    I rented 52nd Gateway from January 21 to January 26, 2025 with my 5 friends to attend the Barrett…read moreJackson Auction. The house was an extreme disappointment with 40+ safety and broken items starting with exposed wires in the front and rear yards, missing door hinges, scotch tape holding a chair leg, blood stains on bedsheets, piles of trash in the 3rd garage area, broken off swimming pool room door, exterior A/C unit with wires sticking out the top, patio support post rotted away at the bottom, toilet roll holders missing in all bathrooms, bugs in light fixtures, cold room with no heat whatsoever...the list goes on. After the first night our group was disgusted. We checked around but no large property was available at the last minute since we already paid in full and if we found another place didn't have the immediate funds to rent another place so we stuck it out, made a list of deficiencies with extensive photos and filed a Compensation Request Form online. To date there has been no response. A letter outlining the issues to Destination Arizona at the listed address of 7077 E. Marilyn Rd STE 130, Scottsdale AZ. was mailed. It was resent twice but came back "RETURN TO SENDER-VACANT UNABLE TO FORWARD" At this juncture I went to the website DestinationAZVacations.com to the chat. I saw the house,52nd Gateway, on the site. The chat response was they couldn't help with anything except booking. My last try will be to send our complaint to another address with the same name though it appears to be a residential single family home. If no response I will contact VRBO with my serious complaint. I am a VRBO Premier Host in Florida and would be ashamed to rent a house in such poor condition.

I see the other Yelp reviews, and I would tell anyone looking at this rental to look at Airbnb and VRBO reviews, and would also add my experience has been stellar, the location and value are second to none, and the owners are responsive and amazing.     I also had a very similar experience with this SCAMMER BRUCE…read more I used HomeAway and booked an 8 bedroom, 6 bathroom property in Scottsdale marketed as the "Delcoa Home" in February 2017. The booking is for November 2017 (next week). About a month after booking Bruce emails and asks me if i can take another home called the "City Lights" home - he states it is an upgrade and he will do it for free. I tell him "no I need an 8 bedroom house." Then 3 days ago (we are scheduled to leave for our trip, 14 adults, next week); I email Bruce because his "company" called RENTAL GUEST sends me a new rental contract to sign for the "City Lights" property. I then ask Bruce why I am receiving this new rental contract since I already booked the Delcoa home and told him the 6 bedroom City Lights property would not work for us. Bruce then tells me it is an upgrade and that Home Away is 'forcing owners out of business." He gives me this long bullshit story. Also, he tells me he cannot accept my Damage Deposit by credit card and needs me to wire $800 to his bank account. I tell him I have never had to pay a damage deposit other than through Home Away and I refuse to wire him money. I also tell him the "City Lights" house is NOT going to work for us and I want a refund. Bruce calls back and offers me pool heating for free, then a $500 discount, then $1000 discount, then $2,000 discount. I tell Bruce even free, the house doesn't work for us and I no longer trust him. He tells me he will process a refund. It is now 3 days later and he is refusing to process a refund. He keeps arguing that one of my messages gave him approval of the change, but there is no rental agreement signed and there are NUMEROUS messages indicating that the "City Lights" house won't work for me. He is a SCAMMER. BEWARE OF ANYONE NAMED BRUCE TRYING TO RENT VACATION PROPERTIES IN ARIZONA. HE WILL PULL A BAIT AND SWITCH AND TRY TO GET YOU TO ACCEPT A PROPERTY THAT YOU NEVER SIGNED UP TO RENT. HE WILL TRY TO GET YOU TO SIGN A RENTAL AGREEMENT OR HE WILL TWIST YOUR WORDS INTO PERCEIVED ACCEPTANCE OF THE CHANGE. HE WILL ALSO TRY TO GET YOU TO WIRE FUNDS FOR A DAMAGE DEPOSIT. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

    left after 8 scorpions were found-one right above my sons head in his bed!-nothing like pictures…read morethat must have been taken when new 10 years ago-old-worn-dirty-who gives mismatched towels and stained-soap watered down with water-ripped lounge chairs and hammock-games that don't work-dirty bathrooms-main tv doesn't work-the management needs to go out there and take a look at what they are selling-spend most of vacation complaining about things broken or dirty-never again!

Please don't patronize them as either an owner, or guest renter…read more We worked with them for two miserable years as absentee owners of a lovely vacation property -- they were consistently incompetent, unreliable, and most importantly, downright dishonest. We got to the point that we could not believe anything they told us, and are now convinced they just want your money. This attitude flowed from the highest level of their management all the way down. They repeatedly neglected basic maintenance and failed to perform services they promised to deliver. There was a high degree of turnover in the staff, probably a reflection of poor internal management. Their ability to market a property properly using technology is wildly oversold, ineffective, and primative. They made us look bad as owners, and made many renters unhappy by not attending to guest and owner needs. They made everyone's lives more difficult, not less -- don't let them do the same to you. They do NOT deserve your business!
