I've stayed at the Atomic Inn prior, and wasn't impressed with it then and I'm sure not impressed with it after my most recent stay. This hotel can easily qualify as the most disgusting place that I've ever laid my head down at night. All of the furnishings in the room are old, dirty, and appear to have been gnawed on. A thick layer of dust covered every surface. The bed consisted of a nasty comforter, and a white sheet. I had to pick pubic hair off of the bed linen. The shower had at least 20 hairs of various length, and from various body parts stuck to the walls. There was dried blood on the outside of the shower, and near the toilet paper roll. Avoid at all cost. read more

Clean, friendly, niche themed motel in easy walking distance of every good bar and restaurant in Beatty. Staff are super helpful when on duty - office hours are roughly 730 to 1100, and 1530 to 2200, no check-ins between those hours. Happy three-electron atomic logo on every light and door, framed print of the Upshot-Knothole Grable nuclear artillery test in my room. Easy parking for trailers. The internet setup is completely clownshoes and entirely unreliable, the breakfast options are very minimal and best skipped - Mel's Diner and Gema's Cafe are close and excellent. Bathroom fans only seem to operate in the 'deluxe' rooms, and then just barely. Beyond those issues this is a great place to stay! read more

Reviews during my research for finding a place in Beatty was dominated with "dated but clean," so I booked here for one night while in the area to explore Death Valley. I don't need a fancy place, but a clean place with a comfortable bed and walls that are more than paper thin are a necessity. Next time, I will be staying elsewhere. Here are my pros and cons: Pros: - One of the cheapest places in town - Yes....dated but clean - Allows pets (for an extra fee) Cons: - I think I bothered the front clerk by wanting to check in while she was playing Candy Crush. No greeting and I had to stand there a few seconds and initiate the "hello" before she stood up to check me in - The walls are PAPER thin! Kept my headphones on all night to try and drown out the neighbors (and they weren't loud...the walls were that thin) - My room had been advertised to have a new mattress on the bed. If that lumpy thing that sloped to the middle is a new mattress, I would hate to sleep on an old one. - The sheets / pillows are super thin and the fitted sheet did not stay on. I woke up in the middle of the night to find myself sleeping on the bare mattress. - There was no hair dryer in the room (even though the website pictures show one mounted to the bathroom wall). - There is only coffee at the main office (no coffee maker in the room), where they also offer oatmeal for breakfast. However, the office doesn't open until 730 AM, so if you're wanting to get out early, you'll be getting coffee / breakfast from the gas station. read more

Three of my friends and I took a trip to Death Valley, and decided to stay at the Atomic Inn. For $50/night, I was pleasantly surprised by: 1) the comfortable bed, 2) the fresh, thick towels, 3) how quite the room was, and 4) how quickly the AC cooled the room down from the 100 degree weather. I think they did a great job on the funky atomic theme. After the visit, I looked on their website and noticed they heat the water for their laundry by solar power and dry their towels on the line. I was impressed at how nice the towels and linens were, and didn't even know they did this. I also liked the liquid soap dispensers in the bathroom - it was easy to use just the right amount and not waste the rest of a bar of soap. They offered free coffee and individually wrapped pastries for breakfast, but we went to the Denny's down the road. Also, they don't do maid service unless you ask them to, but no one bothered to tell us that. It was ok -- we didn't make a huge mess -- but it would be nice for them to let us know at check-in so we didn't come back to the room and find out that way. If you need ice, you need to get it before the office closes. Overall, I have to give them 5 stars, because really, what else can you exepct from a motel that's only $50/night? read more

I think this place is super rad. Funny little motel that feels family run. Very corky place. Staff is very nice. Can't beat the price - one room for 3 people + late fee was only $79 after tax. Highly recommend if you are passing through the area or need a place to stay when visiting Death Valley read more

