If you find yourself near Death Valley and don't really care for California, do yourself a favor and stay here. This place is eccentric, but clean! Our room was clean in all aspects and has been maintained well. I really appreciated the 2 different space heaters as I underestimated how cold it would be at night. The pillows were all different levels of plush. I didn't like the bed, but I'm not accustomed to sleeping on springs anymore because of my hips. Do not let the bed deter you though because I'm high maintenance with beds. My big hang up in hotels is cleanliness and this is a great example of it. I only interacted with the staff once and she was very friendly and exceptionally grateful for our business. Beatty is a small town, but a hidden gem...with burros and not in California! Go to Death Valley but stay and eat here!

The Atomic Inn is definitely an experience you should not pass up! It's definitely not fancy by any means but the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The managment team was very friendly and helpful, and their 4 legged security team was very thourough with thier doggy greatings. We did have an unusual visitor, but we came prepared "just in case" (see photo). We absolutely will stay here again if we ever find ourselves in the Beatty/Death Valley area again!

I was very pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this gem while looking for somewhere to stay on my boy to the Grand Canyon. Booking was simple and quick. When I arrived I was greeted by a smiling face and given recommendations on places to eat on my drive. Upon checking out I was offered tea coffee and oatmeal and told her to drive safe on my way. My entire experience with the atomic and has been wonderful wonderful customer service and perfectly clean rooms. The Decour is very art deco and retro with cute subtle atomic symbols hidden in the rooms.

The Atomic Inn is a clean, affordable location off the highway in a quiet neighborhood, but still close enough to walk to local restaurants. I have stayed now in three locations in Beatty and I like this one the best. The office staff helped me with my unusual little request to be able to stay in a room near my parked vehicle.

I vacillated between one and three stars. In the end, as my cousin pointed out, we paid a grand total of $116 for three nights, and shouldn't complain. Ok, no *complaining*, but here are some notes which I hope future visitors (and also, motel management) will find useful: - Despite the 3 big signs proclaiming "Phoenix Inn", this place is officially the Atomic Inn. Well, I guess it's technically both; they are saving up the $60,000 to replace the signs, but have put the new logo on everything from the lampshades to the room doors. - However, perhaps those funds could have been better spent elsewhere, like on fitted bedsheets? Or, if you must go with flat sheets, iron out those pesky house-keeping problems so rooms are actually cleaned. - I stayed for 3 nights right after Thanksgiving (Friday-Monday); the motel was solidly booked, and they had a major labor crisis. Two house-keepers quit, and their replacements weren't really up to speed. So our room wasn't cleaned once during that whole time; the last night, I picked up fresh towels and took out the trash myself. - Jerry, the manager, was pretty contrite. I like the guy; he has way more tattoos than your typical motel employee, but seems genuinely invested in improving the motel (I think a number of rooms are being remodeled, some even with flat-screen TVs). I understand that hey, sometimes everything that can go wrong *does* go wrong. But, as I told him, a heads-up can go a long way towards placating your customer. - Honestly, the other employees (besides the disgruntled housekeeping staff) seem way less competent than Jerry; they're cheerful but careless. I asked on Saturday morning if the lone bathroom towel hook could be fixed; when I checked Saturday night, the desk staff played the "no one told me" game. The maintenance guy then told me he would take care of it Sunday. Sunday night, my cousin and I bet on the chances that the hook would be fixed and the trashcan would be empty; neither of us liked the odds, and we were right. - Look, I understand that for less than $40/night (thanks to stay-2-get-1-free), I should just be grateful that I got such a good deal for a relatively comfortable place to stay while exploring Death Valley. But for some reason -- maybe because the motel staff are all young and atypical employee demographic -- also, because the Atomic Inn logo calls out to my inner nerd -- I want them to do well. I want them to be that charming, local, funky place that woos travelers away from the generic Motel 6. So my overall advice is to follow through on your promises, and communicate in advance if you can't. Don't say you serve breakfast, and then run out by 7:15 AM, or tell me that no one brought anything that day at all. Don't tell me my room has a flat screen if it doesn't. Seriously, I don't have a problem getting my own breakfast elsewhere, and I sure didn't come to Beatty to watch TV. It's just that I don't like getting wrong information. Okay, now that I've gotten all that out of my system, let's reinforce the good points. You will get a clean and comfortable room -- the beds are actually really comfortable -- and it will be very easy on your wallet. True, you will be about 30 miles from the heart of Death Valley National Park, but you will pay only one-third (or maybe one-half) the cost of getting a room in Furnace Creek Ranch or Stovepipe Wells. So ... while I probably will not return to the Atomic Inn, I would urge you, oh faceless Internet researcher, not to discard the Atomic Inn out of hand altogether. Give them a chance. And then go explore the wonders of Death Valley.

