I lived in Deep Creek since 1973 and I have never visited this park. I was pleasantly surprised…read morethat my Sister and I ran into other Creekers who were also there with their children for the first time. I loved the displays and the information about the Enslaved People who dug out the swamp to allow others to navigate the waterways. I was so happy that we went on a brisk day when the bugs were laying low. HeeHee! We were able to walk around and look at the dock, the farm house, and a few other out buildings for the farm area. Very interesting that they were families that still lived next to the swamp area. The parking lot is well-kept and free. We found a few places to sit and eat, as well as a few water fountains for visitors. Everything was clean and tidy. We enjoyed listening to the water. Very nice visit!

I've been thinking about it for a while and it fit right into my timeliness this week visiting Machicomoco and Kiptopeke State Parks. I got here and it was all paved. Bikes and pet walkers. I expected some dirt trails and pine needle tails and smelly water to brave through. Cattails or pussy willows if you prefer. Instead I got hard pavement and dogs. I did walk a little ways out. It just wasn't my thing. Cheers to the people who bike and pet walk here. If you pick up poo, put the bag in the trash. Why pick it up if you try to anonymously drop it further down the trail?

My wife and I have been sailing a few years on lakes in 25 footers and wanted to get out on some…read morebigger waters and on bigger boats. We also wanted formal training and certifications and we found this place online. We also thought seeing Virginia and the east coast a bit would have been a great time for my wife Brittany's birthday. So we flew to Virginia's SailTime courses instead of one of the the ones in our own state. We flew from California and I spoke with Connie and she was kind enough to let us stay on a 41 ft yacht (Adiona, a 41 ft Jenneua) for our stay in Virginia which saved us about half a grand on hotels. When we landed a lady named Brooke made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. When we got on board to unpack there was even a note waiting for us that said happy birthday. Brooke was a sweetheart for sure and we felt like family by the time we had set our bags down. She made sure of it. We met our captain the next morning. A man named Jim Lant who took us through our 101, 103 and 104 courses over the next 6 days. We had a GREAT time and I honestly didn't want to leave when we finished up our last tests. Those six days we sailed every day and every place we sailed too seemed to have friendly people there who all knew each other and our captain Jim. The first ocean sail my wife and I ever did together was from Norfolk to cape Charles and that's pretty cool. Well miss the people and sailing for sure! Everyone who loves sailing should come here and meet Connie, Jim and Brooke. You won't regret it and we won't ever forget it. Jim is the BEST captain.

Captain Jim was absolutely amazing. He was so patient and did such a fantastic job of teaching us about sailing and he allowed all of us to take part in one way or another. He was so good at including everyone and making sure each person received direct guidance from him. It's generally really hard to find activities that all 6 of us enjoy due to the age range but this turned out to be an absolutely perfect day. I would highly recommend Sailtime if you are thinking of trying this adventure! Working with them on scheduling was so easy and smooth as well. Be warned, you will want a sail boat afterward.....

I wanted to write this review to thank Brian for his outstanding assistance to our tug boat,…read moreEMERALD COAST. At 1730 April 21, 2021, my Mate receives a call from his wife in Florida that his child is not breathing and being taken to the hospital via ambulance. A mad scramble ensues onboard between crew and the Dann Marine office to find him a flight or rental and a place to get him off the boat. We were told the gates were locked at our current location and we would have to find another place to get him ashore. I look across the river and see TOP RACK MARINA. I call their number and Brian answers. I explain the situation and that I know their docks are not made for a vessel our size but would like permission to try to get my Mate off and on his way to the airport. He grants permission and we get ready to turn lose from our barge and make our way over. Brian calls me back and says there is a way to get the Mate ashore where we are, which would be safer, and he would be waiting outside that facility in his truck to either get the Mate to where he could get an Uber or take him to the airport himself. Brian and the crew of the EMERALD COAST have never met, we were not his customers, and he had no obligation to do anything, yet he did. He arrived just like he said and took the Mate out to a populated area where he could safely get an Uber, stayed with him to make sure he could, and informed me he was safe. Brian, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Please let us know if we can do anything for you. If your willing to do this for strangers, I can't imagine how good your customer service is. We will always be grateful. Thank you for your selfless service in our time of need, EMERALD COAST P.S. : Like other business owners, Brian has been financially affected by COVID restrictions. If your a small boat owner, show this man some love, lets keep that business going, be safe, and remember all commercial traffic is on VHF 13. Please Monitor so we don't endanger each other.

Yikes! Cost more to park the boat than the loan, insurance, and maintenance of the boat. I get it, they provide something for those who can't park it at their house and the convenience of it being ready for when you arrive/leave but I bought a boat to enjoy and not to be bankrupt. That is just the start, see picture for additional costs. Even from talking to staff Top Rack is raised their costs significantly and changed their rates to where it's no longer inclusive pricing and everything is set up as additional costs.

Huge thank you to Lauren with our Norfolk harbor cruise team today!…read more We left over TWO HOURS early and still got caught in unbelievable traffic, construction, and a completely full parking lot. By the time we called, we truly thought we had missed the boat (literally and figuratively). Lauren went above and beyond to contact the crew and help us. She also helped us find a second parking lot when the designated lot was full. Because of her kindness and professionalism, they waited for us and we were able to experience an absolutely incredible cruise today. Customer service like that matters. Thank you for turning a stressful morning into wonderful family memories. . All this before we met the crew who patiently waited for us at the dock. They were gracious as they welcomed us aboard. The two hours were filled with so much detail on not only the ships we were looking at, but the buildings we were looking at and their history. The captain filled in with interesting bits of trivia about the harbor, the rivers that run into the Chesapeake Bay and facts of some piers and docks that had historical significance. The boat has an upper deck if you want to sit in the open. For those who prefer a little less adventure, you can sit inside the lower area that is fully enclosed. There is a small drink and snack bar where you can purchase drinks and packaged snacks. They have souvenir t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and other small items for purchase. Highly recommend this cruise. You will not be disappointed in the cruise or the customer service.
