Dr Ryan has done such an excellent job of creating a great team, not to mention being an excellent chiro! Michelle for mobility, kicks my ass and always has such great programming. Hannah/Jan: are both so talented with their massage therapy. Always a treat whenever I can catch them for an appointment. And you can't leave out Onique who is just the most pleasant and forward thinking receptionist. Always schedules me in, even last minute, and is just a treat to interact with. so thankful this team has been able to help me reach my personal goals and create new ones. Flow Pilates is only a couple of blocks away, and their All Levels class has been wonderful. It's challenging but not impossible thankfully, and they offer adjustments which is super helpful. It's a bit echo-y sound wise so the microphone system they use is helpful in understanding the prompts since there is also music playing in the background. The last class I took was with June and she was really fantastic with describing the exercises so well, followed by their counter-stretches that felt so good! I was so sore the next day! All of the instructors I've had so far are super friendly and helpful and the space is very welcoming.

I took Lu's class…read more The instructions were often unclear, and the counting was off, which made it difficult to follow the flow of the class. At times, it felt like we were moving through random exercises rather than following a clear, intentional sequence. The music was also very quiet and didn't seem to match the pace or flow of the class, which made the overall atmosphere feel a little disconnected. One thing that particularly bothered me was that Lu touched my face without asking when correcting me. I'm not comfortable with that kind of physical contact, especially when it's unnecessary. I told her at the end of class so she doesn't touch future clients' faces. I think the class would benefit from clearer cueing, more consistent counting, better coordination between the music and movements, and more awareness around physical boundaries. I wouldn't come back here or recommend it to a friend.

My two favorite instructors are Noelle and Oscar. Noelle's music taste is chef's kiss with r&b, pop, and hip-hop mixed. While all lagree classes have been rigorous, personally, I especially love Oscar's rigor because he makes my core shake like crazy and his classes are super intimate, so he's able to provide hands on adjustments. All instructors start their classes asking if there are any pregnancies or injuries to ensure your workout experience takes into consideration your limitations and offer different exercises to workout the same muscle groups. After every workout, I am guaranteed to be sore somewhere. You can pay their membership, but I currently have ClassPass where I pay $55 a month for 25 credits. This will get you 2 classes a month, sometimes 3, if the classes are not full and closer to the date, the app will lower them to 8 credits. Credits also roll over per month! They also offer free parking with a code. I've never had issues finding parking even though there aren't a lot of spaces offered.

And although it is expensive I started doing one-on-ones with her and it's definitely been worth it. I thank the universe every time we have a session together for bringing Mayra into my life. In just 3 weeks I was seeing really good transformation in my body because I was consistently applying her training in every day activies like walking, meditating and driving. She's a firm and knowledgable instructor who I feel has some how gone inside Joseph Pilates head to interpret how he came up his revolutionary exercise - and she teaches you everything she knows. She has a way of building you up over the weeks that is so appropriate - and she thinks deeply about what she can do for ME in the next session. Thank you Mayra, your method needs to be taught to school kids around the world just for the posture alignment alone!

I highly recommend trying and combining each instructor and the various classes provided at yoga circle for a wholistic practice. The three very unique teachers that have distinguished styles are Knekoh, Jacqui, and Rob. I love all three and each teacher serves a precise purpose to my yoga practice. Knekoh for my mindful meditation, Jacqui for a concentration of the body, and Rob for spiritual awakening. The other instructors are also great and are generally a hybrid of these three. If you're up for the challenge, source Yoga Circle as your place to complete the 200 hour yoga teacher training. I was in the 2020 class with Knekoh and Rob. Yoga Circle did a tremendous job at switching from real life training to virtual training. The quickness of the transition was impressive. Both Knekoh and Rob are incredibly dedicated to their students and their own practice. Both have polar yet complementing energies that make the TT special.

It's so easy to hate on DTLA. Young, crowded, and seemingly in the midst of a perpetual identity…read morecrisis, the question that usually arises is about community. Is there really a sense of community in DTLA? Or is it just a frenzied mass of developers fighting for parking lots to turn into loft apartments, businesses fighting for customers, and people who recently moved to the area fighting for...goth ice cream? Until recently, my answer would have been no. No, I didn't believe that there was a sense of community in DTLA. Not like you'd experience in Brooklyn, or Portland or elsewhere. A yoga class I took yesterday at Yoga Circle has changed my mind. A friend and I went to YCD for a Sunday evening class. Steven was the teacher, and his calm demeanor was instantly welcoming. I got settled in and noticed something different: Steven was doing all of the moves he was instructing the 7-person class to do himself. Apparently this is how they approach things at Yoga Circle. And it really helped me understand the poses. I'm a visual learner and knowing that you can watch the teacher practicing makes it unnecessary to find someone to watch in the class. I found that I could go deeper into my own practice because of this. The room was pretty special too. I'm generally quite skeptical of any comparisons between DTLA and New York, but between the high ceilings, worn but wonderful floors and the fire escape view out of a high window, I really felt like I was in the bottom floor of a building in Crown Heights, with the city swirling outside. The class was anything but easy: 90 minutes, about 40% beyond my experience level and rather fast-paced, but I think I did pretty well. I'm sore today but I feel energized and I slept incredibly soundly. Steven, thank you for such a great class, and Yoga Circle Downtown, thank you for creating such a great space to practice. I'll be back. There is a sense of community at Yoga Circle -- and from what I've recently experienced, in DTLA -- that I'd love to be a part of again. Side note -- For people who think that they can't afford yoga classes, apparently Yoga Circle has a donation-based / sliding scale system.
