We seek out this restaurant whenever we're in Paris. Their dishes are always delicious! This time we ordered the lamb tajine and the chicken couscous. The lamb was richly and perfectly flavored, tender and lean. The couscous was good, but could have used a bit more spicing. The portions were huge. The staff couldn't have been nicer, welcoming us with a glass of rose and ending the meal with a lovely glass of mint tea.

We stepped in for lunch after wandering the Latin Quarter trying to decide on a non-French restaurant. My fiancee ordered a veggie tangine (she's vegan) and I ordered the beef couscous, which is a dish that came with sauteed vegetables in a tomato sauce, a huge bowl of couscous, and chunks of beef in a separate bowl in a light sauce. The glasses of (red) wine were free. We are not drinkers though. I found my dish to be mild on flavour but still tasted very good, however as I prefer spices and a heavier taste, I doused it with the hot sauce that was on the table. I think that the vegetables had not steeped in the seasonings long enough to develop enough flavour, but the beef cubes were supple and tasty on their own. The couscous was flaky and light, probably among the best servings I've ever had. Her selection came in a very hot in a tangine clay dish. I expected it to be very tasty, but her vegetables had the same problem as mine and she needed the tomato sauce from my dish to give hers enough of a taste to even begin eating it. I thought the food to be fresh and good quality otherwise, the servings were large and good value for the money. The service was attentive, gracious, and the waiter was more than happy to accommodate our seating change, request for more napkins and to take a number of photos of us. The ambience was excellent, the place was very clean and spacious for the Latin Quarter, and the washrooms hygienic. I would risk returning despite the mild flavouring of the vegetables but I do not think this restaurant caters well to vegetarians.

We came in thinking it is a Moroccan restaurant but it wasn't. Staff was friendly till the time food was served. We ordered two lamb tajines, both of them were terrible. First one had shewy meet, frozen pees and tasteless sauce. Second one had lamb meat which had very strong smell with no sign of marinate. We couldn't eat more than a bite of each. After expressing our disappointment the manager insisted that it was just fine and said that other people ate it. He insisted to charge the full amount and he was not really listening to the complaints. Not recommended.

Morrocan Gem! I'm always leary of eating in the Latin Quarter. A lot of huck doers trying to lure you into their restaurants with mediocre food. I highly advise going ethnic here instead of "French Food", and Au Bon Couscous is one of the best. Been here since the 60s and still going strong. I ordered the veggie tagine and it did not disappoint. Being vegetarian there are good options in Middle Eastern and North African foods, and a beautiful tagine where root vegetables, lemons, peas, and zucchini are served in the traditional clay pot. Everything was cooked perfectly. Nice rich sauce with that Morrocan blend of spices that you can't quite pinpoint but taste oh so nice together. It's served with a hearty bowl of couscous which is soft, succulent, and pairs perfectly with the vegetables and makes for a really complete meal. Service was very good. We received complimentary Kir as an apertiff. Sweet wine, as you expect for Morrocan food, and it was a nice start. Only down point is that it's a little cluttered inside and the restroom needs better care especially when in such a well traveled area in Paris. However it didn't hurt the place so much and I would eat here again for sure. Nice value at €9-12 for most dishes by the way!

Algerian wine. 17 euros, so not too expensive for a decent wine

I liked the couscous. We ordered the Berbere and the Merguez couscous. Service can be chaotic. The dining room downstairs is charming but avoid being behind or near the stairway. Price is really reasonable.

The decor in here is quite stunning. You really feel like you're in Morocco with the decorations. And it's also not even that loud, which is perfect for a nice intimate dinner. Had the Kefta with Moroccan Salad and Royal Pigeon Pastilla as starters, Lamb Tagine with Seasonal Fruits and Kefta Meatball Couscous for entrées, and the Selection of Moroccan Pastries as dessert. Portions were really good and everything was super tasty. Not the absolute best food I've ever had, but I was not disappointed. Staff here are quite friendly. Even though they don't all speak English, they are very nice and helpful. And yes, they do have English menus at least. Really enjoyed Essaouira, glad I made the trip here.

Once you placed your order, they serve you traditional Moroccan Maghrebi mint tea. I liked how they put on a lil show when pouring tea, and it was delicious and warm on a cold winter day! We opted for Plat du jour (the plate of the day) & msamen nature to share, I enjoyed the couscous which was not soggy but nutty and full of flavor. It paired perfectly with the stew. Would recommend order their msamen nature, the texture was really good. The only con would be the meats, maybe we didn't order the right kind, they were a lil dry and tough. Fries were fantastic with a killer seasoning. 3) The hours are perfect for the jet lagged and up at 1:15 am ( Paris time which is 7:15 pm previous day in NY) folks with the gavone hunger pangs. Close at 2 am Thursday through Saturday. Open at 11 am daily. 4) Nice location right in the 5th district of Paris ( Latin Quarter) just south of the Siene river. Clean interior and COVID and mask compliant. 5) 2 fivers for a big ass falafel sandwich, plus a huge order of fries and a bottle of Perrier. No that's too French. Just regular agua. The employees are sweet and generous and kept piling on the toppings per my request,. Nine Euros( $ 10.20 approx) is a steal for this quality and quantity plus the excellent and generous service. Few seats inside. Just grab the two mega falafel sandwiches, walk a few yards and grab a seat next to me ( or 2 metres away ;) in this very cool district of Paris.
