My husband and I went back and forth about spending the money to hire someone for day of services, but we both agree: it was the number one most important purchase we made towards our big day. We got married 3 weeks into my 3rd semester of nursing school, and I can honestly say that I think I would have had multiple mental break downs if it wasn't for Katie. Any time any issue, big or small, would arise, she handled it with grace. My father-in-law still talks about how amazed he was by her. In his words "she just did not stop". And she kept a smile throughout the entire thing! There were numerous times Katie help me destress about all the little stressors planning a wedding brings on. Since we hired such an awesome coordinator, I was actually able to enjoy my wedding day with all my bridesmaids. My only job that day was to focus on getting pretty for my soon to be husband while enjoying celebratory mimosas with my closest girlfriends. Apparently, there were several snafus (problems with sound at the ceremony, issues with the reception site allowing alcohol outside, etc...) the day of, but I didn't have any idea until days later when my husband filled me in. Katie and her team took stressful situations head on (including difficult family members), and made the most special day of my life stress free (for me ;) ) Katie wears many hats, as she was also my florist! She designed all of the bouquets for me and my girls, flower crowns for the bridesmaids and flower pins for me, the boutonnières for the men, and all the flower arrangements at the ceremony and reception. I can not thank Katie and her team enough for making our wedding what it was. We could NOT have done it without her. She kept the entire wedding planning progressing, helped us work through difficult challenges as they arose, and became our number one confidant and trusted friend throughout the process. On the wedding day itself, Paige was incredible. She was like a blur being everywhere at once, making sure guests, vendors and ourselves were properly cared for throughout the day (she brought us food and drinks, learned how to weave our table decorations (literally because I saw it on Pinterest), fluffed my train... she literally did it all!!). A lot of places weren't quite the right fit, had too many weird restrictions, or were overpriced (if your've looked at venues you know what I mean!) The Castle House and Gardens was the last place we looked at and we knew it would be the most perfect, picturesque and enchanted woodland setting for our outdoor wedding. It has lush, wild gardens that remind me of the Secret Garden. There's a beautiful redwood grove where we had our ceremony and a poolside courtyard with two outdoor fireplaces, perfect for dining and dancing, where we had the reception. It was great to have the ceremony and reception at the same place. The Castle House is a historic estate located in the Santa Cruz Mountain Community of Bonny Doon. It's bordered by beautiful redwood forests and just 10 minutes from the ocean. The family that lives there were the most gracious hosts for our event and went to extra care to make sure the grounds looked stunning on our wedding day. They own the Bonny Doon Garden Company and grow all of the flowers for their floral design business organically in their home gardens. It was really cool because my bouquets and centerpieces all came from the garden where I got married! We got so many compliments about the venue from our guests and everyone kept asking me, "How did you find this place?" I definitely recommend this place to other brides if you are looking for a unique, non-cookie cutter type venue full of natural beauty and rustic charm.
