Nice athletic clothing shop that's in the same family as Banana Republic and Gap. They have a small sale section in the back, where the fitting rooms are. It's extremely hidden and I don't think I would have known about it except I happened to try on some clothes today. I got an exercise bra here that was pretty comfy - the Elation V neck crop. Note that Athleta bras have different letter sizes AND different cup sizes (one: A-C two: D-DD) so you really need to double check the tags to make sure you have the right sizes in both departments. The black bras seem to get dirt on them kind of easily. I guess it's the material they use. Some of the bras also have some cup padding that tends to get squished or moved around so I had to do some adjustments there. I had some online gift cards so I was able to seamlessly redeem those without having to print anything! read more

Yes and yes to these leggings! For some reason (perhaps because my phone is secretly recording my audio all the time), I get a ton of yoga legging ads on my feeds. These leggings are quality though- competing with the likes of lulu lemon. Love the designs and the colors, especially anything pink. The camouflage is less of a favorite of mine, but if it's pink it's cute. Pink or green camouflage, anything else looks weird. The pro-tip for this place is to NOT go on a weekend if you can avoid it- it can get pretty busy and if you're a purposeful shopper like me you'll want to get as far away from lines as possible. There are many, many competing legging brands to be honest, and it can feel overwhelming if you're just entering the legging world! Thank god, by the way, for allowing women to wear something this skin tight to workout (remember those bootcut style and flappy bell bottom style jeans of the 70s?). One of the biggest names in leggings. They were originally made to be intended for yoga, and the sizes are notoriously small, so consider that when you're choosing yet another sweat-wicking pair. Nike. I know, I know, they're one of the biggest companies over many aspects of athletic wear. Their leggings are honestly such a disappointment, hence why I'm listing them here - they're a well-known brand yet they make the worst leggings ever! My experience at Athleta leaves much to be desired. I've been to this location a few times and customer service could be better. There were 2 workers, but no one welcomed or greeted me. The store wasn't busy on a weekday afternoon. I was browsing to see if a pair of leggings on sale was in store since it said limited quantities online. I walked around the store, couldn't find it, and asked one of the associates. I pulled up the product on my phone and she took my phone from me to use "find in store". The results came back with "none in stock" and the associate said I could order online. Not helpful. The worker should be able to search their own system to check for the most up-to-date inventory status. I know that if the product is not available in store, the store can order and have it shipped to you which was not offered either. I was about to inquire about the 30% off for instructors, but didn't bother. Would rather shop online or at Lululemon. read more

I was aware Athleta's final sale policy, but when I received my order there were two of the same item. I thought it was a mistake, however, I did accidentally hit 2. I'm a little older and not always as good on the computer as many. I tried to explain the situation to their customer service, offered to pay my own postage because it was my mistake, but I was not permitted to return the item. Won't be ordering from Athleta again, there are other companies sympathetic us older individuals and short comings. read more

I purchased a swimsuit on their website and feel I was misled. I ordered the size that I thought I needed which I thought was an adult size and it was a youth size. It was final sale but when I received it and found out it was a youth size not an adult size I reached out to them and they told me because it was a final sale item they could not do anything about the mistake. For a company as big as Athleta I would think they'd want to treat all customers with fairness. We're talking it was $40 and all I was asking for was a credit or exchange to buy an adult swimsuit. I was happy to send back the swimsuit they sent me. It's sad they want to loose a customer over this. read more

I ordered on line and when the cloths were received there was no order information in the package. I needed to return an item and Athleta would not help me at all and did not have order number. I know all they had to do was use my email to retrieve order but they required my address. When I gave it to them, they said it did not match their records and could not help me. Interesting how the clothes showed up to that address. 'Customers service' was awful. DO NOT order anything from this company- you will have a very hard time returning it. read more

Two stars for their SERVICE/helpfulness. I'd give them 1.5, but rounded up because the brand deserves some credit. I've been to so many different Athleta stores from Emeryville (East Bay) to SF to Portland. Service has always consistently floored me and this brand has always been my go-to (versus other activewear brands including Lululemon). I just came here on a Saturday evening and walked out with a pair of "All In 7/8 Tights." There were at least 3-4 sales associates in a NEAR EMPTY store and not one of them asked if I needed help. While I got a room in the dressing room, I don't think you can just stroll into one, so great job doing the bare minimum. Maybe these associates are new and there was one register down, but from the time I stepped into the store to the moment I walked out, there was an average of 2 to 4 customers TOTAL. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but don't come on a Saturday evening. read more

