The last falcons game at the Georgia Dome. The experience didn't go to swell for me because I was hoping Cam Newton could finish the season undefeated but the Falcons stopped those hopes. Which my dream would later be crushed after a super bowl loss. Lol. War Damn Eagle always. However great game and atmosphere can't wait to check out Mercedes dome.

It seems fitting that my 200th review cover one of the most popular sports teams in Atlanta. Especially now that Mike Vick has finally been indicted by the Federal Government on charges of having a connection and contribution to illegal dogfighting. The Atlanta Falcon's history of victories in the NFL is not something that any of the owners and coaches of the past and present should ever gloat or brag about. Back in the days of "Neon Deion" our team had several seasons where there were only one or two wins on their record. The team was a joke those seasons, and the best part about going to a game at the Dome was never the game itself, but the fat guy from 96 rock that would dance during half-time. When they acquired Mike Vick it initially seemed like the Falcons losing record past would forever remain a distant memory because of the sensational play maker ability in that existed in our coveted quarterback. Instead of carrying the Falcons to the promise land of a Super Bowl win, Mike Vick has guided the falcons to only two playoff game appearances in his 6 years of playing for the team. While this may be a somewhat great achievement, it becomes an inadequate performance expectancy when you consider the fact that Vick is the highest paid athlete in the NFL. With the love hate relationship between Vick and the fans of Atlanta set aside, I think it is necessary to address the specific qualities of the fan base surrounding the Atlanta Falcons. While there are many die hard Falcons fans in the city of Atlanta, there are just as many "fair weather" fans that only cheer for the team when they are winning. The Falcons are not alone when it comes to a majority of their fans being strictly "fair weather." The Braves, Hawks and Thrashers also know all to well how dismissive the Atlanta fans can be when the chips are down. It is going to take one hell of a staff change to get the Falcons back on track. I honestly hope that Vick is suspended by the NFL and kicked off the Falcons. After they get rid of the disease that Vick has become to Atlanta, the Falcons can rebuild and get a QB that has a decent amount of intelligence and can keep himself out of trouble. The QB is supposed to be the team leader. How is Vick going to lead others when he flicks off the fans after a game and follows that up with a slew of off the field issues?

I loved the Georgia Dome, the Falcons game, and everything in between. This was my first NFL game and thought it was really entertaining. Also, I went to a great game against Tampa Bay and they WON!! The beers were cheaper than those at a Fenway game, a Pats game, or even a Celtics game (are you getting the drift that I am from Boston or something?!). The Falcons are a GREAT team and always underrated... Coy Wire is from where I grew up in PA, Brent Grimes played ball at Ship, and a good friend of mine knows Matt Ryan well. Its a crazy small world but these guys have serious potential that is overlooked by such publized teams as the Pats and Jets. Its a shame! Anyway, thanks Falcons for making me a superfan!

Very cool stadium, I was here for a work trip and got backstage access, I got to see the back area and locker rooms which was cool. The coolest part is if you can get the field level boxes you are literally on the sidelines and are directly behind the players. Very cool!

In 40 years of play, the Falcons have never had back to back winning seasons. Let that sink in...40 years....not talking about playoff appearances, just winning seasons in a row. It's almost mind boggling to me. Even some of the worst franchises in all sports don't have that albatross hanging around their necks. The Falcons are back to being a huge draw in Atlanta, but are still pretty frustrating for their fans. If there's one consistent thing about the Falcons, it's that they are always inconsistent.

Georgia dome is awesome. First visit, in town for football game. Redskins v Falcons. While we had good seats (section 111) it really looks like there isn't a bad seat in the house. Even the "nose bleed" seats appeared to still give good views. Good variety of food vendors, overall helpful staff. Over time game and while the outcome wasn't in my teams favor, really had a good time. One and only complaint is leaving can be chaotic. So many people all trying to get out at once, but no incidents and over all the fans do a great job of understanding it's a process no need to be rude or difficult. Good times!

First game of the final season at the dome.

Address needs to be updated to reflect they are at Mercedes Benz stadium. Acoustics are not the best but it's a beautiful stadium.

