We rented from Lakeway Marina for the first time on August 9, 2025, and had an excellent…read moreexperience. The staff thoroughly explained how to operate the boat, anchor, and navigate the lake, which is why we chose to return for Fourth of July weekend. Unfortunately, the difference in service was night and day. At check-in, despite having reserved and paid months in advance, we were asked not only for our reservation confirmation but also for my fiancé's bank transaction to prove payment because of the marina's history of fraudulent reservations. As returning customers, being asked to provide our personal banking information to verify a reservation was both unnecessary and wildly unprofessional. Once on the lake, we had difficulty anchoring and called for assistance. We followed the instructions we were given, but the anchor detached completely from the rope. We returned to the marina and were charged for a replacement anchor. Later, when it was time to leave, the replacement anchor became stuck. Even after two nearby boaters swam over to help, we could not retrieve it. We called the marina again, asked for troubleshooting, and requested someone come assist us. We were told no. We had no choice but to return without the anchor and were charged for both anchors and a late fee--even though the delay resulted from equipment issues and the marina declined to assist us on the water. What disappointed me most wasn't the charges--it was the lack of customer service. As renters with limited boating experience, we relied on the marina's guidance and assistance when problems arose. Instead, we were left to figure it out ourselves and then billed for the outcome. I emailed management in an effort to resolve the matter privately before posting a review and never received a response. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Lakeway Marina and will be taking my business elsewhere.

Ever wanted to epically shout, "I'M THE CAPTAIN NOW" like the Somali Pirate in Captain Phillips?…read moreWell, here's your chance. For less than $400 for 2 hours (or how ever many hours you'd like, pricing varies), you can rent a boat and seize the day! Booking is made easy online. All you have to do is choose your boat, select your day/time, complete registration, make a payment, and that's it-- you are good to go. Once you arrive to the marina, you can either park in the parking structure or in the private lot. Make sure to be as portable as possible, as it's quite a trek from the parking lot to the marina. You have to walk down steep stairs in order to arrive at your destination. For those with bad knees, you've been warned! Food and beverages are allowed (no glass), but I highly suggest trying to finish what you bring, as the journey down is always easier than going up.

I booked a specific yacht with Lake Travis Yacht Rentals about a month in advance for my birthday…read morebecause I had been on that exact boat before and specifically wanted its layout (Goldeneye). I planned my celebration around that experience. At 11am the day of my 3pm reservation, I got a call saying there was an engine issue and that I was being moved to a "better" boat. When we arrived, it was clear that it wasn't (Shaken not Stirred). It may have been newer or had a bigger engine, but it had a completely different layout and vibe, which was exactly what I booked for. If this had been the option when I booked, I would have chosen a different boat or looked at other rental companies. What disappointed me most was the response. Before I even asked about a refund or discussed any possible solutions, one of the owners immediately said, "You're not getting a refund." At that point, I wasn't asking for one. I just wanted to understand my options. That set a defensive tone instead of a customer-centered one. I completely understand that mechanical issues can happen, and I don't fault a company for something unexpected. What I do expect is transparency, empathy, and some attempt to make it right. There was no sincere apology, no acknowledgment of the disappointment, and no offer to accommodate despite the last-minute change. My friends encouraged me to go ahead so we wouldn't lose the day, and we still had fun, but that was because of the people I was with and Captain Neil, who was professional and excellent. Before we left, the owners asked us not to leave a bad review, which felt disappointing given that the focus could have been on making things right. I left feeling dismissed and like I paid full price for an experience I did not choose. I can't confidently recommend this company based on how this was handled. If you do book, I'd encourage asking up front what happens if the boat you've reserved becomes unavailable and to be prepared for the possibility of last-minute changes.

So I was all wag the tail excited to get on this boat with 30 of our closest and see what all the LaAus fuss was about. We arrived on this glorious day with nary a cloud and a cooler the size of two human bodies full of delicious beer. I hadn't actually seen a boat like this before -- it's kind of like a floating tiki bar with a spot in the middle for food, a good amount of walking around room, trash cans, a wrap around bench and some totally appropriate palm fronds hanging off the roof. Pre-boat, we busted out air pumps and blew up this huge "Caribbean Island' deal that our friend bought specifically for the occasion. It's pricey ($150) but it seats 6 and an ice chest comfortably and is basically the coolest blow up thing evar. After conferring with our really nice boat driver, and being assured that it would be safe to pull behind us, we grabbed a beer and settled back for a day of fun. But as we pulled away, a boat cleat punctured the island. We didn't actually know that had happened until we'd gotten away from the dock. With assurances of recompense and that it would be taken care of, we proceeded to spend the next 2.5 hours having a really great time -- of course with booze and buddies, that's to be expected. So why the three stars? The manager refused to assume any responsibility for the island... which was stolen after being left on the dock. The puncture was upsetting -- but fixable. Stolen isn't a fixable state. So I agonized over this review all day whilst nursing my sun hangover but the price of the boat (500 for 2.5 hours) and the way they handled the situation (badly), leaves me in a three star state of mind. We all signed a waiver and I totally get that they can't be responsible for what drunken idiots do on a boat. But this seemed like a case where the dude could have made nice, taken ownership of the situation and turned around the customer experience with a modicum of effort. However, if you're sans island, it's really a cool boat and a nice option if you're looking for more than 15 but less than 150 people. We were excited to go paddle boating, but the experience was extremely disappointing…read more The lake had so much algae that it wrapped around the paddle boat's propeller every few seconds, making it incredibly difficult to move. Instead of enjoying our time on the water, we spent most of it stopping to remove algae just so we could keep going. My biggest issue isn't the algae itself--nature happens. My issue is that the staff never warned us about the lake conditions before renting us the paddle boats. If we had known the algae was bad enough to make paddling this difficult, we never would have rented them. On top of that, one of our paddle boats had a broken piece on the hatch used to access the propeller. I personally had to go over and help my sister because she couldn't properly open and close it to remove the algae. Every time the propeller got wrapped up again, it made the process even more frustrating. I explained the situation to an employee and pointed out the broken piece. Instead of offering a solution, I was told there was nothing they could do and that she just needed to keep removing the algae and paddle her way back to the dock. Later, when she was still struggling, we were told it would cost $50 for someone to come tow or assist her. Because we were moving so slowly due to the algae, we ended up spending more time on the lake than expected and were charged an additional $16 for another 30 minutes. That extra charge could have been avoided if we had simply been told about the lake conditions before renting the boats. Instead of taking our concerns seriously, the response was essentially, "It's better in the spring." If that's the case, then customers should be told about the current lake conditions before they're charged. We could have chosen a different activity instead of paying for an experience that turned into a struggle from start to finish. Honest communication and properly maintained equipment would have made all the difference.