Atomic Inn - Awesome place! - Hotels Near Me - Beatty, Nevada

We were quite excited to stay at the Atomic Inn, largely based on the reviews posted here. Our experience was quite negative. We arrived at 1:30pm, a sign on the office door greeted us "Will return at 3:30pm". Ok, this is Beatty, NV, no big, we made our way to a local eatery and waited until 3:30pm. We get back to the office at 3:30pm, another couple is as the counter, they entered just before us. The guy behind the desk seems rather incompetent. He cannot find their reservation and spends the next 20 minutes asking the same questions and getting the same answers from the increasingly frustrated couple until he finally announces he can indeed give them a room. Finally, it is our turn, no "sorry for the wait" but he is able to check us in quickly. Our room is rather disgusting - dirty carpet, the linoleum is literally pealing from the bathroom floor, the room smells heavily of pine sol. We are so tired we decide not to request a better room but truly are disappointed. The blanket on the bed looks extremely well used - we wonder if it has been cleaned recently but oh well! Perhaps the "deluxe" rooms are nicer, can't say. Anyway, yes, this is Beatty, NV, these are cheap rooms, but buyer beware, you get what you pay for here. There are other options in Beatty, we wish we had chosen otherwise. read more

This was a fun inn. I love the alien theme. The proprietor Cindy is a wealth of information and told me the reason behind the name and a whole bunch of other historical nuggets. Definitely a place we will come again. read more

This place does not even deserve 1 star! Stopped after a day in Death Valley and figured it would be a decent place to stay. NOT!!!! When we checked into our room it was freezing - in the 30's outside too. Only heat comes from a small space heater that stopped working after only a few minutes. When I sat on the bed I almost sank to the floor. 2 mismatched chairs , light does not work, 2 teeny tiny pieces of soap. YIKES!!! Ended up driving back home - after paying to stay the night. When I returned the key and told the young man why we were leaving his only response was a giggle! DO NOT STOP HERE!!!! read more

Best I could do here was $65/night which is more than I paid in Vegas. The room was ok, (no maid service on second day). Wifi went out a couple of times a day but they were happy to reset it when it went. I wasn't able to book a room using their web site - site was broken. I wrote them about it and offered to demo the problem while I was there but they didn't seem interested. I was able to book by phone and the counter staff all seemed direct and helpful when asked. I have to agree that it's Beatty, the town largely sucks, but that the Atomic Inn, (formerly and still signed the "Phoenix Inn"), isn't so bad, (aside from being a little high). It makes a fine base of operations for Death Valley or nearby "adult entertainment". If you come from Death Valley, it can be tricky to find as the signs all point to the other roads. And google maps on your iphone won't help you here so look up the directions before you go. read more

The experience about the room it was fine. But my husband forgot his wedding ring on the room, so we contacted them to get it back and we made the deal they can send it for free to our home but we need to write a positive review on booking.com. We did it right away but we've never got the ring back. I contacted them a couple of times and they say they send it but they aren't providing me the tracking number or taking care about what's happened with the shipping, it's more than one month since we are waiting for the ring but nothing. I wouldn't recommend this hotel after this bad experience with the service. I wish I could change my review on booking.com read more

The review is actually about the staff's friendly nature. I couldn't stay there. Last minute, I got flu and emailed the staff that I can't make it. They refunded all my money even if they have clearly mentioned that no-show fee is 1 night rent + $4.95. They reason they gave was, "there was no cancellation fees due to the circumstances that led to cancellation". Thanks guys read more

This is a really cool retro sci-fi themed motel. The rooms are standard equipped with wi-fi, refrigerators and microwaves. The rooms are good sized and they have plenty of parking. You can walk to bars and restaurants. There is also a casino within walking distance. The motel staff were helpful. We interacted with Rhonda and her father. They helped is plan out our day with local information. If you are from the city you will appreciate the night sky. There are plenty of stars for the start gazer. The mountains surrounding the town are beautiful. You can see in my picture the mountains south of the motel. read more

The check in experience was fine and the price was good ..Unfortunately the refrigerator had old cheese in it, the mattress didnt have a mattress pad, the linoleum was peeling, there was rust on the bathroom shower curtain. Only one small garbage can and no kleenex..It kind of gave the impression of staying in an old FEMA trailer..Oh and good luck with the wifi..it didn't reach our room however the t.v. worked well and so did our little heater..One safety note however I did see sparks come out of the wall plug in in the bathroom when I plugged in my phone.. read more

