    It's been officially a year since beginning to work with Paul! After COVID and finishing doctorate degree, you could say my confidence was at all time low in terms of my weight and appearance. I just wasn't feeling like myself anymore and wanted to take charge of my health. I'm so glad I made the decision to book for our initial assessment session in which we checked out how my body functionally moves, baseline strength, and set short and long-term health and strength goals. As a lady, it was really important to me that the person I was working with was non-judgmental and empathic to body image issues. Without a doubt, Paul has alway provided a safe space and does not solely focus on the number on the scale. Together, we made a plan to achieve my goals in terms of diet, home work outs, and sessions. Paul addresses all components of health, so thinking about how the environment and our mental health might also affect a person's ability to lose weight and get stronger. He's always available for questions via text or email, the ultimate accountability partner. A year later, I'm feeling the strongest I've ever been. A lot of my aches and pains from bad body positioning and posture have resolved. (Paul also specializes in injury and functional movement to support daily life!!). My goals have shifted from losing weight to being a strong baddie with bigger muscles. Last thing to say is that Paul is a genuinely nice person! I look forward to our weekly sessions where we work out, but also chat about music and movies. We listen to awesome tunes and our sessions feel like a fun hangout with a close friend, which makes a world of a difference.

    I started with Paul after a woman told me I was the least-fit guy she had ever been with. I found that surprising, as I wasn't overweight and I played tennis regularly, but I never lifted weights, so I was soft and scrawny. I was also in my 40s and my energy level was lower. When I saw her again after eight months with Paul, she was impressed. My chest stood out and she could feel my abs. I could still be more muscular, but I've gotten only compliments and no complaints about my physique since starting with Paul. For people who live and/or work in DTLA, Paul has a convenient studio in an apartment building stocked with all of the equipment you'll need for a good, private workout. He keeps track of your weight, body fat and hydration. His knowledge of the body and how to treat particular issues goes beyond the typical personal trainer you find at a gym. He'll design routines for you to continue at home between sessions, complete with videos on how to execute them properly. He adjusted routines to my wrist and forearm tendonitis and helped improve it with exercises, massage gun and even scraping. Paul also is a good guy to talk with and has great taste in music, making sessions enjoyable.

    When I first started my fitness journey with Paul, I was at a stage in my life where my physical health was not the best and I was the heaviest I had ever been. I was struggling to get back into shape and having 2 bad knees made me feel like reaching fitness goals was close to impossible. So, I was unsure of what to expect and how I would be able to meet my fitness goals. However, from the initial session Paul took the time to understand my goals, limitations, and concerns, and then designed a workout plan and fitness goals tailored specifically for me. In the beginning, his training was tough, but his motivation and energy absolutely made me push harder. I always know Paul will challenge me at every workout, and he will push me to reach new levels each time. He pays attention to every workout I do and corrects me every time I'm doing a rep incorrectly. This is a game changer for me because of my history of knee injuries. But Paul will take the time to explain how to do the exercises correctly so that it wouldn't impact my knees. He not only showed me how to correct my posture but also how to avoid getting injured. He really pushes the importance of stretching, something I always took for granted. Two years of training with Paul and I have been injury free. I sincerely recommend Paul to anyone looking for a great personal trainer who is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely cares about his clients and committed to helping them meet their goals. Thanks to Paul's knowledge and dedication, I am getting closer to reaching my fitness goals and most importantly I'm injury free. Paul has not only been my personal trainer but also a source of inspiration and support throughout my fitness journey. Thanks to Paul I'm not only stronger physically, but also mentally.     When I first met Paul in February of 2021, I was a mess. I had low self-esteem, felt mentally defeated, and depressed. I was desperate. One of the first questions Paul asked me was, "What's your goal?" Honestly, I said, "I just want to be happy." That obviously wasn't a fitness goal, but to keep it real, that's all I wanted. Paul provided a thorough assessment and collaborated with me to develop fitness goals. After working with Paul for several months, I remember walking into his place in October of 2021. We did our normal check-in and he asked me how I was feeling. I said, "Paul, I feel happy, I genuinely feel happy". He smiled. I think we both knew at that point I had come full circle. It was a radical change, and I am forever grateful. For me, I needed a mental shift to increase well-being. Without Paul I'm not sure if I'd be where I'm at today. From day one, Paul has been the best personal trainer, accountability coach, and mentor. He has helped me change negative coping I created around food to healthier ones. His check-ins assisted me in staying on track even on the days that felt tough. Paul genuinely cares for the well-being and personal growth of those he works with. My self-esteem is up, I feel mentally stronger, and no longer depressed. To me, that's a win! I am forever grateful for Paul and everything he has done to support me on this journey. I recommend Paul 100%. If you don't have a Paul Brown in your life, you're missing out!

