I have never written a negative review before. Unfortunately, my experience with Leanne Nelson…read morePhysical Therapy was unspeakable. The administrative staff is great. But, there isn't a word that adequately describes the beyond negative experience I had in Pelvic PT at Leanne Nelson Physical Therapy. After several years of PT for lumbar spine issues--at multiple disc levels--I was truly recovering with Align Physical Therapy and had reclaimed a substantial portion of everyday life (I was walking 2 miles every few days, driving, shopping, cooking, doing light housework, going on trips, etc, and had even started going back to the gym at very light weights). There was still progress to be made, but because I also had a diagnosis of pelvic dysfunction, the thinking was that going to Pelvic PT at Leanne Nelson Physical Therapy might also help with my spinal/back issues. So, I made an appointment with Leanne Nelson Physical Therapy for Pelvic PT and gave the Pelvic Physical Therapist there the following information during my first appointment: 1) I had back issues at *multiple* disc levels, but had made great progress over the last 18 months or so at Align Physical Therapy. 2) I wanted to supplement my successful and ongoing physical therapy at Align, with Pelvic PT at Leanne Nelson's 3) I wanted to be extraordinarily careful about how we proceeded with Pelvic PT at Leanne Nelson's in order to avoid creating any problems with my back (and to not complicate the ongoing successful treatment I was getting for my back at Align) 4) I also wanted the Pelvic PT therapist at Leanne Nelson's to coordinate with my physical therapist at Align to be sure that everyone would be on the same page and to avoid any slippage or mishaps along the way The pelvic PT therapist at Leanne Nelson 's agreed with everything outlined above. But, then, over the next few weeks, she proceeded to do the following: --she either didn't read or ignored the detailed notes that my Align PT had sent to her regarding my case --she never returned any of the multiple phone calls that my Align PT had placed to her regarding my case (even though she had agreed to my request to coordinate my regular Align PT with the Pelvic PT at Leanne Nelson Physical Therapy) --she therefore conducted an inappropriate external exam at my third visit and taught me/prescribed inappropriate stretches for someone with back/spine issues at my fourth visit --she responded to my self-reporting negatively and dismissively during all visits. These are just some of the highlights of my five sessions of Pelvic Therapy at Leanne Nelson Physical Therapy. I canceled all of the appointments that I had scheduled from point forward. Then, I spent a couple of weeks trying to pick up the pieces and hoping that I would get better and just move on. Unfortunately, I am now sleeping on a therapy table in my family room and essentially living out of that room/my kitchen/my powder room because I cannot use the stairs. My husband has to support all of my weight just to get on and off of the front stoop of our house. I not only cannot drive but also now have to lie down in the back of the car because I cannot sit in the car for more than 10 minutes as a passenger. Because I can't go upstairs, I have to shower at the family/handicap-accessible shower at the YMCA with my husband's assistance. I need to use grill tongs to pick up or move just about everything because I can't bend to use the sink or reach for anything below chest level, etc. I cannot lift a gallon of milk or cook or even cut most vegetables, bagels, meat, etc.... And I now have a new Pelvic PT provider, plus my old Phyiscal Therapists at Align, plus my GP, plus the orthopedist for my spine all struggling to circle the wagons to successfully address and remedy a situation that could have been avoided easily if the Pelvic PT at Leanne Nelson Physical Therapy had just responded constructively to my self reporting, *or* had just read/not ignored the notes from Align PT regarding it's ongoing/successful treatment of my multiple back issues and it's assessment of me as a patient, *or* had just simply returned a single phone call to Align. What's more, after realizing that this situation was not going to resolve itself--even with help from other professionals--after a month, I called Leanne Nelson Physical Therapy and outlined the general negative results of the treatment I had received there. I was told that I could send in email, but that I most likely would not hear back for two weeks at the earliest. I sent that email, waited 2 1/2 weeks without a reply, placed another call, and was told to wait another week. Consequently, I am writing this review so that I can close this chapter and try to heal and move on with the help of the other providers and my physicians--while hopefully assisting others who might consider pursuing Pelvic PT at Leanne Nelson Physical Therapy.

This place is the best. Go see Brian Catania, he is amazing!…read more As a former athlete, I am very familiar with physical therapy and have been to quite a few therapists over the years. Before I saw Brian, 7.5 years ago, I sustained an injury that left me unable to walk normally, let alone workout or continue training. My MRI was normal for the most part, which raised questions as to why I would be in such severe pain. I saw a few different doctors and physical therapists and nobody provided me with any relief. Then, I saw Brian. It turns out I had an upslip in my pelvis, which lead to a whole host of complicated and intertwined problems (SI dysfunction, etc.). After spending one hour with Brian, I walked out feeling like a new woman! It was instant relief! I continued to work with Brian for 2.5 years while I finished out my days as a competitive athlete. Without Brian, I don't think I ever would have been able to compete again. Fast forward to the present...after feeling pretty good for about 4.5 years, the site of my injury began to flare up again. I live and work in Philadelphia and I work long hours, so I knew that seeing Brian was going to be unrealistic. After a few months of trying a few different therapists in Philadelphia and not getting any better, I decided to really live on the edge and leave work a few hours early (at 5:30) to go see Brian. Well, no surprise, after working with Brian for an hour, I felt better than I had felt in over a year. I walked out once again feeling like a new woman! Brian's approach was completely different from the other therapists I had seen. Brian has such a great understanding of the human body and how everything is connected. For example, on top of all of my discomfort neat my SI joint, I had been having trouble breathing for a while. I saw a few allergists and even had an endoscopy, among other tests/procedures, to try and determine why I felt such a heaviness in my chest. I mentioned this issue to Brian and he was able to fix my breathing in a few minutes by manipulating/massaging my ribs/diaphragm. The man is a genius. It took me an hour and a half to get here, so you would think that would deter me from coming back. Nope. I now make the drive from Philadelphia once a week to come here because it is simply the best care you will ever get!