While doing another southwest road trip, we stopped here again for one night, after cruising through Death Valley. This place NEVER disappoints. For the inexperienced traveler, you need to realize that you're in the middle of nowhere, Nevada. Surely you can sacrifice one night without Judge Judy on a flat screen tv, or a wifi connection for your facebook updates. These are the only decent and well priced accomodations just outside of Death Valley, lest you drive another 45 minutes to Pahrump, or another 90 minutes to Vegas but why in the world would you do that, when you can spend a night in the middle of the high desert, in a town with a population of about a 1000 and wild burros roaming the land? Wake up early the next morning and go for a little hike, past the cottonwoods, to the top of the red rock, located behind the inn. Great views of Beatty from up there and a nice morning breeze to boot. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms and some decent vittles within 50 steps of this joint. Unfortunately, the cute little coffee shop on the corner didn't survive this past winter. Too bad. We were looking forward to a strong cup of joe. At least the Rebel gas station provided double barrel coffee, to jump start our day. Good times in the high desert.

Wow - far better than expected. I'm a fan! There is two maybe three important factors to the stars in this review. 1. DIRT CHEAP. 2. this is in a town where the casino's featured restaurant is a Dennys. 3. The rooms in the front is fairly good and really not as bad as expected. Oh and when I first looked on yelp, the BEST hotel in town proudly featured 2.5 stars. So there you have it.. 5 stars to the Atomic inn. I enjoyed my stay, and it was far better than feared, whats not to like.. (ah the WiFi feels like its connected to a dial-up line) While in town make sure to walk down (or up) the street and have a burger at the Sourdough Saloon.

Cindy's collection of ceramic houses located in the lobby. So beautiful.

I just needed an email confirming that I canceled this reservation for travel insurance purposes and called to ask him if he would send that email to me. He agreed and took my information. I waited 24 hours to follow up when I hadn't received that email and to email him the next day, to make it easy for him to just respond to the email (something like yes this reservation has been cancelled would have worked fine for me, but after not getting an email response the next day, I called back to ask verbally again. He was extremely agitated right off the bat immediately after picking up the phone, recognizing my voice from previous calls, and sounded so irritated when I asked if he could respond to my email or send one out and he yelled "Look, I sent out the email yesterday. If you didn't get it, I don't know what to tell you. I've spent enough of my time on your reservation in the first place!" AND HUNG UP ON METhat was that. I don't understand how someone in the hospitality industry could act so hostily. l had plans to return there after canceling, but now I have no such intention just based on that experience (I guess I'll have to assume he feels the same about me). The only noise I heard outside of my room was an occasional door slamming shut in a nearby room. The place wasn't busy, so I could have just been lucky about the low noise level. The hotel was clean including the elevator and stairwell. There was a strong smell of cleaners in the common areas, but not too much in the room (which I appreciate). The beds were average comfort (not bad by any means, but not great). The room had vinyl floors (big reason I like Motel 6), a decent sized shower tub, a mini-fridge with a freezer shelf inside, a microwave, good air conditioning, a sliding window, blackout curtains, and 1 chair. The TV was rather small for the room (maybe 32"), no closet, no dresser drawers, there's a short clothes rack on the wall with a few hangers, plenty of shelf space to store clothes, no iron, no coffee maker, and no facial tissue. They provide standard toilet paper, bar soap, ice bucket with liner bag, plenty of clean towels, and disposable plastic cups. The town is great and I will be staying here again on my next trip to Death Valley. Ryolite ghost town is really cool (definitely more to it than you see in online videos). The burros roaming the town are very charming. My dog enjoyed the local park. Food options are good (I had Mel's diner, Smokin J's BBQ, and Happy Burro Chili). What really won me over was the people of this town. The locals are very friendly and willing to help if you're in need. After off-roading the previous day in Death Valley, my truck decided to have a pretty nasty suspension failure when I was leaving the next morning. The nearest towing service in Amargosa was booked for the day and couldn't help till the next day. Locals seen my situation and came to the rescue with the tools I didn't have on hand and helped to get me back on the road. I was able to drive home with no tow or expensive repair bill. Thank you Beatty!!!
