Both May and Fanny are super helpful in dress selection and very patient. I tried on at least 10+ dresses before figuring out which one I wanted to go with. After you pick your dress, they'll help you put it on. They'll even help you take pictures with the best angles if you need with that. The rental process itself was pretty simple. After you say yes to the dress, you'll go back for a fit appointment where they'll measure you so they can fit the dress to your body. Next appointment is to try on the dress and see if anymore alterations are needed. Final appointment is to pick up the dress. Their selection is vast, they have everything from ball gowns, to mermaid dresses, a lines, and even Chinese tea ceremony attire! There were so many dresses there that I loved that it was hard to pick one! All of her dresses are extremely high quality - you can tell by the intricate beading, high quality fabric, and amazing workmanship. May is extremely knowledgeable and honest and she really took the time to listen to what I wanted and I loved her feedback and thoughts. The dress rental price also included 2 veils, alterations (2 fittings), cleaning, and a hair piece. I honestly thought that the price we paid for the dress was extremely fair since alterations & dress dry cleaning can already be extremely costly. The entire process from pick up to drop off was so seamless and easy. May is extremely efficient and organized and it felt great knowing that I was in good hands. What truly sets May apart is her kindness and commitment to making you feel beautiful on your wedding day. 2 days before my wedding, I started feeling like my dress was a bit too tight on one area. I emailed May at 11pm and she responded instantaneously telling me to come in the next morning so she can check it out. Wedding planning is stressful enough, let alone finding THE dress. A friend recommended AT Romance and I loved the idea of renting a dress (because I know I'll never wear it again and also...alterations are crazy expensive!) and having a one-stop shop for everything bridal related. May, the owner, offers free consultations and you can chat with her before committing to anything. They also have a free initial dress appointment for 1 hour (typically can try on 5-6 dresses in this time frame). Any subsequent appointments are $35 and 1.5 hours long. It's a small shop, so there might be someone else looking for gowns, but when I went, we had the store to ourselves and it made for an intimate, yet comfortable experience. I think you're only allowed 2 guests because the space is so limited. I ended up booking the City Hall ceremony package which includes the dress and alterations, hair/makeup, veil and one hair accessory, as well as photography for 2 hours. May is very responsive over email and kindly answered all my questions. There is street parking available on the main road, but if you park on the side streets (where the residential housing is), the road is somewhat narrow. I looked on yelp for "wedding dress rentals" and AT Romance was at the top of the list. To prepare for my appointment, I looked at the website and took note of which dresses I wanted to try on. You are sent a questionnaire (asking for general information) and a reminder for the appointment that you can schedule online. When you go in, make sure you take your shoes off; slippers are provided for you to wear. For my initial visit, I tried on 5-6 different dresses and I immediately found the one that I loved. The rental price was on the higher end, but this included my rental of the qi pao (Chinese wedding dress), two cushions, a hair piece and a tea pot set that was used for the tea ceremony and Chinese banquet. Overall, the money was well its worth because I had two lovely dresses and accessories that I used and didn't need to find space for after the wedding. May is the owner of AT Romance and she is a delight to work with! She's very friendly, sweet polite and professional. I really appreciate the efficiency of it all, especially as a full-time working bride. The rental package includes the dress, two veils, and the cleaning fee. I had a December wedding and my ceremony happened in a garden. Although it wasn't raining, my dress got super muddy and it was such a good feeling knowing the dress could get dirty and my rental package covered it. Kept me stress-free all day on my wedding day! At Romance was where I found the dress of my dreams! I was very particular about wanting to rent my dress. I just really did not want to buy a gigantic wedding dress for one time use and then store it in the closet forever. However, since I was renting, I thought I would have to settle for a dress that's pretty, but not one that I LOVED. At Romance was the last shop I went to to find a dress. May was kind/knowledgeable and her styles were very different from the ones I've seen in other stores. Others were lacy and pretty but May even had very grand dresses! I would have also wanted to rent other gowns (reception dress, Chinese gown) at this studio if I didn't already have them. When I was wedding gown shopping in early spring, I already went to a few bridal stores and was feeling a bit down by the wedding dress buying process. I finally googled "wedding dress rental" and booked an appointment with AT Romance. The moment I walked through the door, May was so friendly and fun to work with. She pulled many dresses for me to try on. I stopped trying on dresses after I found 3 contenders, but May wanted to make sure I saw all my options and said she was happy to pull more dresses if I wanted. I went home and made my decision on my dream dress the next day. After I paid the deposit, we had 2 fittings and I picked up the dress a few days before my wedding. My wife and I got married in Feb this year, and we planned 6 months ahead and thought we might have sufficient time to work out the wedding plans. But we later realized that this wouldn't be possible if we didn't stop by at At Romance and meet Mei. Because of Covid, we first did our research online and YouTube(where we knew the name), and finally did the in person trial and shopped around the Bay for months. Just to find the wedding gown satisfied my wife's style (after all it's once a lifetime, hopefully lol) and fits in our budget. Conclusion: they offer the best value in our case. Mei was patient and detail. She helped us through selection, alternation, and went over all details. In addition, she also answered all of our questions from gown to wedding planing and beyond. Because of the supply chain shortage, and customer volumes, the production time was way longer than usual. But Mei was able to deliver timely and save us some buffer to fine tuned the gown. Although the appointments were so full, Mei always went over all the details and communicated with us thoroughly, and made us feel inclusively. Bonus: she also introduced us some photographers, decorators, and makeup artist solutions. Saved us almost $5,000 from our original budget!!! And lot of time and effort to find the vendors. It's great to get a feel for a more fitted dress. - Shop is really only made for one bride consultation, as the dressing room spans one wall. I believe you can order some dresses that aren't event displayed at the shop. - Seven day rentals would not work for my situation, since we're getting to our destination early. The woman helping suggested that I have someone else bring back my dress (no thank you). - My group had so much trouble finding this place when we arrived. It's facing the street, but not very visible with the store name. - There's not much parking in the area, and the business from a very popular restaurant nearby makes it even more difficult. All street parking. We arrived late to the appt and the woman was on the speaker phone with another bride, which made for an awkward experience. She told me I only had 30 minutes (fine, challenge accepted). My birthstone is the diamond so of course we went diamond white. She added pockets and a slit and never got annoyed when I asked her to modify something--very professional. May was very helpful coordinating with Joey (Jbeautique) for hair and make up. Joey is an excellent HMUA. She did a thorough job at the trial and came right on time (at 6 am!). Communicating with her was very easy and her prices were reasonable. I have very thick wavy hair that challenges hairdressers, but Joey handled it no problem and gave me exactly the hairstyle I wanted. She was even able to work in the last minute addition of a veil. For makeup, I had no idea what I wanted but Joey soothed all my worries and gave me a nice, clean look with very little direction on my part. I highly recommend her!! read more