Sports candy for the sporty eyes in you. Athleta has really good quality sports outfits, especially if you are into yoga, pilates and all those activities that adapt so well (or viceversa) con pretty, comfy leggings and tops. Here you can find all that, super soft leggings of all varieties and ultra softie tops as well. I like how they play with the pastels and the various styles. Also, I like their free classes offerings and the location is nice as well. Not a cheap store, but good quality and items last forever. read more

Athleta has one of the BEST return policies I've ever come across. I was shopping in there to replenish some of my worn out yoga pants and was conversing with a sales associate about how I love the fact that they now have stores. Back in the day I shopped Athleta online... and ended up with the wrong sized swimsuit top. Since the cost of shipping the item back wasn't worth the sale price I paid for it, this top was just stashed away somewhere deep in the closet. The sales associate insisted that I bring the swimsuit back... So a week later... I did. Tags and sanitary strip still attached. I honestly was not expecting anything back but since I keep everything in my emails and found the order confirmation from more than 5+ years ago, they actually kept their word and kept reassuring me that it wasn't a big deal at all to return something so ancient. The girls here are friendly and their clothing is great. They carry not just work out clothes but some great everyday lifestyle choices too. read more

Don't waste your time trying to do online returns here. Most online orders don't come with paper receipts and this location will do the absolute least to help you with it. Unless you want a store gift card/credit. One of the employees was unnecessarily rude about offering information about their return policy. Best bet is to do online returns through the website. I wandered into this store for the first time and was impressed with the store's policies. There's free hemming and a very generous return policy. You can return items even after you've removed the tags and worn them. Apparently, you can return thing anytime, but they suggest you keep the receipt because your transaction may not be in their system after a period of time. The prices on the items are high though (like ~$100 for hiking pants), so that prevented me from making a purchase that day; plus, they don't carry petite sizes (or tall sizes) in store, so I wasn't able to try on the size I needed. They informed me that I could order and make an easy return, but the high pricing just didn't encourage me to make a purchase that day. The store was pleasant to shop in though with nice staff and fitting rooms. It was enjoyable to browse here. It's owned by Gap though, so I wonder if they'll have the same type of sales as Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic does. If so, I'd definitely return to browse the sale rack! read more

I've been shopping from the Athleta catalog for years, and have gradually bought fewer pieces from Gap and Banana Republic since the Athleta pieces were better made and suited my style better. I buy some of their athletic (bike, cardio, running) clothes, but mostly "adventure" clothes for day-to-day or hiking. Their clothes are a bit pricey, but I have been very happy with the quality and the attention to details. I am *thrilled* to now a have physical store to go to try things on - especially to get the fit right on pants and shorts. I attended the grand opening cocktail party, which was overwhelming crowded. Since then I came back to find some hiking shorts. The salespeople were incredibly helpful and I tried a ton on. I ended up falling in love with some pants but not finding any shorts that were perfect. They helped me order something online that they didn't carry in the store - shipping was free, and took only 3 business days (to my house). I wore the pants hiking and decided they were a bit too long. I brought them back and they measured out the length they needed to be hemmed and sent them in - for free! So this is as good as it gets: quality clothes with a great selection, free and fast shipping from their online catalog, and free tailoring. I haven't needed to return anything, but I saw other customers doing so who had no problems. read more

Lots of cute running outfits! Wow! I had no idea shopping for running outfits would be so much fun! :)) The staff were super helpful & friendly. It's as if I had my own personal shopping assistants. They made it fun & stress free for me, to find the perfect running attire for my upcoming race. Not only was the outfit functional, but it was also super cute & I feel completely comfortable & pretty wearing them. ;) I also love the fact that they have complimentary services, such as fitness classes. I'm definitely trying this in the near future. I was very excited about my new outfit, that I also wanted to see about running shoes. what a wonderful, new addition to town & country village! i didn't even know there was a new athleta here until i heard about the complimentary fitness programs for their grand opening week. the store is very nice, with an organized layout, running clothes to one side, swimwear to another, casual clothes in another corner, etc. all of their clothes are bright and colourful and made from technical material, which is great since constant movement requires appropriate clothing that feels comfortable and doesn't chafe/cause blisters. the back is reserved for fitting rooms, and again, is very organized and well lit, with spacious, individual rooms. i came in this morning to attend their free yoga class, which was a great way to kick off my day (and week). it was a small 4 person class, which was great since we each received individual attention from the instructor. note that they will be having free yoga classes every mon & thurs in july & august, from 8.30-9.30am in the store. note that this store carries women's athletic clothing only. read more

