He is extremely intelligent, you can tell that when he took on this education that he did it to help people from the depth of his heart. I have had surgeries from other doctors who were not able to get my shoulders secure. The surgeries done by other Dr's would still fall out of joint very easily. Dr. Arroyo was very thorough with explaining the different kind of surgeries that he was going to do on each shoulder. One was done 4 years ago and hasn't fallen out of socket I feel very secure with it. The other one he completed one year ago and I only had 75% of that bone left but he was able to take a tendon from another part of my shoulder and secure that portion of the bone that was missing from that tendon. I never thought that I could use my arms again without considering the possibilities of them falling out of socket. I am sincerely grateful for a doctor that is so caring of his patients. With this particular surgery he did only two doctors in Washington state are able to perform them. When I was in between surgeries my insurance had changed and the doctor's office didn't accept the insurance that I had. I sent Dr. Arroyo a message directly to see if there was anything that he could do because he was the on of the only doctor's that could perform this surgery. He told me since I was a previous patient that he would be able to work with the insurance company and the doctor's office to get the office to be able to accept my insurance. It was hard for me to say goodbye to him, he truly changed my life.

I am coming up on the end of this journey with Dr Smith and Puget Sound Orthopedics, but all things…read moreconsidered they have made it as good of an experience as a foot broken in 3 places with a full ligament tear could possibly be. Rewind back in June 2023 when the ER in Tacoma sent me home with a compression wrap and an ice pack and told me nothing major was wrong - then after night of excruciating pain my sister drove me an hour north to the Proliance Orthopedic Walk-in up in Tukwila (separate review - also a great experience, all things considered)... it was there they confirmed that there was at LEAST one break and wanted me to get an MRI as soon as possible, and once my MRI confirmed my triple-fracture and also identified the ligament tear I went looking for PSO. Look up a Lisfranc injury. It's usually sports, mine was just bad luck. I identified Dr Gavin Smith as an Orthopedic Podiatrist and Surgeon who seemed like a great fit. He took my case very seriously from the very start, they fit me in as quickly as possible, and once he got my MRI results he took the time to recommend both a surgical and non-surgical route for treatment - being clear the non-surgical did have a higher likelihood of issues from incorrect healing later on - but was genuine and clear that he was supportive of whichever route I chose. Once I chose surgical (which was 4 steel screws to be inserted into my Lisfranc region to stabilize and allow the injuries to heal properly for 12 weeks, then a final surgery to remove the screws with 4-6 weeks of additional recovery time). This sounded like torture but I was determined to see it through. I was right - it was sort of torture. There was a lot of pain and a lot of annoying times I couldn't do what I wanted to or I'd have to do the things a lot more slowly but I made it to my final surgery... now we are in the recovery window and I am 7 days post-op and starting to walk free of any aides and it's glorious. Yay! I can't wait to get my final sutures out and make my way back to full function - I am so grateful to Dr Gavin Smith. He has an excellent "bedside manner" - he is kind and personable but doesn't sugarcoat anything. He's incredibly knowledgeable and well-versed in his field and also super kind. I would recommend him in a heartbeat and if myself or any of my loved ones need an orthopedic podiatrist his office will be my first call. The staff here at PSO is also great - they run on time almost every time. I've only had one appointment where we ran late and they offered to reschedule me if I could not wait. The office is very clean, parking is readily available and free, and the check-in process is very smooth, especially if you check in ahead on your phone!

My daughter, a high school athlete, was injured and had been going to physical therapy for months in Olympia (where we live) and going to chiropractor and a massage therapist. Months had gone by with not a lot of marked improvement. As her parents we were very frustrated as she was not getting better and we were putting a lot of money out. We were frustrated that she was frustrated. We were frustrated with the lack of communication from the PT staff and their lackadaisical attitude towards a plan with an end date. We were recommended to Dr. Buckholz. We made the drive up and we are so glad we did. He KNOWS his stuff and better than that - he LISTENS and CARES about his patients. He truly does. He genuinely wants to figure out the problem and you can tell through his warmth and patience that he loves what he does. My daughter was not just another number to him. He explains things in a way we can understand and makes sense. He gave my daughter hope and exercises and stretches to do herself at home to help speed recovery. My daughter continued to drive up to see him and made huge improvements within weeks. She has been released back for full play but still checks in with him occasionally. I can not say enough good things about him and his staff. Theresa is the epitome of a friendly professional. She is super nice to talk to, efficient, and kind. She never makes me feel like I am bugging her and is quick to offer help with scheduling and billing. I cannot say enough positive things about North Harbor PT.

