Ate Fe's Kitchen is a staple to the Maginhawa resident. Be it a student, a trike driver, a young family, or the area's panginoong maylupa, they know Ate Fe's, they've eaten there, and they've loved it.
PROS: Distinctive sisig taste that's really good. You may buy it to go, but you'd miss out on the presentation of the towel-clad staff bringing it towards you with all its flailing oil and smoky glory. Quick, mix it!; Satisfying meals for 65 pesos. You could buy two meals for yourself on a bad day; They sell pancit by the bilao which you could order and claim in 30 minutes. It's affordable and delicious. Their large bihon con lechon costs P650.00, which we bring for family gatherings.
CONS: For the last few years, they've never really had a price increase. But their serving sizes have become significantly less and less. It's a shame, really, because they've been known to serve huge dollops of rice and ulam; Of course, it isn't fine dining, and you couldn't really expect the staff to be all over you. But sometimes, Ate Fe's people act even less than what is expected of a food service crew. Like one of the younger ladies working there smokes inside WHILE arguing and shouting profanities at her co-worker, who was ignoring her. She's the same woman who glares at us when we order something, like we disturbed her precious time staring into nothingness.
TL;DR: This is a carienderia, yes. But it is THE carienderia of Maginhawa. So bow down. read more
