) which has a thin crust, "creme fraiche" (a cross between yoghurt and sour cream) with bacon and cheese. The portions are large. The onion tart was delicious and the Tarte Flambé very good. Crowded in the evening but with good service.

It's a small menu and just about everything that's not on the prix fixe menus was out (a rabbit dish that looked great, and 1-2 other things on the menu). Entrees were good (soup and foie gras), but main plates were both underwhelming. I had two tiny fillets of fish on top of a lot of peppers while my wife had a large cut of steak which was prepared "perfectly cooked" in French which of course comes out rare most of the time per French preferences. Unfortunately this cut of meat was very tough and virtually inedible at this temperature unless cut into tiny little pieces - if it was "medium rare" by UK/American standards it would have been great but not so much when served blue. My wife left a portion of her steak, and I left quite a bit of my plate which wasn't remotely exciting or worth eating. The cheese plate however is worth getting, and my dessert was pretty good plus they had some nice glass pours to pair with both my foie gras and dessert. Prices are quite reasonable for the high end atmosphere and service, and the dining room has a nice fireplace which I'm sure is great in the winter. One couple in the restaurant apparently even left their dog with the folks at hotel/restaurant reception and then picked up their dog after finishing their meal. That's high end service, I just wish our main courses had the same attention to detail. Yet, I would still return - and hope they had the braised rabbit with spaetzle available that night...

The lasagna was among the best ever had, the leftovers didn't reheat and taste as well as it did when served fresh. I feel like the cheeseyness had to be a bechamel sauce and it was amazing, we both took what what left to go which did not sustain the standard when we ate it fresh and tasted a bit sweet due to the amount of carrots in the bolognase. We both left some leftovers to be had because the creme brulee sounded beyond delish and it did not disapoint, the flavors on that plate were the most rounded dessert I think I've had. The creme wasn't as firm as it should have been IMO but the glaor was till there and would come back here if in the area soley for this dessert. Service was sloooooowwwwww and sadly one member of our wait staff while the one who spoke the best english for conversation purposes ha some personal body odor issues that were noticed by everyone everytime he appeared in our section of the resturante. While we understand that this is more 'common' in Europe it was so strong that I was sniffing my drink everytime they approached and the European people seated around us were equally appaled by the stnech. It wouldn't detour me from returning but it was unpleasant enough it needed mentioned in a food establishment it's more unwarranted.
