When you walk into the waiting room there's about four plush leather chairs to sit and relax in while you wait. The place seems pretty new, it's spacious to do different types of exercises. There's a wall of mirrors, lots of different types of machines, patient tables lined up, and they also have private rooms to treat certain patients with certain request like me, women's health. The Physical Therapist that I'm seeing is Rebecca Johnson. I absolutely love this lady! They have a nice website and you can see the PTs and their bios too. She's a very nice lady, friendly, and she listens to you. She specializes in women's health (certification as a Functional Manual Therapist™ through the Institute of Physical Art (IPA) which I'm looking for! Keep in mind, it's more than a PT session for me. I felt like I was at my OBGYN office. In the Philippines, there are special healers that does manipulation of soft tissues and organs called Heliot. And I've found someone whose pretty close to what I need and her name is Rebecca. If you have reproductive, bladder, hip, or even stomach issues, just several visits with her, she can really get the job done! I feel like she has healing hands, seriously! I've been to another PT office years ago for a knee injury and all I got out of it was sessions with a PT watching me doing exercises which I thought it would be the same thing here, but I was wrong thank goodness! Rebecca taught me how I should sit in front of my computer, she educates me on certain clothing that I shouldn't wear that could impact my female organs, and she even taught me how to "walk" again...the right way. Who knew, really I'm not walking correctly!?! I get a lot out of my 1 hour sessions sometimes it's longer depending on my treatment that day or how long of time I have. I like that they show me what I need to do at home (my exercises program) the right way, thanks cause I'm NOT going to remember all of that when I get home! I like the fact she has late hours too that I can see her after work. She has other folks who work with you during your therapy as well. It's a great team effort. So, if you want more than just a PT watching you do exercises on a machine for an hour, get your moneys worth and check this place out! Your body will thank you for it:)

Bad Medical Practice (you may want to read this monologue)…read more To begin with, I am a Ph.D. Neuroscientist who have trained many doctors. On 6th April I had an appointment with Laura Valentine, DPT. During the time of the appointment, I was told by Dr. Valentine that a student (an intern) will be doing "most of the therapy" and she would be there to keep an eye on. I was OK with the plan, as being a Professor in a medical school this is common practice. While I was there I realized Dr. Valentine had another patient during the same time and she started working with that patient. Something we typically call "double booking". That was the first red flag. The remaining of my session which included the all-important musculoskeletal exam was just with that intern, which Dr. Valentine never counter-examined. At the end of the session, she mentioned I would be mainly handled by the intern. I was clearly unhappy with the way things were happening. However, I still wanted to continue with the remaining sessions. Day 2: I was greeted by that intern and the entire session was by her. Dr. Valentine dropped in, only to say that she had a busy day and she is taking care of patients who needs pelvic therapy. Any patient in my place would perceive as that another patient actually needs her attention and I could be taken care of by an intern. So, I did not see Dr. Valentine at all! I had a condition, which neither Dr. Valentine nor the intern could sense well. Still the intern tried manual manipulation and in doing that she made my condition a lot worse. So worse, that I had to immediately go back to my specialist. Being in the medical profession for 12 years, I have never seen a clinical center as irresponsible as Body Gears, Wheaton! If you see the "Plan of Care" you would realize even that is not signed by Dr. Valentine. It is signed by an intern with "SPT" credential, assuming that is "Student PT". In any serious medical business that will be counted as medical MALPRACTICE. I have blurred out the student PT's signature, to protect her identity. I still feel this is not something I could hold the intern responsible for, this is rather a complete lack of seriousness in Body Gears in treating patients.

Simply put, knowing my TRUE body fat % and composition motivated me to train harder and eat even…read morebetter than I did before I got scanned. If you have even a passing interest in your health, then go to Dexa Fit and get a DXA body scan done. If you REALLY want to know what your body is comprised of, there is no better way of measuring than DXA technology. Your bathroom scale, the "pincer" method... water / air displacement - these methods are fooling you into thinking you have less body fat than you actually do. A couple of great reasons to get a scan at Dexa Fit: 1) Non invasive procedure - I got my scan done in shorts and a t-shirt. No uncomfortable nudity, no swimsuits, no people pinching your fat. 2) Total accuracy. And I mean total. For example, it will tell you how much lean mass you have in your arms, legs, trunk, how much bone mass you have, how much fat is in your bones and CNS, and what KIND of fat you are storing (android / gynoid). It will also give you your T- and Z-scores for bone density - and more. 3) Gives you your RMR - resting metabolic rate - how many calories your body burns when you just sit on your butt all day. That helps to create a plan to burn more calories than you consume on a daily basis - the foundation for a successful weight loss program. 4) Excellent, caring, and very well informed techs: Matt and Alex are highly knowledgeable about training, weight loss/gain, and can (and do) help you to make sense of the results. They walk the walk, too - both are in excellent health and clearly practice what they preach. 5) Literally takes a total of 15 minutes from entry to exit. I will warn you - if you've been using a bathroom scale or the "pinch" method to measure or estimate your body fat, you are going to get a higher reading than you're used to seeing. Get mentally prepared for that, because it is definitely going to happen - the DXA method measures the fatty tissue of your brain (8 lbs) and fat in your bones and sinews that other methods can't measure. This adds an estimated 5% or more to what you're used to seeing with other methods. Don't let that bother you - just accept it as a "new normal" and work to lower your fat from there. It's a new benchmark point - just a way more accurate one. These guys are great - the process is excellent and worth every penny - give it a try, I promise you won't be disappointed.

