It's literally around the corner from the pantheon and we felt safe and it's central to just all the other sites The employees were friendly and the place was clean and they had a vending machine for water which was much needed and they had a little lunch room area with seating which was nice to have Overall it's good value I say Could it be better? Yes but it's not horrible like some folks say lol

The place was clean (although the main hallway - shared with actual tenants/businesses - reeked of cigarette smoke). Our room was clean. The bathroom seemed new. No frills or thrills (unless the bidet counts?!). Just a stone's throw from the Pantheon, across the street from a Michelin-starred restaurant, this hotel felt 'European' and a bit 'historic'. Only found out last-minute about local taxes/fees (which, to be fair, was a 'thing' at each place we'd stay throughout our vacation) - but they could only be paid in cash? Major issues: walls were paper thin and a family right next to us (with a toddler) made sure to have a lively conversation that went on late into the night. And without any type of fan or central air we had to open a window just to get some (cool) air and now it's deafening between the constant traffic (cars and walking tourists), busboys throwing out recycling at some ungodly hour, the polizia in hot pursuit, you name it. Probably our worst sleep while in Italy. (Cool/friendly staff, though.)

The biggest negative about this place was a super small shower with a slippery floor in it, I slipped and fell once as I stepped out of it--so be careful. The breakfast was well stocked no matter what time we came down and the staff was friendly. It had some meats, cheese, cakes, croissants, coffee, and juices. They arranged a flat rate 45 euro taxi to the airport for us which was perfect.

While the location remains convenient, the qualities that made this property more interesting to me…read morehave deteriorated since my last stay. For one thing, the in-house breakfast service has been eliminated in favor of a voucher system at a nearby café. There is nothing wrong with that café but it is inconvenient to need to leave the hotel to have the first coffee. Inside the room, everything worked but the surfaces are quite worn and distresses. In my room, there was a kitchenette that seemed to be in some state of disrepair. The front desk staff is friendly enough but seems to be hesitant to answer questions directly preferring to "get back to you." In all the property is acceptable but there are better places very nearby at similar price.

My wife and I stayed at the RC 7-8 years ago, and had such a great experience that we rejected the La Dolce Vita associated hotel La Minerva in favor of returning this summer for our holiday that started in Rome. Some notable personnel - Nicola - front desk - provided great assistance with our needs for cash exchanges, adapter use and a very surprising tour of our upgrade to the Penthouse. Serena - Imperial Club - friendly, and energetic. Attended and anticipated our needs, such as private car service due to taxi strike. Annamarie- front desk - attentive, friendly and walked us to the outdoor restaurant one evening. Matteo - coordinated receipt of an important package for my wife. Many others contributed to this brief, but memorable stay. Congratulations on assembling a great team! We hope to return again in the future.

The company sent a 10-passenger van instead of a sedan. A taxi would have been more comfortable, a shorter walk from the terminal, and half the price. When I complained to the hotel, they said the van was the same price as a Mercedes sedan so I would be charged the same. This seemed like a bait and switch to me. Had I known the vehicle would be a van, I would have taken a taxi.

Nearby are some quiet, family restaurants (one called Romolo nearby was my favorite) and the house offers breakfast each morning, which, based on my travels through Italy, is fairly standard if not better than most lodging in Italy. So to start: it's a great jumping point for your stay in Rome because the location is good, the building is clean & safe, staff go above and beyond, and breakfast is included. Now, Domus Carmelitana was recommended to us by a friend who grew up in Rome. He had previously studied to be a priest at the Vatican before eventually leaving and moving to the United States. Domus was a wonderful recommendation because, being born and raised there, he knows what he's talking about. When we arrived on the train from Venice to check in, the front desk had a package of delicious treats from a nearby bakery (I don't know the name, but it is no more than a few blocks away and they wrap their treats in a beautiful bright blue and gold wrapping) and a letter waiting from our friend. They were extremely gracious and welcoming to us, and our friend actually seemed to know the staff (not sure if he did or not) Our room was small, but average by Italian room standards, and had a private bath. There is a wonderful rooftop terrace available to guests that features views of both St. Peters as well as the Castel. In short, Domus was a great stay with friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms, and decent amenities all in a great location. I would unquestionably stay there again next time I visit Rome.
