I've always loved Middle Eastern food in general. There seem to be some differences between different countries, but there's a vast amount of similarities. I have never had Moroccan food, but they have these dishes cooked in clay pots that are unique and outstanding. The lamb was good. The salad was fresh and refreshing.

Omg, tried my first tagine after watching loads of YouTube travel videos and I'm in love! We had the lamb shank tagine with artichoke bottoms and peas and it was so good we ordered two to take home. The kabob was meh - do the tagine which is delivered in a traditional tagine YAY! Decor is authentic, they play Moroccan music and serve wonderful mint tea with authentic tea sets. Next time we are in Orlando we are coming back here! Extra details: They were accommodating about gluten free issues and because they cook in tagines I was able to avoid aluminum toxicity which is an issue with the majority of restaurants. Usually I can only eat salad or grilled items so the tagine was a huge plastic :)) Restrooms are clean and updated.

In town for Disney World parks, I happened to come across this listing when doing a restaurant search on Yelp. I love Morocco, Moroccan food, culture, etc., and there's DEFINITELY a lacking of Moroccan restaurants back home in Columbus, OH, so I made a point to check this place out. I originally stopped for lunch, but many of their traditional dishes were not ready yet, so I decided to come back for dinner (and get the full experience). Amine, front of the house hostess (maybe owner, too?), was welcoming with a smile. Dia was a fabulous waitress. She took time to explain the menu to me, gave suggestions, great friendly personality. I was super bummed they were out of their Chicken Bastilla appetizer, a thin pastry dough baked with chicken and almonds with a lite dusting of cinnamon and powder sugar on top for esthetics, but they were out, since they bake them fresh each day. Instead I went with the Seafood Bastilla - grouper and shrimp mixed with mushrooms. Not much in the way of distinctive flavors. I would pass on this, but still want to try their Chicken one, should I return! I ordered a small pot of their Moroccan mint tea served on a small silver tray with a lovely blue-rimmed Moroccan glass. The fresh mint smelled wonderful. While waiting, Dia brought out of the blue there appetizer sampler for me to try: Marinated Kalamata olives, homemade hummus, and Zaaluk, which incorporates mashed tomatoes, eggplant and spices; pillow-soft. The hummus was very good, just the way I like it - not lemony (I don't like the tart of lemon mixed with mashed chickpeas). The Zaaluk was also good; great roasted eggplant flavor and pillow soft. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the lamb SHANK with my tagine dish (sold out). When asked if I still wanted the dish, but with a different part of the lamb's leg, Dia assured me it would be just as tender and juicy; I really wanted to try a true tagine, so I went with the substitution and happy I did. The lamb was incredibly tender and absolutely insanely flavorful. The hint of sweetness from the prunes and apricots was divine. I wish there was a heaping helping of their caramelized onions they were so dang melt in your mouth wonderful. This was definitely in the top runnings for the best experience I've had eating true Moroccan food - my first experience with light tagine cooking, too. I would gladly give Ataj 10 stars!

Four of us sampled many of their signature dishes. They were all very good. Two soups Moroccan and lentil were very tasty. The eggplant zaaluck was very nice, as was the merquez or sausages. For mains we had stewed lamb shank and half chicken chicken in a terrine. They were all very good. Finally seafood bastilla which is a pastry stuffed with fish. The mint tea was good to finish. Mostly highly recommended.

The food was delicious, it was my first time going to a Moroccan restaurant and I loved the flavors. The restaurant is in a plaza, our first impression was that it looked clean but in need of some TLC. There were only 2 tables, but we decided to try and it was worth it. The service was a bit slow but she was friendly. Regardless I would come back.

What a great surprise to find ATAJ MOROCCAN RESTAURANT near the hotel where we were staying. We went for lunch and we're impressed with the service, cleanliness and most of all the extensive menu and delicious Chicken CousCous and lentil soup that we ordered. It was so fresh and flavorful and beautifully presented. I can't wait to return to taste some of the other dishes on the menu.

If you're in the area you must try this place! The food was absolutely excellent. We tried the appetizer sampler, falafel, chicken and couscous, lamb, and falafel sandwich. The food was so fresh and flavorful. Literally the best couscous and falafel we've had in awhile. Service was excellent. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Also very helpful. The overall ambiance was excellent. We really enjoyed the decor and vibe.

First time eating at a Morrocan restaurant. Ate here for lunch and ordered the Lamb Couscous. The flavor was a perfect blend of lamb, sweet from the raisins, vegetables cooked to perfection. The lamb was so tender the meat fell right off the bone. The service was friendly and informative. Definitely will return!

Sorry took the picture after i almost finished my plate. Tagine lamb with prunes! Delicious!

