The short of it ... he nearly froze all the pipes in my house and showed no remorse whatsoever. You want the details? Read on ... In December 2025, much of the first floor of my home was destroyed by a frozen water pipe, the cause of which was a pilot light that went out. The removal of the damaged floor, the cleanup, and the dry-out of the house ran me roughly $6,700. I then hired Kevin and his team to install a new hardwood floor on the first floor of my house. We agreed on a price of $8500 to purchase and install the flooring and polyurethane. I opted not to live in the house while the floor was being installed and the polyurethane was being applied. Most of the work was done during the week of January 11, 2026. On Thursday, January 15 and into the overnight of January 16, some of the season's coldest winter weather made its way into southern Maine. When I am not at home, I regularly check on the house to make sure there is nothing amiss and that all the mechanical systems are working properly. I do this with several thermometers, thermostats, cameras, and automation devices. Around 5 pm on Thursday January 15, 2026, I performed my routine check of the temperatures around the house. All looked normal except for the temperature on the second floor, which dropped by 20 degrees after having been 70 F all week. I immediately called Kevin and asked him why the temperature was so cold in the house. He had no idea. I asked him if any of his people opened any windows or doors on the second floor of the house. He said No. The temperature continued to drop. After another 30 minutes, still dropping. In addition to the propane, I then turned on two heat pumps. That slowed the rate of the temperature decline, but it still continued to drop. I talked to Kevin again. I shared my screenshots of the temperature dropping. He continued to insist that no windows or doors were open. By the next morning, with the propane and two heat pumps running at max capacity, the temperature was at 37 F. I had to miss a day of work and see what the hell was happening in the house. At the same time, Kevin decided to send someone to the house ahead of me. That guy found the slider upstairs wide open. On one of the coldest nights of the winter. And, after I asked Kevin repeatedly if his guys opened any doors or windows. Once we learned that the slider was indeed open all night, Kevin actually had the gall to accuse me, as if it was my fault the doors were open to the house. He came up with every excuse in the world, trying to deflect the blame away from him. The words careless, reckless, and gross negligence come to mind. Given that the repairs from a frozen pipe incident could run on the order of $15k or more, it says a lot when someone doesn't take ownership of the problem that he and his team caused. It also sends a strong signal that he doesn't care one bit about my property, nor for my time. I was lucky to have a second heat source in there to keep the pipes from freezing a second time in two months. I hesitate to think how ugly the situation would have become, had there been a second failure. Just speaking to him after this all happened, it doesn't sound to me like he would have had the funds to repair and replace the damage that would have been done. Needless to say, I won't be hiring Kevin and his team again. His reckless decisions put my home at risk of yet another flooding event, just weeks recovering from the initial catastrophe. The last time I hired a contractor with a similar poor attitude and lack of accountability, I got poor results, cut corners, and even items stolen out of my house. I'm all set with that, thank you.

This weekend, we were forced to do the project ourselves due to the installer cancelling on us for a THIRD time. The first time we got stood up, the installer failed to even contact us saying he could not come - I found out he wasn't coming by taking the initiative to call the store when he failed to show up. The second time, he cancelled 45 minutes before he was supposed to arrive at our house. After the second cancellation, I kindly asked the person in charge of scheduling the install to please have a back-up installer in line in case this one had to cancel again. Needless to say, there was no back-up installer available for us today. Ordering flooring products through this company is fine, but stay away from them when it comes to installation projects.

After the flooring was delivered and carpeting was taken out he never showed up. He said he had phone calls and photos to keep track. The person doing the work I was informed was a 'jobber' or contractor; they did not work for the company. For such an expensive job, if the company wasn't doing the work I'd expect regular 'inspections' in person as a photo can be misleading. When the work was completed all I heard was they wanted immediate payment (no final inspection) and after seeing the final work I understood because the work was done but not to the contract and not to what I would call 'reasonable' standards. I did see the work in progress not being done as agreed, but where the owner wasn't there and the way the work was underway in a less than desirable way (and ripping it out made less sense), I didn't complain or stop the work to the contractor as I'm sure the person I was paying would have charged me again to start over. Now I have to 'fix' parts that are just not right. One specific area to highlight is the actual flooring. The owner came to the house and measured it with a laser. I know when doing the work you don't want to run out and have to stop, but he bought a significant amount in excess (two full boxes plus many additional feet) that I had to pay for (and I expect overhead) and now have flooring I don't need. If he truly knows his work I'd expect a much closer estimate or he buys back extra full boxes to show good will (based on his apparent poor estimation). He also got wood with the wrong finish. He said he'd return it but that would have made a significant delay. I guess to try to justify the mistake (it's a drastic difference between the floors), he said what he bought was better. I was not there when all the work was being done, (I was in and out roughly half the days) but don't think the homeowner should have to oversee the job to ensure it meets the contract or expected quality. One specific item I'll point out; the company's correspondence normally has a statement "Our superior quality and customer satisfaction is guaranteed!". I was not satisfied for most aspects and I definitely don't feel the work was superior quality, at best average. When I pointed out that the work didn't follow what was put in writing he came back with what I would call excuses but to me they were backward and illogical, either way, I was not satisfied and he expected payment for work not done to what he put in writing. Again, how can he 'argue' when he never set foot at the work location during any of the actual work or after completion. These are my experiences and thoughts. I was asked to provide his name to a friend in the area but will not. When working with the government years ago, I would have rated this 'Do not recommend.'.

I had 5 rooms plus a stairwell & hallway that were completed in just 3 days. Some of the rooms had even been poorly sanded & stained by the previous home owner & there's no evidence of any of that work remaining. The worst part is that he came for the final check before the work was finished and YELLED and SWORE at me when I wrote the check to his company instead of him personally. At this point, we informed him that we would pay him once the work was finished (we didn't even expect him to finish the part he underestimated), and he THREATENED us and wouldn't leave the house.