Just to echo what some others have said. I love Athleta clothing, and wear a piece or a whole outfit of Athleta almost every day: work, casual, working out. But I would rather order online than purchase at this store. This location is close to my work location, so I visit a couple of times a month. Greeted maybe 1 out of every 5 times I come in. This last visit (again, not greeted by a single store associate) I just wanted to pick up some masks, and pay a portion with my affiliated store credit card reward, which I know I have to pull up on my device to provide a code (I have had this card for over 10 years). I indicated this to the associate, who still insisted on looking up the reward via a different system. I knew it wouldn't pull up (and it didn't), so she wasted time for both of us. I think the associates at this store are more concerned about being "experts" than actually providing customer service. The best function for this store is to try things on for sizing and then order online. read more

I love Athleta. I do. I have been shopping at Athleta for over ten years now. I started shopping here when it was only a boutique catalog clothing shop and when women's athletic apparel was not yet a mainstreamed venture like it is now. When I lived in New York City between 2008 and 2012, Athleta sold themselves to the Gap and they began to open store fronts to expand their catalog-only business. I was so excited, I went straight to their store on the Upper West Side and I have continued to be a loyal customer, even though they have undergone significant changes in style and fabric since being bought out by the Gap. Athleta is the only women's athletic brand to be added to the Gap's online storefront along with Old Navy, Banana Republic and Piperlime. (In case you didn't know, the Gap owns many of the more well-known women's athletic apparel stores like Lululemon Athletica and Title IX). Now I live in the Bay Area of California, and of course, like the Upper West Side in New York City, (bourgeoise) Palo Alto has an Athleta store, and I admit, I go there once in a while to peruse, get bathing suits, work out pants (the Chaturanga are my favorite!), blouses, dresses, you name it. Athleta has really, really good quality clothes. I have work out clothes that I bought in 2011, that I still wear today, and it washes well, holds it shape and has stayed amazingly colorful, bright and does not look 6 years old. Of course, there will be a necessary point when I will have to get rid of them. I have gone to the Palo Alto store for everything from winter and spring coats, to new work out pants, to bathing suits, to hiking/metro pants, to blouses and sweaters, dresses and sale items. I love Athleta clothes because you can go from work out to city streets to travel to a nice dinner in their clothes. Their clothes are beautiful and sophisticated, and yet the designs are tailored to every kind of athletic need, from rock climbing to yoga, from dance to hiking, from paddle boarding to skiing, from golf to running, from hot weather athletic wear to extreme cold weather athletic wear. They have it all. I have purchased items to shield me from low temperatures (wool layers for temperatures like 20 degrees F) to items that are comfortable in the hot tropics (linen and wicking for 88 degrees F, 90% humidity!). I am addicted to their clothes. However, I definitely have found the customer service at this location lacking. It's too bad because Athleta has such high end clothing and really good return policies. You can return items ANY TIME if it doesn't work, even if you have used them! I have had to return coats because of sticky zippers, and they take it back no questions asked. Unfortunately, there are often not enough people on the floor to help with questions or sizes and when you are in the dressing room needing another size, I more often than not have to pitter patter out of the dressing room to go find the size myself. This is not necessarily a bad thing, it is just that they say they will be there to help you when you get in the room, but then when you do need them, they are nowhere to be found. This is the reason they only get four stars. Otherwise, I will always shop at Athleta because I have since probably 2004. Women's workout clothing has certainly come a long way. super sad.. good-bye Athleta. I received a top for Christmas as a gift, and it didn't really fit right. I went to return it, had the tag and the receipt that the giver of the gift included in the gift box (from an on-line order). The sales rep from Town & Country Athleta in Palo Alto, took the top back and handed me the return receipt. Much to my surprise, I did not receive store credit, or a warning that this return transaction would end this way. I walked in with a shirt, and walked out empty handed... I'm not going back to the gift giver to ask for another gift.. in my opinion, I should have been warned that the return would go back to the original form of payment and not toward a store credit. read more

