You know, the funny thing about this place is that I've come here quite a few times over the years,…read morebut I've never actually sat down inside and enjoyed the bouza ice cream. Usually, whenever I pass by, the indoor and outdoor seating is completely full. So I was lucky that when I came by on a Tuesday around 3 PM, it was pretty much empty. There are so many flavors to choose from, but I decided to play it safe and stick with ones I know I really like. First, I went with achta because nobody does it better than Bouza. The second flavor I chose was pistachio and lastly, I went with almond. I got it in the larger size, but next time, I might just go with the small because it was a lot. I loved how the achta was smooth and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. The pistachio flavor was just as creamy, and topped with crushed pistachios that were super fresh. You could immediately tell the quality was there. The service here was great, super friendly and helpful. They offered samples and answered any questions. Overall, it was a really pleasant and happy experience, best enjoyed with family and friends.

Stumbled upon this bakery and wasn't disappointed…read more I ordered the half zaatar/half cheese manoushe and it was pretty big, fresh, and tasty. There's an option to add veggies, but I decided to have it as is. I also tried the lahmajoun, which was full of flavor and really filling. There are a few tables for dining in, as well as some imported grocery items available. There can be a bit of a wait for your order, but I honestly don't mind since the manoushes are made fresh to order.

Discovered this humble place a few years ago upon a suggestion of a relative who praised them for…read morehaving one of the best zaatar pizzas in town. Went and gave them a try. Now a regular, once every other week I gotta have my zaatar fix. So the generous stars given here are for the zaatar item only as I tried their other products (except the sweets) and found them to be decent, nothing disappointing. I would pick up any other item from their menu if I'm not feeling particularly choosy that day. It'll do the trick. According to my tastebuds, they take the crown for the zaatar pizza. Delicious dough, the right thickness and size but most importantly the zaatar mix itself. That right amount of sumac and perhaps other ingredients are used which dictates my judgment for this food. A warning tho, you have to advise them not to crisp your pizzas. If you don't like them well done, just ask them not to do so or otherwise they will. Looks like it's their standard way of baking the zaatar. Not for me, I don't like my zaatar slightly burnt. I tried almost all other well known bakeries in Laval and Montreal that sell zaatar along with other similar Lebanese/Syrian specialties and the closest one that comes to Najah's zaatar is the hole in the wall Arax bakery on Samson street. A runner up worth giving a try also. As for their sweets.... hmmm, I personally don't come to these type of bakeries for sweets. It's not their main specialty so it could be a hit or miss taste experience and also, freshness will play a major role. Throughout my numerous visits there, I haven't witnessed not even once anyone ordering baklavas and this is a busy bakery, specially on weekends.

This was always a classic hang-out spot for us who grew up in Laval in the 90's / early 2000's!…read moreI still love their cheesecake - it's literally the best I've ever had. Great drinks too. Love the coffee with Bailey's! The Laval location doesn't seem to offer a full menu anymore, which is a shame. They had good sandwiches. Always busy with a great atmosphere. Watch out if you come in late - after 9pm - they may not have much choice of pies available anymore, as we found out recently :)

Ah Rockaberry, my all time favorite place for a slice of pie, or two! Or maybe three, but that's…read morefor sharing! I've been coming here for years and I'll admit, I don't come for the food, I come for the dessert! Have a craving for something sweet, Rockaberry it is.. Don't feel like baking something at home, order Rockaberry... At this point, I think I've ordered pretty much all of the pies, though I never tried the key lime pie, just not something I would go for. A slice of pie from here is good. You get a good size portion, it's fresh and sweet, what more would you want from a pie? The first pie I ever tried was the rockabrownie. It's a brownie with cream. Can't go wrong with that. My favorite is the mochamisu, tastes like a tiramisu, it's light and not very sweet. I've ordered this flavor as a whole pie many times and the family enjoys it (24 hour notice to order whole pie, and you can ask for something to be written on the pie) Next up is the rockafetti, a love/hate relationship with it. This is a vanilla cake with a slab of sweet buttercream frosting, almost reminds me of a vanilla dunkaroo. Having the frosting on it's own is sickly sweet, but when you pair it with the cake, it's heaven. I've tried the oreo cheese pie and for me it was really heavy, I didn't really taste anything oreo, it was just cream cheese. Apple crumble cheese with ice cream is so good, you get pieces of delicious cinnamon apple and pairs so well with the vanilla ice cream and the caramel drizzle just puts this over the top. I've also tried the raspberry fudge cheese, and while it was good, I found it to be on the bitter side, due to the raspberries. Coconut cream pie was very light, and not too sweet. Cadbury caramel brownie, I found had way too much cream for my liking and not nearly enough of mini egg pieces. Overall, I've enjoyed the majority of pies, really hoping that Rockaberry comes out with new flavors!

I'm a die hard fan of Jack flat bbq since it's opening. But with the new menu, many thing change…read more The first thing you'll notice in that new menu is the daily special? Gone. . No more wonderful steak Philly on the Friday. Most of what was offered on that daily menu is permanently gone. They added many different poutine that actually existed before but part of a secret menu you could learn from their social network page. Some starter too. They change the recipe of some of the food. The Mac N cheese is now more creamier and the cheese is more present and flavourful. I never had it by itself, but in the poutine Mac TeX, it's a miss for me. It used to be the poutine I always take when I go there, poutine Mac TeX. Tried it 4 times already since the switch, always the same and I don't like it unfortunately. Maybe others don't. From the post they made on Instagram stating that it was now creamier due to popular demand, I guess that's how people like it. But I think people was taking it by itself and not into a poutine (I never see much people eating a mac te when I'm there). Also the new Mac N cheese on the Mac TeX make it you taste nothing except the creamy liquid cheese from the Mac N cheese, nothing else. I normally add the homemade steak sauce available on the table in the poutine and when I tried it with the new recipe, it wasn't good. I also trie the dirty Poutine. I totally forgot what it is. There's like 2 sauce, I think it's meat sauce? Sorry I really forget. It was good, but about half way through, I was done with the taste just like the current Mac TeX. I still finished it though. Again, it's not bad, everyone has different taste and I started by liking it. I had the same experience when eating the smashburger poutine after eating a smash burger. Don't do it, take either one, not both unless your really into the taste of smashburger cause that's the only thing you taste. Last time I went, I took again the smashburger double cheese and bacon, a must for me, and I took a regular poutine. First time in what, 2 years and at least 30 visit that I take the regular one. It was good. I do miss my og Mac TeX but it's a good replacement. The bonus is it cost about 10$ less and fill less, so I was able to take something off the desert menu for the first time. I toon the chocolate cake and it was very good. The service is always good when I go there. It might be a bit a miss when it's overbooked specially if your table is hidden In a corner (happened a bit in the past). The only reason I bring from 5 to 4 stars is only because I prefered the old menu and old recipe. I did talk to a staff last time about the Mac TeX recipe and was told sometime it's because of new chef. I guess he wasn't aware that the recipe actually change, he did seemed new since I hadn't seen him before. I'll talk to jack or one of the owner last time, not to bad mouth, simply to have feedback from customer on the menu.
