Athens West Cleaners came highly recommended (despite the negative Yelp! reviews). They did a terrific job with our shirts, getting our respective starch requests perfect to our likings. AVOID: Have used for nearly 30 years. Over last 12-24 months they have destroyed 2 runners/tablecloths. First time we mentioned but they blamed material and refused to provide refund. Last month, they destroyed yet another table cloth and again blamed material and refused to refund cleaning fee or offer to replace. When questioned about a refund the the manager screamed at my wife, "Get out and never come back." Another employee in the back of the store parroted the manager, "Get out and don't come back." Owner refused to return phone call and argued with us about their incompetency. Would NOT even call my wife to apologize! More loyal to employees than customers. As a business consultant, I will be interested in how they plan to make a profit from rude owner and management since customer base will eventually disappear. read more

My review of this place is long overdue. When I needed to have some pants hemmed, a dress cleaned, and some three quarter length sleeves converted to short sleeves, a friend suggested I go to Athens West Cleaners. My experience there was great. The pants are the perfect length. The stains and odor from the dress were removed. The bulky sleeves on the otherwise summery dress were short and fitted. Some people may know their way around Athens and not need directions. For everyone else, I'll write how to get there. This place is off Atlanta Highway. If you turn away from Panera Bread at the red light, the cleaners is on the right as you ascend the hill. Then you can stop for a sandwich afterward. read more

The folks at Athens West are extremely professional and know their customers well. I was getting my dry cleaning done from another dry cleaner for about three years and the owner never cared to learn my name. After two visits at Athens West, they knew who I was which is a big deal to me. I never question how well my clothes are cleaned or whether a button is missing on my shirts. They take everything into consideration when cleaning. Pricing is a bit higher than other stores, but it is very well worth it. I would highly recommend Athens West to anyone looking for a great dry cleaner in the Athens area. read more

I was very disappointed with the response that I received when I called in to get a price on the dry cleaning I had placed @ this facility. I began the conversation with announcing my name as a polite person should, so they would know who they were specking with. The lady that asked the phone, immediately asked if I could hold on and of course, being a business and Monday morning @ 10:12 am; I realized they could be busy and beginning the week could be a little stressful. She came back to the phone, gave me my total with complete disguise like; who are you calling here asking, what your cost was! I had been searching for a cleaners well, after that experience.. I've used them 3 times for dry cleaning and alterations. Why I keep going back? I don't know. I guess I believe in the benefit of the doubt, second chances, whatever. Or I'm a glutton for punishment. Well, no more! I refuse to return to them and their EXORBITANT prices (and I'm used to Manhattan dry cleaning prices), their empty promises, and being charged for services which were never performed. Here is an example of my latest (and last) trip to Athens West Cleaners, and exactly what I asked for: Please dry clean one black wool skirt suit- (Returned with cat hairs still all over it and less-than-fresh smell at the armpits. No explanation offered.) Please dry clean one white jacket to remove coffee stains - (Returned with coffee stains in tact and no explanation offered.) Please replace a single plain brown button on a suit jacket - (Jacket returned with nothing changed) Please shorten the spaghetti straps of a shirt by 2 inches and repair the one strap that's coming unattached. Also, please take the shirt in a few inches along the seams- (Straps left untouched- and the one still hanging off. Other alterations made in the clumsiest way possible with wavy seaming and strange darts that bunch up when the shirt is worn. And yet the shirt's still not actually much tighter than when it started- which was the primary goal.) And, yes, I was charged for all of the things I asked for, regardless of whether they actually were done. I will NEVER go back. Buyer Beware. read more

Athens West did a beautiful job steaming it out so it and the veil were ready for the big day. I dropped it off around closing Wednesday night, and it was ready by Thursday morning. read more

I've never reviewed anything - never felt the need to, but i am more than disappointed in my service. I brought my comforter here to be cleaned. I did that, because as anyone who had made this mistake would know, putting a comforter in a standard washing machine causes it to get lumpy. Well, tonight I finally took my freshly dry cleaned comforter out of the packaging they put it in, and made my bed. Lumpy. an entire side of it is lumpy. And I'm crushed. ON TOP OF THAT - the customer service wasn't very good. When i brought it in, I was given a ticket that said the next day, but was told it would probably take longer than that. I was also told that they would call me the next day and tell me when I could come and get it. About four days later I finally call them (I assumed they were just very busy or something) and was informed that it was ready and had been ready. I never got a call from them telling me when to get it or that it was ready. And I was told that the day on the ticket wasn't going to be accurate. So I had no way of knowing when to get it. Overall just not great. First time every getting/using dry cleaning too. Sad. read more

I needed a pair of jeans hemmed, and was surprised to find that other places around Athens were charging large amounts of money to do so! Athens West Cleaners near the Ingles Shopping Center on Atlanta Highway not only hemmed my pants quickly but also at a great price! They did a great job and it turned out exactly as I had hoped. I would recommend them to everyone; forgot about the pricier alterations shops around town and go straight to Athens West! read more

First time ever going to a dry cleaner. Somehow the seat of my pants got something resembling donut glaze on it and just decided it was time to get the whole suit dry cleaned. I even pointed out the spots when I took it in. Got it back and the spots were there as bad as ever. Back at home I simply applied some water and scraped it off and now they're as good as new. Suit top came back with a few cat hairs and I don't even own a cat. Cost me $10. Absolutely ridiculous. Also I have reason to believe that they are somehow hiding the poor reviews that people leave on here if that's possible. read more

My first time trying out this place, they didn't want me to count how many pieces of clothings I drop off, nor give me a detail receipt of what I left with them, he simply said we got it. What if you made mistake and I won't have anyway to prove you did. I should have take my clothes and left, but I gave it a chance. They charged $9.50 for a casual sleeveless knee length dress, I asked why is it so much more than others? The lady gave me a mean look and said it's always been that price. Other places charged $4 and did the same job. Dress shirts came back wrinkle because they packed too many in one bag, missing/broken buttons. I have used these guys for 2 years. I have always been happy with the service until now. They shrunk 6 of my work polo shirts. The owner told me there was no way they shrunk the shirts due to the material they was made of. Well, you did because you are the only ones that cleaned them. They tried to stretch them back out with no sucess then basically told me I was out of luck!!! Wow!!! I also work in customer service and if we have a repeat customer with an issue we do what we have to do to make it right. Refusing the short term fix cost you a long time customer.
