Last year around the holidays, it started having occasional problems with the reclining feature. Sometimes the back wouldn't go all the way up, or the footrest might sag a little on one side, but it always self corrected within a few uses. I planned on calling after the holidays. Then we started passing around either the bad flu going around, or Covid, not sure which. Things didn't get back to normal til the beginning of March. I noticed that the recliner was having reclining problems more often. So I got out my paperwork, and called the number on it, and talked to the woman who answered. Answered all her questions. I was told that because I hadn't called within 30 days of first noticing the problem, it wouldn't be covered, but I could pay a repairman to come fix it. I told her NOWHERE on the pamphlet or receipt did it say that, and no, I wasn't paying for a repairman. She sent me an email, and in the title was the word Amazon. I didn't buy my furniture through Amazon. I went to a local store, because I thought I would get a repairman from that store, not one from an Amazon company. I'm very disappointed with Slumberland, and will think twice about buying anything from them again.

I clearly stated more than once that I was "just browsing" and "doing fine", but everywhere I turned this guy was trying to sell me something. When I actually did purchase a table - not one that he was trying to push on me, and not with the chair upsell - the checkout and pickup process was fine. I asked for some follow-up information via phone on a different product and received it quickly. I'd be willing to try Rubin's again, but perhaps at the downtown Madison store next time.

I had first entertained the idea of purchasing said chair a few months ago and went in to see their selection. Prior to going in, I had found a 10% off coupon in the Reader, so the incentive to purchase from Rubin's rose proportionately. They had a vast selection of modern contemporary furniture on 2 levels. I had a hard time deciding exactly what to select, but after perusing the inventory, I made up my mind. The salespeople were very friendly and helpful, and not at all pushy. The particular chaise I ordered wasn't in stock and had to be ordered from their warehouse in Madison, WI and would take approximately 8 weeks. I was disappointed to have to wait so long, but good things come to those who wait. I got my chair about 3 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It's comfortable as well as stylish. Can a piece of furniture be sexy? Absolutely. And I just ordered a second chair.

Review for Pink Poodle - Visit on 10/4/25…read more I went with my best friend and her mom, and when we first walked in my mood immediately improved. The store itself is visually stunning -- I loved the look and atmosphere right away. We browsed through the displays and were especially impressed by the jewelry area. We moved on to the headdresses and wigs, which caught our attention. The wigs looked to be in good condition, though priced higher than we expected. Some of them were placed too high up to reach, and only after we had looked at a few did we notice a small sign taped to one of the mannequin heads saying not to touch them without staff assistance. This wasn't obvious when we first walked by, so it was a little confusing. Later, while checking out some decorative headbands, I tried to take one down to look at it more closely. A staff member came over and asked if I was going to a party. When I explained I just wanted to try it on, she firmly told us not to touch items unless we were planning to buy. My friend joined me, and the staff member continued to tell us we were handling things wrong. It felt awkward because we hadn't noticed any clear signs in that section before, but after she pointed it out we saw similar wording posted elsewhere in the store. Overall, the store itself is very unique and worth seeing, but I don't think it's very teen-friendly. The policies and signage could be more clearly displayed and consistent throughout the store to prevent misunderstandings. If you go, I recommend bringing an older person along, and definitely take a full walk around to read all the posted rules before touching anything.

Because I…read moream eleventy-million weeks pregnant, the dresses were all about a size too small to accommodate my growing belly--so I took all three dresses back to Kohls just a couple of days later in hopes to exchange them for store credit so that I could size up. As they were a gift, I did not have the card that was used to purchase the items, nor did I have a receipt. I figured it would be ok because the dresses still had all their tags on, they were purchased mere days prior, clearly had never been worn, and I was simply requesting store credit (not cash or anything). So, I hauled my giant, tired, pregnant self over to Kohls with my toddler in tow just to exchange these damn dresses. I was asked to give a phone number, email, and my state-issued drivers license. I freely gave this information. Then, the woman working there told me that without a receipt, they could only issue half-store credit. So, if I wanted to return the dresses, valued at around $100 for all three, for store credit, I would only get $50 store credit. Engage internal Karen mode. I ended up calmly and quietly just saying, " ok, I'll go home and find the receipt and bring them back for a full refund"...which I fully intend to do, this evening. And then, instead of keeping my money within that same store via store credit/exchange as I initially intended, I will walk out, spend the entire amount elsewhere, and probably never go to Kohl's again, as the vibe, price point, and shockingly worsening customer service leave so much to be desired. I understand that there could be a situation in which someone steals clothing, leaves the tags on, and then tries to return the items for cash....that probably happens all the time. I am sure this policy is an attempt to address that. However, it seems misapplied and misguided to use this policy against someone who is trying to exchange recently purchased, brand new, items for store credit. (Especially when the customer doing so gladly presents their government-issued photo ID and it is a couple of days after a national gift-giving holiday) Now though, I have to go through the hassle of going to Kohls all over again, taking another hour out of my day, in order to rectify something that should already have been fixed in like 5 minutes. And now, instead of just keeping my money within the store, I am taking it all elsewhere. Seems like a really stupid policy. I get that we live in a low-trust society, where theft is rampant. Despite this, I still don't have to patronize businesses that default treat all their customers with suspicion. For years, the selection and prices at Kohls had been mid, at best. The main reason to go to Kohls was always that they had great customer service and a stellar return policy. If that's no longer the case, and it seems to be, then I have no reason to go. Also, Kohls cash is now excluded for any sort of "premium" brands that they carry (Nike, Sephora, etc) so that sucks too. I see Kohls going the way of Sears...once they piss off the Midwestern moms and grandmas, their core clientele, the end is near.