I think of Athleta as a lululemonn meets Patagonia experiment. Owned and operated by Gap, Inc., Athleta is often hit or miss. I find the selection often geared to an older or more matronly customer, but occasionally find a few staples that defy the odds. The upside to buying at Athleta is their product guarantee. After wearing any of their products they are returnable if not to your standard. Straight from their website - "Love it or return it. Any time. Any reason." Like lululemon, Athleta offer classes ranging from yoga to cycling and run clubs. After browsing their website and looking at many other Athleta locations, the Palo Alto location lacks here in a major way in comparison. She helped so much by suggesting the great clothing that's offered in the store, my wife loves the place and I like the way she looks in the garb. I spoke with Rosa, the store's GM, and she took care of the mistake displaying excellent communication and customer service skills in the process. The updated 4 stars is also for the clothing (pants, swimsuits) -- they have performed well through wear and tear in the past few weeks. I have been an OBSCENELY great customer, advocate and fan of the Athleta brand for far too long. My visit to the Palo Alto store the afternoon of October 9th confirmed for me that Athleta has turned a very dark and treacherous corner in its growth. Today, the woman that rang me up used what is known in retail as an "assertive" tone, reserved for loss prevention as has been the case in Palo Atlo and Burlingame. I was profiled because of my race. I know the tone because I have been on the other side of the that counter as part of a social experiment job. I know my take is true because if she had done a GOOD job of profiling me, she would chosen to pay MORE attention to my status as a card holder or to the fact that I was draped in casual Athleta clothes from head toe. Her co-worker in the back wouldn't have darted a stare when I fixed my shirt as though I was stealing and they both wouldn't have stood in the back whispering without a care in the world about my level of comfort. I know this brand backward and forward - EVERYTHING I own and wear is Athleta. While I was there, I tried on a jacket in store and on the spot, knew why the rack was still full and why it would come to be a high return item - the zippers are so poorly constructed on a heavy weight item. The women at this store resembled more desperate housewives with gossipy urges than brand ambassadors .. they seem to represent the privilege and entitlement of the area, unlike before where it was refreshing to walk in and be assisted by the same diversity in the ad campaign and picture behind the register. The people that rung you up were a spitting image - young, old, mixed in races and backgrounds. Very poorly done Athleta, never been more disappointed in your brand and in your judgement. This new hiring direction in looking to hire non- student, full time women is a mistake and for this reason - the lack of culture, diversity and brand representation is appalling. read more

I found a black running zip up jacket for sale here but they did not have the size I needed. The sales lady was very helpful, checked online and also called other stores that could have it. We found one in the Sta Monica branch. The lady on the other end of the line was very nice & helpful too so I ended up purchasing the apparel I needed with the size I wanted. On top of the 20% sale they had, the added another 20% with free shipping to your home address in 3-5 days!! And not to the store!! Wow! How convenient! First time shopping here got me impressed. They offer more selections & nicer styles. I've been to Nike stores, Sports authority & Sports basement but I find it more convenient & shopper friendly here. Regular priced items aren't any different than in Nike or other sports gear stores and in most cases, it's a fact that you really have to pay for high quality sports gear if you want the right fit, right comfort & style. read more

I have looked online, but this was my first time to their store and first purchase. I didn't really care for the layout, I am not sure if items were separated according to sport. Customer service was friendly and outstanding. I did come there with a list of items to purchase for hot yoga. I purchased shorts, sports, capri, some other pants and a couple tops. So far I like the fitting and the prices are nice too especially if you want to pick up multiple items and keep within a budget. Not sure of their quality yet; my next visit there is dependent on that. read more

This stuff is expensive, it's true, but no more than lululemon, whose clothes have nowhere near the quality or variety. The staff is knowledgeable about the clothing and the sports for which they are intended, which is most of the summer, winter, and year 'round sports and workouts that most women participate in. If they don't have what you need in their store, they will order it for you from either another store or from their catalog, which has more stuff than any brick and mortar store could hold. I have only two complaints: Too much of their clothing and accessories are made in China; and the parking at T&C, which is the pits, but that is beyond their control. read more

The store credit was issued because I didn't have a receipt on something I wanted to return a few months ago - which is against Athleta's policiy. And today was the icing on the cake - they didn't want to give me $1.10 back ? Just beware of your rights and always be prepared for issues like this. If I gave the store a $50 bill and only spend $49.00 - would they withhold the $1.00? Again, be prepared and always save your receipts for this store/brand. Sadly as much as I like their clothing I will not be helping this store w/ its revenue ever again. read more

Customer service / phone etiquette and knowlege of those answering phone at the store and at CS Lines are completely incompetent....Received a gift item for 78 dollars, CS said had to call back and contact store. Called the store to consumate an exchange, they had no idea how to proceed, except to drive to one of their locations near Boston ( 1.5 hr drive ) Its what happens when you hire millenials who typically ask "Siri" about everything from putting on their undies to ordering dinner. As a society we are doomed forced to engaged with those who would have been better off culled from the herd. read more

Pants I bought are still in wearing rotation! One pair has a couple of small holes on the knees (my fault, I fell on the trail. Hard.) but the holes stayed put and didn't run or get bigger. Love athleta! read more
