I went in to see Lilly about a year ago, and after discussing what hair extensions should be like with other stylists, I have finally decided to leave some feedback.
I have been damaged from my experience with Lilly. I always wanted extensions and was sick of the clip in kind. I didn't know what to expect as it was my first time getting extensions.
I e mailed her about a consult. Upon arrival the shop was locked. 15 minutes after the scheduled meeting time she showed up and apologized for being late. During the consult I explained to her what I wanted, and the color I wanted as well. I asked her how much it would be and she quoted me somewhere around $500. I was shocked and told her that I would like to keep it under $400 if that was possible. She said it wouldn't be a problem. I asked if there was anyway I could bring in some hair I purchased myself, and she told me she would charge the same amount, so I trusted her to handle the purchasing of the hair. I scheduled the appointment with her.
On the appointment day I showed up on time and I had to wait about 30 - 40 minutes for her to finish up with the person that she was working with.
She showed me the extensions and they were in a nice box. They seemed nice, but in retrospect I wonder if she just re-used a nice box and threw some bad extensions in. She kept talking about how great the box was. Her next appointment came in before she was finished. The entire time she was rushing to get it all done. When she was pulling the hair extensions out of the box they got a bit tangled and she was combing thing pretty roughly to straighten them out. She put a total of about 5 wefts in varying sizes in my hair. Another thing I thought was weird was that she used beads but left the wefts on. I was expecting to get extensions with just the beads and not the stitched weft part. She said it would hold the hair in better.
The coloring was... interesting. On some parts of my hair she put color in without washing it out. I don't know if that's normal. The color ended up not being what I had asked for, but I liked it anyway and it was close enough.
After she was finished I looked at it a bit and got out of the way for her next customer who had been waiting about 30-40 minutes. SHE CHARGED ME $460. I couldn't believe it. After we had agreed on under $400, she charged me $460. I didn't know what to say or do because I was so shocked so I just payed it.
After I got home I was in tears. The hair was so thin and there was so little of it - not worth what I payed for. Not even worth the original price we agreed upon. My heart sunk. I felt so terrible that I spent so much money on something that I wasn't even happy with. I had to use old clip in hair extensions to thicken it up so it blended better.
The worst part is the hair in the extensions were falling out when I brushed it significantly more than my clip in extensions. I got my clip-in's off e bay for $80 and those held up better than the garbage ones she put in my hair. When I took out the extensions I compared them to the clip in ones, and the difference was sad.
To this day I am horrified of getting taken advantage of by hair stylists, and it's really not fair. I never called to complain, I just ignored her e mails to try and get me in there again. I wasn't surprised to find a similar review.
Now that I have finally left this review maybe I can get past the bad experience I had at this salon. read more
