The spacious counter is conveniently located in the center of the store. It's staffed with a plentiful number of knowledgeable employees who are both friendly & helpful. Our quest for the day was for a Norfolk City Permit for my sister's new kayak. Although the Lake Smith/Lake Lawson Natural Area is in & maintained by Virginia Beach, the waterway winding through it is owned by Norfolk & requires a permit. It's far more convenient than applying for one on line & having to wait for the stickers to come. The second purchase was to buy a new CG approved life jacket since my friend in CG reserves told me they were monitoring kayakers after recent accidents. Her previous use of my life jackets from the boat I sold was to use them as back rests. No can do anymore!! They had a supply but none that fit my sister. So we left with only the City of Norfolk boat (kayak) license & sticker. It's a convenient & a valuable resource for us to be able to obtain the permit quickly and close. The same can also be said for fishermen & those who frequent the nearby waterways, inlets & the Chesapeake Bay.

Included in the purchase were all of the adjustments and tuning to customize the bow to my draw length and weight. Absolutely fantastic service, highly recommend them. The check in process was very easy to navigate and the team members were very helpful. Jake helped me get set up at the desk & he assured me that the safety person in the range would be helpful too. It's clear that safety is a top priority here. They require you to wear hearing & eye protection before you enter the range room! I entered the range room & was initially shaken & tearful so I stepped out, wiped my tears & then entered again. John helped me slowly ease up to the bay & walked me through all the safety basics of the gun. He helped me grip it correctly and get a feel of it before the mag was even loaded. He imitated what the kick would feel like. Once I was comfortable with just holding it, he showed me how to load the bullets. I was shaken & nervous between each step but he was calm, reassuring, & patient with me. I eventually loaded the mag & did one shot. From there, my confidence built. Overall, I would recommend this gun range to any & everyone. As a woman who came here alone to face my fears, I feel accomplished & empowered. Huge shoutout to John for his patience, kindness & cute smile. To anyone out there debating:DO IT, even if you do it scared & with tears in your eyes!

We arrived around 3pm on Saturday and there was a 45 minute wait to get into the range. That gave me plenty of time to sign the waiver and look at all the weaponry throughout the store. As soon as the range was available, we had to put on noise cancelling headphones and protective eyewear before entering. With it being my first time at a shooting range, the sounds of the guns were a bit overwhelming at first but I eventually got used to it and was able to concentrate enough to practice a few rounds. This was something I've been wanting to do for quite some time and I'm so glad I was able to experience it and cross it off my bucket list. For around $25pp, definitely check them out if the shooting range is something you enjoy or if you're a first timer like myself who wants to do something fun and exhilarating!

However, this is more than a retail store! It offers merchandise for every sport, and there was an exercise class in session, along with several sets of parents watching their children climb the rock wall that's conveniently situated in the center of the building. Wow! My first thought was, I need to tell my niece about this rock wall opportunity for her adventurous kids! There's a cost for the climb, but a quick glance at the pricing seemed reasonable. Here's a fun place to shop and spend time exploring for the whole family. The staff was very friendly in directing us and our cashier, Curtis was helpful, too.