If you're interested in getting serious about weight loss and fitness, this is your starting point…read more I've been in twice - first time for all 3 tests (DXA body fat scan, resting metabolic rate and VO2) to establish a baseline. Test results were explained in great detail and there was advice for how to leverage the data for losing fat. At the time of my first visit I bought the package for a return visit for all 3 tests that I'll do once I'm at my target. I expect my RMR in particular will be lower so I want to set myself up for success long term. I'm at the midpoint in my weight loss so I recently went in after purchasing a groupon for a DEXA scan only. Seeing that I've been losing fat and not muscle mass was great and even more interesting was seeing where I've lost more/less around the body - for example my loss to date has been disproportionately in the waist/trunk. As others have said, be prepared for the scan results to be much higher than other less accurate methods you've used previously. Mine is about 7pts higher than my home scale and gym measurement. Don't be disappointed by the small room and no frills location. All you need is their equipment and advice. Data is power - use it!

I was looking for exercises I could do to strengthen the knee. That's all I wanted. They took X-rays and told me the other knee that I have no problems with was worse! They never mentioned the special and got me for over $500. They told me all the great things they were going to do. They called it physical therapy not chiropractic. They said they could have a therapist stretch my neck. I don't have problems with my neck but I thought a little neck massage by a therapist would feel good. So, when I got there for my first visit, they showed me a leg brace they wanted to fit me for. It was huge and covered most of the leg from the knee down. For what, occasional knee pain? I said no thanks. Then I went for "physical therapy". It was run by 2 young disinterested guys who talked to each other and obviously didn't care about the job. They were definitely not therapists of any kind. Next I went for a few minutes to the supposed real therapists and I thought, oh good, now he's going to massage my neck. No way! He never laid a hand on me. Only did something with a board that I can't even describe because I don't know what it did. Nothing as far as I could tell. Next I went to the nurse who would give me a gel shot in the knee cap. She did this and at my second visit gave me some little shots around the knee cap. The next day I went to the mall and had so much pain in my knee that I was limping down bad I had to go home. That was my over $500 experience with this place. I was worried about their diagnosis of the knee I had no trouble with, that the knee cap was out of joint, so I went back to the real doctors at Northwest Community hospital and got a real unskewed xray and they said that knee was fine. I quit Body Works after 3 visits and asked for the return of my money. I had been told that my insurance and Medicare would pay most of it. Now they told me, well it's not really physical therapy, it's billed under chiropractic and Medicare doesn't usually pay for that, but we will see. Now after months of reaching out to them, they finally told me that after 3 visits my $500 plus dollars was all used up and that I owed them even more but they weren't going to collect it! How nice of them! So go to Body Works if you want to see a real scam at work!

I went to visit when they were in the midst of construction. It had been a gym previously by another owner and was bought by ATI and remodeled. They have a kids center, room for classes (spin, yoga, etc.), pool, sauna, hot tub, full beautiful locker room, juice bar with nutritional supplements available and a full floor of free weights, every type of Precor imaginable (some with their own tv screens you can plug your headphones in to) and big scary machinery for those looking to bulk up. Nate was my sales person. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable and most definately not pushy. I have seen the manager in the gym, greeting people at the front desk, on both occasions which is a nice change from the impersonal lack of greeting at the large gym up the street (which I still have a beef with). All in all, it's a great club. I am reserving my 5 star rating for a short time while I get more acclimated to the club as a whole. I am also waiting for their classes to start, which won't be a full menu until February. Also, my only issue so far is that you have to bring your own lock. Kind of caught me off guard when I went the first time and ended up having to leave my wallet, keys, phone, etc. in my car. Would have been nice if they have some on hand that you can rent for a short time. Just a thought. Overall, I am very impressed so far. She had mentioned that I was bothered by a fallen arch, and he was kind enough to offer a consultation after one of her sessions. What impressed me most about our meeting was how up front he was. He spoke frankly about the nature of my injury, and was clearly not interested in offering false hope or locking me into a treatment package. As a weekend warrior I was curious to see how both his Active Release Therapy and chiropractic services could help not only my injury, but also my overall well being. Having received treatment from Dr. Brian on a consistent basis for over a year, I am comfortable recommending his services to anyone wanting to experience optimal physical health. I very much look forward to our sessions, and always leave his office feeling rejuvenated. He is far more thorough than any other chiropractor I have dealt with, and actually concerned with my individual ailments. There are certain techniques he uses, i.e. his method of adjusting the hips, that I feel are a great deal more effective than the traditional approach. Combine that with A.R.T. and you get an experience that truly feels all-encompassing. No "crack 'em, wack 'em, and send 'em on their way" schemes at Elite Performance institute. I will close by saying Dr. Brian is an extremely knowledgeable and passionate individual, and I found his positive attitude to be contagious. I wish that all healers would approach their craft with a similar mindset.
