What an amazing and intelligent woman! Catherine is well connected to the local educational…read moreinstitutions (High schools and colleges; ie: Jesuit Prep; SMU; UD.) and has insights into both. I've seen her help mediocre students become very successful ones and get them into the colleges of their choice on large scholarships. If you want your student to succeed, she's worth every penny - it'll be returned to you in scholarships! And your child will go on to excel in college and in life.

Unfortunately, our experience with Mrs. Marrs was deeply disappointing and, in hindsight, not worth…read morethe investment. From the very beginning she displayed a dismissive and discouraging demeanor, often questioning the student's abilities and udermiming their confidence. Rather than guiding or empowering through the college process, she created an environment where my daughter felt nerouvs and afraid to speak, fearing judgment or belittlement. One of the most concerning moments was when Mrs. Marrs approved a college essay that contained a spelling error, which was then submitted as part of the application - a mistake that should have never been overlooked by a professional. When confronted with it, Mrs. Marrs offered: "good catch" with no acknowledgment of the oversight or apology. For a professional whose job is to support students through such a high-stakes process, that kind of casual dismissal of a serious mistake was incredibly dissapointing. In addition, she offered no meaningful feedback on the essay and provided no hands on support for scholarship applications. In summary: stay away! While she may help with timeliness, her overall approach is negative, unhelpful, and emotionally damaging, especially for students who need thoughtful support during such a critical time. She presents herself with an air of having seen it all -- and as a result, shows little genuine concern or investment. ********** ***** In response to Marrs Reply ************************* I'd like to clarify that I actually did express my concerns multiple times throughout our time working together, particularly regarding the tone and harshness of your messaging during video calls. I brought this up because my daughter consistently felt discouraged and belittled, and it's disheartening to hear that you were unaware -- that, in itself, is quite telling. Additionally, I feel it's important to share that despite your repeated suggestions that she not apply to certain schools, my daughter was accepted into her top choices -- including a highly selective institution and its Honors Program. Her success speaks to her capability, drive, and potential -- the very things that I felt were not being nurtured under your guidance. I also want to emphasize that we raised our concerns early on and with clarity. However, your usual response was to ask, "Is your mom on the call?" On occasions when I wasn't directly involved but listening nearby, I often observed the conversations veer into lengthy, one-sided monologues that offered little in the way of encouragement or meaningful support. It's disappointing to hear you now suggest that perhaps my concerns weren't made known, or that unrealistic expectations might be the cause of our experience. What we expected was professionalism, constructive feedback, and a supportive presence -- none of which are unrealistic in a service as personal and important as college counseling. Thank you for offering to reach out, but I feel that our experience has already run its course. To end on a positive note, I do want to acknowledge that your replies were consistently timely, and I believe you are a genuinely good person. My hope is that, moving forward, you might take time for honest self-reflection -- without defensiveness -- to truly evaluate the role humility plays in working with young people during such a vulnerable and formative process. Best regards, Marta

It opened her eyes to what different degrees entailed. And then they researched different schools based on on her degree interest and other factors important to my daughter. She applied to 7 schools and was accepted by all. The irony is the one we thought she wanted to go to and was a reach school ended up not being the one she selected, even though she was admitted. The process gave so much to her. And I could see her growth as she took ownership and did her research. Can't wait for all her success in college and we are grateful for Linda's leadership, expertise, and approach. She met my daughter where she was at and that was important to us.

She guided my daughter through every step of the college process from researching shools, identifying her interests, resume writing, essay writing - Linda does it all. We all know the college process can be daunting but with Lind's time and patience in working with students (and both my children are very different students) she helps them reach their goals. We are from the NYC area which is extremely competive and we highly recommend working with Linda. She will help your child identify the right school for them and a build a complete and thorough profile to fit that school.

Warning to Parents - Please Read Before Considering This Tutor…read more I normally wouldn't write something like this, but I feel a responsibility to speak up, especially when the care of children is involved. This woman has repeatedly harassed me and my family online over something that happened decades ago, before I was even born -- a tragic incident involving my mother. Rather than handling her grief in a mature and private way, she has chosen to publicly attack, target, and bully people who had no involvement. This kind of behavior is deeply concerning, especially from someone offering tutoring services to children. Emotional instability, a lack of boundaries, and the inability to separate personal vendettas from professional life are serious red flags. Parents deserve to know who they are trusting around their kids. Please think twice before putting your child in the hands of someone who behaves like this. Harassment and hate on someone like myself (20 years old) are not qualities anyone should want in an educator.
