Great place to go workout. Trainers and owners are awesome. Friendly environment and up to date equipment with a lot of space for training.

After 250 classes, the obsession has turned into a lifestyle. Pure Barre is a great workout and a…read moregreat community. There are three different types of workouts all meant to achieve "lift, tone, and burn" during your class. Pure Barre Classic is a barre class that focuses on tiny movements. I love how low impact it is! It made it safe and easy to get back to regular workouts and I have seen many pregnant women able to handle the majority of the class. One of the instructors carried twins to full term and was doing Pure Barre nearly all the way to the end! That is how gentle it is on your body! Pure Empower is a cardio workout with a platform involved. It really gets my heart rate up and I get into the awesome music mixes they play. Pure Reform is a Pilates style class using resistance bands. It was really a game changer in improving my shoulder and arm tone, in particular. It is an excellent total body workout too. All the teachers are great! They each have something that is unique they bring to class. I never even consider what teacher is teaching I just take the class time or format I want because everyone is really fun. You can really tell they all love Pure Barre too. The studios were recently refreshed and the vibe is light and energizing. Each class finishes with a nice stretch and cool down that lets me have a few moments of zen "me time". There are challenges and monthly goals you can sign up for to keep you accountable. They have classes all day starting as early at 5:30am and as late as 6:30pm they recently added a second lunch hour class for those that take a later lunch. The workouts really feed on each other, so you are constantly improving which helps keep you motivated and interested in your workout. I wish I had found out about Pure Barre years ago but I am so glad it is in my life. Give them a try!

Me and my niece Jada tried the foundations class for the first time and we loved it! Our instructor…read moreSara Kaye was so helpful and kind. She was able to explain all the movements and assist (time after time lol) with fixing our movements to ensure we were during the exercises correctly and precisely. She made us feel very welcomed. Definitely recommend trying out this course.

No frills, no nonsense, no air conditioning, no cold water, no excuses gym. No problem. I called first. The owner answered with hello. Not Top Dog, nothing but hello. Cool...is this Top Dog? He says yes. No big deal. I ask about the class that afternoon. Explaining that I'm in town temporarily and typically go to Orange Theory, does their class compare? He says there are many similarities, though no treads and I can work at my own level. First visit is free, so I take the chance. Parking is bad. It is a pot hole laden lot behind the building. They have a large storefront that looks like it is closed. So go to the back and up the steps. Obese in, I find the guy in charge. Told him I was here for the class. He said I'd likely be the only one there so he would explain the work out. Great. The workout is written in chalk on the walls. Very cool. He runs through the workout with me and then, I'm on my own. Now, understand I walked in and knew I wasn't in a jazzercize class. I did not expect them to hold my hand. That being said, the guy that was in charge, did keep one eye on me. Occasionally checked on my progress. He corrected my form on a few exercises and was available when I needed him. I deducted a star for not ending the 'class' with a guided stretch and deducted a star for the advertising a class that really isn't a class. It's more of a workout guide that was really challenging but doable. When I think of a class though, I think of a bit more attention and someone motivating you throughout. Being I was the only one there, I understand why he continued to do his own workout...but, not a class. BUT...as I said in the beginning. This college town gym isn't looking for soccer moms that are looking to tone up. If I was a college guy or gal looking for a place that would challenge me, this is perfect. AND, I would go back! I was incredibly sore. I did some of my own stretching, but not enough. The workout was AWESOME. It just isn't a class.

The atmosphere is extremely cliquey, making it uncomfortable for new members to feel included. The owner, who claims to be a the greatest ever at Florida State, lacks professionalism and respect, especially toward younger female members. Instead of fostering a supportive fitness community, he seems more focused on personal attention and unnecessary drama. If you're looking for a gym where you can focus on your health and fitness without distractions, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