Friendly people but the room didn't have a hair dryer. The Internet didn't reach our room. The faucet in the shower fell apart so I didn't get a shower and they don't have an ice maker. This is in the desert. Nice beds but that is about it. We are staying in Stove Pipe Springs tonight and probably won't go back to the Atomic. read more

I hike a lot in Death Valley but don't care to stay inside the park because the hotels there are too damn expensive. I'd rather stay at hotels that are out on the outskirts of the park and just spend the money on gas driving in/out. My last trip to Death Valley was for a full week in December and I decided to try the Atomic Inn on a referral of a fellow hiker after years of staying in places West and South of the park. For a place to sleep and shower, it's great. It's not an upscale place, but it has feel and it has charm. One plus for me is that they leave you alone and will not bother you and will only come by to clean when you check out. Being a private guy and wanting to be disturbed by as few humans as possible, this was a selling point to me. The rooms have a mini fridge which is great to stock full of beer to drink after a day of intense hiking. The Wi-Fi connection is crap though, so be prepared to have a lot of "no connection" signs if you try to access the internet from your room on a laptop. But you can't beat the price of the rooms. My cost for the whole week was about $165, which is the average cost for ONE NIGHT at a hotel inside Death Valley. Granted, I hike in Death Valley during the off-season and it may be cheap because of the time of year, but this price makes staying at the place a no-brainer. And it's located in the center of town, where you have a nice selection of Mom & Pop places to eat. And given its position and close driving to Death Valley (30 mins.), I have a feeling that I'll be coming back to this place more often. read more

Really enjoy the Atomic Inn. Been there both times we've gone to Death Valley. It's clean. The air conditioners work!! It's quiet. It's affordable. It's friendly. The only things that I would change: new beds and better TV's. But for $50ish a night I'm more than happy with the experience. read more

This is at best OK. Not well maintained. It was clean. The bathroom door had a hole in it and the towels were paper thin. The beds were not that comfortable and the pillows were just as bad. The office staff was nice, although it did not open until 7:30 am so, there was no getting coffee before that. read more

I would definitely stay here again. Smartly remodeled motel. Rooms were clean and adorable (especially considering it was not much over $50 a night). The in room DVD player and the lending library of retro sci-fi movies was a nice touch. Front desk clerk (and owner?) was friendly and helpful. I'd think this was a worthy place no matter where it was, but in Beatty I'd say it's far and away the best place to stay. read more

OK, I'm giving this place 2 stars, because, as others have mentioned, the owner/manager is a really nice guy. Which, I might add, is a little off-putting, because he and the other two guys at the front desk (brothers? friends? staff? I couldn't tell) were all covered in tattoos. Admittedly, I'm from crusty ol' Puritan New England, but when I see tattoos, it puts me on edge. Anyway, our room was filthy. Apparently, our housekeeper was in the middle of "cleaning" it when we arrived. We didn't know this, of course, but when we walked in, we found a can of cat food outside our door (half eaten by... a cat?), all the lights on, the TV on full blast, and the microwave open and half-soapy. Odd. The room smelled of cigarettes and wet dog, and the comforter on the bed was stained. We decided to head out to dinner and think about our choice a little. As we were walking back to our car, I realized that I had left something in our room, so I told my wife I'd meet her at the car, turned around and went back. When I got back, the housekeeper was returning to finish her work. I must have scared her (she was unlocking our door), because she dropped everything all over the ground. While she picked things up, she explained that she had left to get a sponge, and was surprised that they had already put someone back in the room, commenting that "the communication here is terrible". I said, no worries, go ahead and clean, I just need to grab something and we're out for dinner. Instead, she hastily picked up the things she dropped (actually, she left about half of it on the ground) and immediately left without finishing her cleaning. At dinner, my wife and I decided that we would stay after all, since it was getting late, and really, the next place would be on the other side of Death Valley (we weren't on a vacation; I was helping my wife move to northern NV for school). We ended up pulling the sheets and comforter off of the bed and using our own, since we had them with us. We were alternately frozen and too hot all night, as the AC/heater unit in the room was TERRIBLE. Suffice it to say, we were out of there first thing in the morning. Again, I would have given this place one star, but the front desk people were very nice. Since it was New Year's Eve, they brought us a bottle of sparking cider at some point in the night, which was a nice gesture. Unfortunately, the place has so many other glaring deficiencies, I really can't recommend that anyone stay there unless they have to. read more