    Five stars across the board!!! Couldn't have come across a greater person to entrust my fitness goals with. I already had embarked on my own fitness journey but was at a halt for about half a year and wasn't quite at my goal weight. I decided what the heck let me invest into myself and found Paul. Not only was he able to help me with corrective exercises and stretches but he also assisted me with proper macro intake- so by graduation day I was closer to my goals. What set Paul apart for me was the intertwinement of mental head space and physical wellness aspects, knowledgeability, and overall being a great person! I could go on and on about how Paul has made an everlasting impact on my life but I will leave with this- if you are in the market to find a trainer to align your "why" with an actionable purpose- Paul's your guy!!!

    Investing in Paul for personal training was one of the best decisions I made last year! In 2021 and the aftermath of COVID, I realized that I was the heaviest that I have ever been. My health was not the best and my confidence had been down, so I decided to make a change and reached out to Paul. Fast forward to mid-2022... I'm HAPPILY to say that I dropped nearly 30 pounds! With Paul's guidance and encouragement, I'm in the best health that I have ever been and at a weight that I have not seen in many, many years! Summer 2021: Weighed 143 and told Paul my goal weight is 115 to 120 lbs Summer 2022: Weighed 114 and ACCOMPLISHED my weight goal! Continuing to get stronger and heathier each day... Like many people, I do NOT like working out BUT working out with Paul makes this daunting task easier. Paul is ALWAYS encouraging but never intimidating.     Paul exudes warmth and he has a genuine love and concern for his clients that truly sets him apart. He isn't just there to get you back in shape -- it's a fully transformative journey where you become physically+mentally stronger; your diet is about making you look and FEEL better; and you build daily habits that set you up for success. I've seen the transformation in myself while working with Paul... if I have to sum it up into one phrase, it would be that I. Just. Feel. Better. 1) There is no more brain fog because I'm eating + hydrating well which is a BIG WIN for me.     Paul is a gem, not only as a trainer, but as an all-around amazing human-being. What truly sets him apart is his genuine ability to connect with his clients. When I started training with Paul, I had the singular goal of getting back into shape before my wedding. At that time, I viewed working out as a chore, and I figured if I paid someone to tell me to do it, I might get results faster. I dreaded going to the gym, and those darn intimidating machines. Training with Paul makes you realize that fitness is as much physical as it is mental. He truly wants you to succeed, and will share his vast knowledge regarding physiology, form, and nutrition. Training aside Paul is just a wonderful human being, super laid back, fun, and motivating. Paul was a life line during the pandemic with gyms closed. He developed a plan for me so that I could work out from home, plus I can text him any time of day and he always responds. People always think about the exercises and nutrition, but Paul creates an environment that allows YOU to push yourself to limits that weren't possible before.

I came in with some chronic back pain that flared up with any exercise I did, and now I'm back on my feet, feeling a lot better and slowly starting to be able to lift heavier again. Bayo definitely knows a lot about functional fitness which I love because in my mid-40's I not only want to be in great shape now, I want to keep moving well in to my 70's and 80's. He's also got a lovely, kind personality but just because he's super nice don't think he'll go soft on you, you will work hard! He also gives great tips on diet and recovery that really help round out your training. The gym itself is bright and sunny, and immaculately kept. Lot's of great equipment and variety so you won't get bored. If you're looking to get in great shape and enjoy doing it I highly recommend this place!

    I recently stayed here for a conference, and everything screamed vintage but athletic club, too…read more The hotel room is VERY spacious, though it erred on the side of dark. As usual, water in the room costs money, and there are a few other products with hidden price tags in the room, too. Surprisingly, toothbrush and toothpaste was not provided. The water for showering also doesn't get too hot. In terms of the athletic space, the machines were very easy to access. There was never a wait even on weekend afternoons. The lap pool was my favorite part - clean and calm. There was some miscommunication between the lobby and the store, as one said there is no reservation system but there in fact was. But even when told all the lanes were fully reserved, more than half weren't in use. Parking is a bit of a hassle; for non-members it's definitely not worth it. At the time of visit, the parking machine wasn't working. There are also sperate elevators for parking vs the athletic club / hotel area which was a little confusing. The stair numbers also didn't coordinate the best with actual level.

You can feel right away that it's a gym where everyone is welcomed. All body types. All ages. No egos. What continues to surprise me is the knowledge that the trainers have. Nick has an educated response to all of my random questions, and continues to motivate and encourage me on my journey. My partner and I signed up together to work out at Virtuo, it's been an amazing experience so far. From the very beginning, Brandon (the owner) was super attentive and really took the time to understand what we needed as a couple training together. Great energy and very professional. And can we talk about our trainer?! Huge, huge shoutout to Wolf! He's the best. Super attentive, crazy knowledgeable, and somehow makes working out actually fun. We train with him twice a week, and we genuinely look forward to every single session. Like, we wake up excited to work out.
