This is a terrific little Indian place on Regent St. The location is quite close to most other…read morethings of interest in Cambridge. The storefront is rather unobtrusive while the interior is relatively cozy with a sedate atmosphere. I went in on a Sunday evening and it was moderately busy. However, I was on my own and was able to be seated quite quickly. My server attended to me right away and did a very good job taking care of me. The menu offered several favorites. I chose the Chicken Dopiaza as a main accompanied by Punjabi Chole and Peshwari Naan. It was all excellent. The contrast between the sweet taste of the naan and the spice of the curry proved a very good combination. My final bill with everything included (drink, food and tax) was £23.95. This was just under $32 USD at the time. I was quite happy with this value. I will consider another visit next time I am in Cambridge.

Unequivocally the best Indian restaurant in the city center of Cambridge. Most standard curry…read morehouses in the UK tend to oversaturate their dishes with excessive amounts of oil and grease. Vedanta, on the other hand, eschews this ubiquitous practice of "over-oiling" in favor of a more finesse-based approach. The end product is an absolutely delightful array of curry comestibles. Ample vegetarian options are available on the menu. It is certainly not the spiciest eating establishment in Cambridge - but if you are a heat-seeker, you can certainly ask the staff the increase the spice-level if you are so inclined. In sum, a delicious option for standard North Indian fare within easy walking distance of the bus station and the train station. As a one time student at the university, I searched extensively for the best place in town to get a curry - and this is undoubtedly it! Pro Tip: You should consider making a reservation on weekends, as it can sometimes get busy - otherwise you might have to wait for a bit for a table to open up.

Indian food, not very spicy so if you are afraid of hot food this is your place. We would have…read moreprefer a bit more of a kick. We ordered for some onion bhajis as one starter for 3 of us to share and they brought us three different starters so we ended up with 12 onion bhajis and not very hungry for the mains.

Our lamb vindaloo was very good, with a nice pleasant spice, good tender lamb, and a very fruity gravy, a little more so that I typically get, but still pretty good. The butter chicken wasn't quite as flavorful as it sometimes is, but did have a pat of butter on top of the dish (hardly necessary, but why not) and the prawn disk we ordered had a similar nice dark rich gravy and lots of nice big prawns. They were shell on, which made for a bit of a mess when it came time to eat, but still very good. Our naan and papadum were also good, but...no mint corriander chutney! We probably should have asked, but it wasn't provided with the papadum. Service was attentive. I will say that this got a little expensive, but I also think that Indian food tends to be that way by the time you're done ordering all of the bread and rice and whatever else - individual entrees don't seem that expensive, but it creeps up on you by the time you're done. This is probably a very strong 3 - I'd definitely head back if given the chance.

Food was good. But tonight's order was a disaster! I ordered from *their* website but the…read morerestaurant said they did not receive it despite my card being charged and receiving an order confirmation. The guy said I can reorder since I'm there and so I did. Not only did I have to wait for the food but was told that I would have to contact a third party for a refund! He had to charge my card for the reorder and it was left to me to correct their mistake by contacting a third party for a refund for the online order?! It's completely absurd and a lack of accountability for them to place the legwork on their customers when they are trying to cut out the middleman that they promote on their own website! We are here on holiday and making international calls to correct someone else's mistakes is not a getaway. There was ONE person servicing the tables. He tried his best to help but he said he's new and there was no manager onsite. It's such a poorly run operation that puts their incompetence and greed over their customers. Avoid! The food does not make up for the inconvenience, experience, and lack of service.

My daughter will spend 3 years in Cambridge, we will definitely come back more.
