Everyone here is family, they support and listen to you. Someone is always ready to help teach you, whether it is in the martial art or in a life lesson. Here, you can learn at your own pace with the perfect amount of push behind it. I was very shy when I began here; no one ever judged me for it or forced me to participate- they allowed me to take my time and learn things the way I needed to. Our Sifu [see·foo] (teacher) teaches in a multitude of ways. He lectures and demonstrates and even provides literature. He teaches values and honor, along with providing one hell of a work out! What you learn are good skills for developing you inside and out, deeply, spiritually and athletically. Skills learned here can even transfer to self defense! If anything, try it at least a couple times- it's definitely worth it.

It feels just like a family, the setting is very open and relaxed. People of all levels train together and teach one another, so there is very little pressure. Moy Yat is a great place to learn not only martial arts but also how to become more comfortable and confident with yourself. The Sifu puts his heart into this school and helps everyone feel like a part of the family. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

Although I should have written this review a long time a go, now seems like an appropriate time to…read morefinally get this in the books. My son has been a student at MAFA for about three years and just received his first degree black belt last night. The belt may be a great symbol of what he has learned during this time but the life lessons he will take away from the overall experience is truly priceless. MAFA is not only a school for martial arts but they also offer an after school program including transportation from several local schools and summer camps (winter and spring vacation camps are also offered). The facility is always clean, organized and most importantly secure. Master Chad Wilbur and his wife Leisha are simply amazing people and have treated us like family. Master Wilbur is also a 6th degree black belt and certified HaganH (Israeli self defense) instructor. They offer classes for virtually all ages from the little ones (tiny tigers) to adults. We started our son at a different martial arts school down the road and always felt like we were being pressured to spend more money or always bring other friends of our child to sign up, so we left and switched him over to MAFA. They never make you feel pressured to do anything you don't want to take part of or purchase things you don't really want or need. This may sound a bit cheesy but I'm always inspired when I watch a class that Master Wilbur is teaching. I'm always amazed how consistently positive his approach is and how the kids respond to him. Not only is he amazing but MAFA has a total of four "master instructors" on staff (you won't find this level of instruction anywhere else in town) and they all teach with the same approach and enthusiasm. A quick story that will tell you all you need to know about Master Wilbur...last night, one of the kids was getting presented with his second degree black belt and for some reason his new belt had not arrived yet. During his belt presentation, Master Wilbur apologized to everyone there and let the young man wear his 6th degree belt until his new belt arrives...what an amazing gesture! If you have children or are an adult that is interested in martial arts, you can do no better than the overall experience that MAFA will provide you.

Unprofessional Handling & Poor Communication,no refunds…read more I'm writing to express my deep frustration following a troubling interaction at Gallop's Family Center on Industrial Plaza Drive. * Broken promises: I called at 10:00AM today requesting a meeting with a supervisor about my child's camp experience. I was told they would call me back after 12:00PM--but they never did. There was a timeframe window of 12-3 pm the person to call me would be available. * Unacceptable short notice: Arriving in person at 12:45pm, I was abruptly offered a meeting with only 15 minutes' notice (a 1pm meeting), totally ignoring the fact this was meant to include another parent. When I pointed out the short notice, the only alternative was Monday at 11:00AM; earlier times that were verbally mentioned disappeared. * Hostile treatment: Returning to confirm I was still waiting, I was met with accusations of being "demanding," spoken to disrespectfully, and told to leave the premises, even though my child wasn't onsite. * Refund refusal: Their staff refused any refund--citing that "everything goes through the app." When I requested follow-up via email, they refused. * Inconsistent and dismissive: This entire experience revealed serious disorganization and a worrying lack of care--especially concerning from a center trusted to care for children. It's incredibly disappointing to see a center with such positive praise for being "family-like" and "community driven" publicly fall short in delivering basic respect and professionalism.Until they improve communication, transparency, and courtesy, I cannot recommend them.