When I first heard about the Atlanta Roller Girls a couple years back, it briefly crossed my mind…read morethat it would be cool to be a Roller Girl. After seeing my first 'bout' this weekend, two conclusions: 1) Yes. It would indeed be awesome to be an Atlanta Roller Girl in general. and 2) No. It would not be awesome to be a Roller Girl for ME specifically because I would whine about getting hurt, and probably try to instinctively dodge the other girls instead of whack! bam! smack! hitting them like they're supposed to. So, with shattered daydreams about my potential career as a Roller Girl, the second best thing to do, of course, is tell you why you should go watch 'em. The lovely ladies are all doing their bad arse rollin' and derby-ing for the passion . . .and not for the money, because, well, there isn't any. They are all much tougher than I, and nary a tear did I see. You can tell that they're having a good time, there's a ton of team camaraderie and of course, having fun wearing their crazy and fun 'uniforms.' With team like the Denim Demons and Toxic Shock, there are quite a few opportunities for creativity! As a spectator, aside from the roller derby action, the best part I must say is the BYOB functionality. You certainly can't BYOB (well. openly.) to a Braves game, now can ya? And the randomness that they are in the Yaarab Shrine Center on Ponce. Like, girls in skates and fishnets play in the the same place the dudes with tassel hats hang out. You can buy fried shrimp, roller girl t-shirts, and watch the Atlanta teams go head to head, then stick around for the out of town team games and show your Atlanta home team spirit. Their season runs March thru September, and the 2008 season opener tickets sold out a few days before the actual bouts, so plan ahead! The closest I'll come to actually being a Roller Girl is sitting on the front row danger zone, where girls slid into the audience a couple times. But with my BYOB and a comfy spot in the stands? Definitely how I like to roll.

I was surprised this place is rated so low. I mean, I feel like you have to have a series of…read moreexpectations when it comes to going to see sports. Sure, the parking is difficult and expensive. But it's Atlanta. On game nights, Marta is packed, and it feels super safe. Honestly, the food and beer is some of the most affordable I have ever seen at a sports event. You can get a vegetarian hotdog for three dollars and a beer for five dollars. Amazing. Not the most comfortable seats ever, but I appreciate that the price ranges so that way you can decide whether you want it to be very affordable, or a splurge

Not to be confused with Craplanta United (who are far less good), Naplanta United (they get tired…read moreby half time), or Faplanta United (they spend half time jerking off to Barbi and/or Khloe Kay and/or me and/or Candy Charms). Like the Seattle Sounders, Atlanta United is honestly one of the great success stories in North American football aka soccer. I would say that even more so because they managed to penetrate a market that usually isn't that great, as in, Atlanta sports, nah. The city is a transient city, a hipster city, a music city, a culture city, a liberal city, and a booming city, and none of those things support sports teams the way that, say, Pittsburgh does. All this time, Atlanta was begging for some kind of a less-All-American sport that was inclusive of everybody, the NFL is popular here but not like it is in a Dallas or a Philly even, and the city is a little more left-wing. The sports desires of ATL (parts of ATL anyway) showed up in the form of Atlanta United, who have been able to absolutely pack Mercedes-Benz stadium the same way the Falcons do (or moreso), in a way that only the Seattle Sounders can really be compared to. Bravo. Most clubs need to get into their own stadium so they don't have 3/4 of the stadium empty, whereas Atlanta United do just fine filling up an NFL stadium. It's remarkable and amazing. It helps that they were one of the best teams from day one. Hiring the best coaches (Martino anyway, less so DeBoer), and doing an amazing job all along. We're so proud of them and we're so happy with what they've managed to do. ATL is our southern home away from home, shared capital of the south (with Houston, not with Dallas). We will probably always be fans of them because of what they've managed to do and we're very proud as I said. I hope that they're able to sustain it and I think that they will do somehow. After LAFC, maybe alongside the likes of Toronto FC, Montreal, Sounders, and Red Bull NY, this is one of our fave teams in MLS.