What can I say? For $61 I was not expecting anything good at all, but this place turned out to be great -- a clean room with "Atomic" pictures on the wall, very cheap, no issues with the bath or anything else. Small mini fridge and fast Internet were both appreciated. (I was expecting to find no good Internet out here at all.) It's the best cheap accommodations I've had that I can remember. read more

It seems like most of the better reviews here are based on the fact that the room cost half as much as the resorts they stayed at in Las Vegas. For what you get the rooms should have been much cheaper. We stayed in the "deluxe" room which was in a converted doublewide. The pictures make it look like a pull in motel. That's only for the 4 rooms on the street side. The rest of the rooms have ally's to get between the doublewides and unattractive metal staircases to enter your room. I already knew about the 20 inch tv's so that wasn't a surprise. We got to watch cartoon network for about an hour before the station stopped coming in. Our room had a fridge and microwave. (the fridge froze everything we put in it, despite being set to the warmest setting) The heater was a plug in electric thing that wasn't on before we checked in despite our calling ahead for a reservation. It took all night to warm up the room to where we didn't need to wear our jackets. I never saw any breakfast in the lobby, only really bad coffee. It was a place to stay, and the atomic images were nice in a cheesy kind of way. But I won't stay here again, the rooms just don't justify the cost and it seems like a boarding house for people working temp jobs in town. read more

Loved our stay. So much fun and a great deal for the price. Only 3 stars because the DVD player did not work and we had to move our room because of noisy crickets! The staff is lovely and accomodating. Great jumping off point from Death Valley! read more

If you wanna save lots of $$ when visiting a Death Valley, stay in Beatty, NV. It's about a 35-40 minute drive off the 190 to DV. The town is small and quaint, around 5 small budget hotels to stay in. We chose the Atomic Inn, booked the Deluxe room #8 and it was just fine for our short 3-day trip. Grant it, there are no frills here. You get a basic room and that's about it. It was clean and was nice that it was all one level (no one above or below you) and pretty smoke-free (they advertise it being completely smoke-free but people most likely have smoked it it before, not a super smokey bad smell but you know how it goes with motels). The staff was super friendly too!! Highly recommend it, but don't expect any extras...like ice, coffee maker, blow dryer. There is a gas station right at the corner for ice and all your other needs plus the gas is way cheaper here in Beatty. So fill up there before you head out on your drive to Death Valley. Will save you lots!! Oh...for breakfast go to Mel's Diner and for dinner try the Sourdough Saloon. They make a mean pizza. Enjoy your visit to this quaint little historic town!! read more

This is a funky place in a funky town. Stopped in for the night before heading into Death Valley. Great place with lots of quirkiness. Fun after a day in Death Valley. Comfortable , friendly staff and cute room. Loved the alien theme!