My go-to order is the Vegetarian Platter with a rotating side and sweets. This dish comes with hummus, zaalouk (eggplant spread), Moroccan salad (tomatoes, red onions, and green peppers), and pita bread. It always tastes so fresh! I enjoy the variety of this platter as well as the variations of each item as the seasoning can vary slightly. This platter would also make a great appetizer to share. Today, I also tried the Falafel Sandwich for the first time. I enjoyed the texture of the bread- crispy crust with a soft interior. The falafel was delicious! Great flavor. Not too dense, not dry. The toppings paired well with the falafel. THE GARLIC SAUCE! That sauce was so good! My only wish was that there was more of it. Next time, I'll definitely order it with extra. The sandwich was very filling, especially paired with.... THE FRIES. What a surprise! These are some of the best fries I've ever had. LOL They were perfectly crispy on the outside, yet the right ratio of potato-y for a fry. The flavor was great, so much so I ate all of them plain. No ketchup needed! Although I bet they would taste great dipped in their garlic sauce or Harissa hot sauce. For a sweet treat, I ordered Almond Ghriba and Pistachio Baklava. The Almond Ghriba is my new favorite! It's similar in texture to my all-time favorite shortbread cookies and the almond flavor is delightful. A subtle sweet, if you will. The Pistachio Baklava was also tasty, but too sweet for my preference. The pistachio gave it a wonderful nutty flavor that helped tame the sweetness. The Baklava would pair well with their espresso! I've ordered to-go from here several times. The service is always quick and the food never disappoints! I've dined-in only once and the ambiance makes you feel like you're in Morocco. Beautiful decor! The colors, the patterns. It's wonderful to take in as you wait for your food to arrive. I need to visit more often!

**INITIAL REVIEW** I…read moream currently on a Greek/Mediterranean food kick after eating it, which was fantastically made and indulged in, when I was at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, FL. To my delight, Melbourne Main Street a.k.a. Historic Downtown Melbourne finally had such food added to its food scene when Aya Mediterranean Cuisine (which I will shorthand simply to Aya for the remainder of this review) opened up. Eventually, I got to try Aya out albeit their lunch menu initially. What I got was a fantastic meal in which I long to try more of their fare. Aya is located on the northern side of New Haven Blvd. in Historic Downtown Melbourne. It is the last business on the west side of the train tracks, which used to be Continental Flambe if anyone remembers that. I went in at the latter end of Aya's lunch hours as they close around 2 p.m. to prepare for the dinner rush. The decor looks more like a rustic upscale tavern flanked by fine dining decor, both from the 1980s. Aya was clean with the space optimized to fit the most patrons during a rush, but the restaurant does need some TLC. Almost all the ceiling's tiles had water damage and the carpet was frayed. Not sure if this is something Aya can fix or if the landlord of the building is blocking them from doing renovations, but it is noticeable. To keep things simple, I ordered the Gyro Wrap ($13.99), which was seasoned beef and lamb with feta cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce. Side options can be more traditional sit-down with rice or a salad (I assume it is a feta salad), but more of the "fast food" route with fries. I like how they deconstructed the wrap with the slices of beef and lamb, veggies, and sauce being separate, but assembled with pita cut into corners/chips. Yet, all the lamb and beef are on top of one small pita so you can add the veggies and sauce. And if you ordered fries, you can add them in too for the "food truck" experience. Not sure if Aya will allow you to use ketchup on a gyro wrap though. On a sidenote, there was a back "bar" area where alcoholic beverages are sold, and the restrooms - at least the men's restroom - was clean. Ultimately, Aya blends class with a family-feeling when eating at their restaurant. They even give more specification to their food as the generalization may be Greek/Mediterranean, but they have specialization in Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine, something I am sure the family whom owns it, spearheaded by the owner and chef Ziad Aseid, envisioned when they opened this restaurant. Despite the visual issues I found with the restaurant itself, Aya is a solid four-out-of-five stars for their initial review. If they are consistent with their food and service, I will give them their fifth star for consistency in an updated review.

Employees should use mask during pandemic. 2. Serve real plate instead of styrofoam box for the food if customers dine in. Other than that, they are great restaurant and good service to the local. We order two plate from chef special. The first dish is the Le Carnivore. This is the grilled skew steak and chicken. The steak was process and good tender. The chicken has the marinated spice into the meat. The hummus is like soft like the silk. They must take time grind and prepare this hummus. The Morocco shlada or "salad" is well prepared. Love it. Our second dish is the mermaid. This is grilled salmon and skew shrimp. This seafood combo dish. The shrimp is large and the fish is good. Our appetizer is one of the best falafel.