Yesterday I saw Preston (the owner) He was interested in how I got hurt and how to help me get better. I can tell he genuinely cares about the people who go there (both staff and customer). I originally walked in because North Harbor is close to my home but I will contue to go there because of the quality of care. So back in mid 2023, I broke my foot... Like the devastating kind of break. I had three fractures…read moreand a torn ligament that resulted in a major surgery that required four screws be placed in my foot to stabilize it and pin the ligament while it healed... End to end, I spent the better part of seven months in a boot. It was pretty awful. After surgery, my orthopedic surgeon recommended physical therapy... He said that it definitely could help me and I should give it a shot, even though I was skeptical. It's important to note that I was over 300 pounds when I had my final surgery and I was in a very weird place where I had to exercise if I wanted to lose weight, but my injury was so grievous that anything more than a slow walk was excruciating the next day. Enter Nate at Anchor Physical Therapy... I had my initial intake with him and while I did try another therapist, they weren't as good as a fit, so I adjusted my schedule to make sure I was available when Nate was available, and I started showing up for his first appointment every Friday morning. I've been working with Nate for over a year and while weight loss was definitely not part of our goal setting together, it was part of my personal journey, and he contributed to this greatly. He gave me homework, and I did it... Ensuring that I was moving my body, stretching, and doing the little things that he asked me to do in order to get better. This is an essential part of the journey, doing the homework. I won't bore you with all of the myriad of details of my recovery, but suffice just to say that in the last year I have lost 90 pounds, and I have graduated from a hobble to training for a 5K, after being told that it was likely I would never run again. With help from Anchor Physical Therapy, I have overcome the odds and in spite of injury, osteoarthritis, and schedule challenges, I've come out on top. As far as details go, I would also like to add that the front desk staff and management is phenomenal. They were always really great about dealing with my insurance, which is Tricare and that can be challenging at times. The referrals didn't always come through the right way, or there was a hiccup, but they always made sure it got taken care of, and they communicated every step of the way. Big thanks to the whole anchor team at this location and especially Nate.

This is the first time I've ever written a review of this nature, but I feel compelled to share my…read moreexperience. I have been trying to reach Dr. Kennel for over a week regarding important test results for a family member. I was told I would receive a call back from a nurse, but after several days with no follow-up, I called the office again. During one of these calls, I was placed on hold by a woman named Mandy. When I called back to explain that I had been disconnected, rather than apologizing or helping, Mandy again placed me on hold. After I expressed my frustration and reiterated that I had already been waiting a week, Mandy responded with a hostile tone, denied that I had called previously, and then abruptly hung up on me--accusing me of being threatening, which I absolutely was not. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of communication is deeply disappointing, especially when dealing with sensitive medical matters. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that the office improves how it treats patients and their families moving forward.

So I walked in with extremely low expectations due to the low rating on yelp. Let's be honest though just because somewhere has a low star rating doesn't mean it's gonna be trash. I was highly impressed by how clean and well kept this office is. No weird smells, clean furniture and most importantly a clean bathroom. To me you can tell a lot about a place by how clean the bathrooms kept. Lol. Skipping into my overall experience as a patient, I felt like everyone was extremely nice to me and truly cares for the patients. I am a extremely emotional person, so for me I need to feel like I'm walking into a calm environment with friendly people or my day will go to shit really fast. The receptionist that helped me as I first walked in was a peach! She was super helpful and very friendly. She honestly put my worry's to rest immediately. She greeted me with a friendly smile and took her time with me while I asked questions, she joke with me a little bit and her overall attitude was amazing. I really appreciate that level of professionalism and kindness just as much as anyone else would I'm sure. Now time for the big guns! DR. Courtney, all I can say is holy hell shes good. Not only was she empathetic but she also is a amazing listener. I felt a strange sense of ease talking to her. If you've ever had trouble finding a good dr. Like myself you know how rare it is to feel like a dr. Is truly trying to help you and not just rush you out of the room. She took her time with me, allowed me to express all my concerns, joked with me a little bit, but most of all took what I was asking about into consideration. I've only ever had one dr. As good as her and unfortunately never thought I'd find another one like him until her. You can tell in a short amount of time that she is truly committed to her patients and extremely well educated. By the end of my appointment all my concerns were put to rest and I left feeling like I was given 5 star medical care. I can't thank this office enough for making me feel ok again. O' one more thing I almost left out, there is parking available, and this location is super easy to find. Well hope this helps. Have a nice day!