I never got a chance to experience any part of this motel but the terrible customer service. And barely even that, since they decide to renege on agreements they offer. The previous week I contacted this hotel and spoke with someone, Cindy or Sandy(?), about booking a room. I explained I was coming down to experience the area's mountain bike trails and I would be traveling over three hours with my dogs to the location. While the person stated dogs were not an issue we did discuss the check-in time. They stated it was 330pm and I mentioned that wouldn't work for me because of the dogs and how I wouldn't want them to be in a hot car. She stated they could work out an earlier check-in time and she told me to give them a call when I left town and they would see about having the room ready so I could check in. It seemed to be a very pleasant conversation and I made a reservation for 08May18. On this date I stalled as much as I could to arrive not too early but still have time to get in some trail time before the end of the day while having a cool place for the dogs. Whoever I spoke to on this date was somewhat rude when I called and made it seem as if it would be a huge imposition for me to arrive early. Since it was their staff that stated this offer to which we agreed I was taken aback by the rudeness this morning. But they told me the room should be ready at or shortly after the time I told them I'd arrive, at around 100pm. I drove the three hours to Beatty and, when I arrived early, I did a few other things to try to kill time to arrive at the time we'd agreed that morning. I arrived at the hotel and went to the office which had a "CLOSED" sign and the door was locked. I checked and I arrived a little earlier than one pm. I left and did a few other things and returned a little after one pm. The office was still locked and 'closed'. I went to an area in town where I was told I could walk my dogs, just to let them out for a little bit - but after three hours in the car they also needed water and someplace cool. I returned again at 1:15pm. Still closed. Still locked. I came back at 1:30 pm. Still closed. Still locked. I came back again at about 1:40. Still closed. At this point my dogs had been in the car for over four hours, I had no place to take them where they wouldn't have to spend another two hours in the hot car. Which meant that I had to turn around and drive home, cancelling every other plan I had in the area because I couldn't justify keeping the dogs in a hot car for another two hours when there was an agreement that was already forty minutes broken. So staff at the Atomic Inn, thank you for a 400 mile trip, wasted. Thanks for the planning and coordinating of a trip, wasted. Others may review your customer service as 'wonderful' but when a business makes an agreement with customers and then doesn't even have the courtesy to even notify the customer they're going to renege but simply 'ghost' their way out of it? I find that deplorable customer service. I'll make sure to never make the mistake of trying to send any business your way either. Since your customer service is a complete waste. I did see in another review that the office is closed from noon to 330. Which is just...incredibly...a motel office that closes for most of the afternoon? How stupid is that? But the problem is, if the staff was aware that they were closed during the time they stated would be okay for my arrival and check in, they why didn't they say so and save me the drive? read more

I really liked the people. The website shows a great sense of humor. They have a board game and paperback library in the lobby. There weren't any bugs, bed or otherwise. Those are the pros. Unfortunately, even though it's cheap, this place is not a good value. It's the worst motel I've stayed in in the United States. It's not bad compared to some of the places I've stayed in Central America and Asia. Our room wasn't clean. There was evidence that our toilet had been used--smells and smears. The room itself was basically a trailer with a space heater and no blanket. (Sheets so cheap they're transparent, check. Bedspread, check. Blanket? No. Wifi? Not in our room, but really that was the least of my worries.) This is the only place I've stayed in Beatty, which we visited because we were going to Death Valley. If the Motel 6 here is anything like the ones I've stayed in, I'd go there instead. read more

We went to Death Valley National park for 2 days and checked about the reviews for the nearby hotels. Atomic Inn seemed to be the best option according to these reviews for the sake of our budget. I must say we made a great decision. Atomic Inn is not a fancy hotel but has everything you need for the trip to Death valley. All the people we met are friendly and always want to give you any information you may need. The room is large enough for our family and very clean. The bed is comfortable. It is quite at night and what you will hear might be the frogs in the nearby river. Unfortunately on our way back to LA, we found that my wife lost her watch on the floor. It was a $300 watch as a gift from a close friend. We called the hotel and told them to mail it back on our cost. Right after 1 week, we got it in our mailbox which was nicely packaged. The watch is still clicking. The postage is about $3 and obviously the hotel has already paid for that. What should I say? What you can expect from a hotel at this price level? I will definitely come back again for my next visits..... read more

I was happy to see the good reviews for this place. I stayed here in January, and I've been meaning to write a good review for the Atomic Inn. If you want 3 kinds of scented soaps and a heat lamp in the bathroom, and bathrobes hanging in the closet, Las Vegas is about 120 miles south. Compared to the surrounding area, Beatty is the heart of civilization. There are several hotels in town, along with the casino, the 24-hour Denny's, and a few other basic necessities. You could easily drive an hour in any direction, and not see a gas station, restaurant, or even a Coke machine. If getting away from it all doesn't appeal to you, then you best be movin' on to the big city. Having said all that, I must admit that I rely on modern technology. Being self-employed, I need to check on my business at least once a day, even on vacation. The wireless signal was good at Atomic, comparable to most 'city' hotels. Also, I found I could get a cell phone signal near the casino and gas stations in town, about 2 blocks away. I've stayed at several places in Beatty over the years, and Atomic is at the top of the list for me. read more
