Unfortunately, that commitment was not reflected in the service we received. We have sustained thousands of dollars in damage to belongings that represent years of hard work and investment. All of this damage occurred during the moving process itself due to careless handling by crew. When I contacted the company, the owner wouldn't even call me back. After purchasing our now forever home in White House, TN, we decided to hire a local full service moving company. The previous 2x's, we rented a large U-haul truck & hired U-haul's recommended co to handle the physical part of it. Both times, there were 2 men. Both times they did a fantastic job. Not a thing was broken or disturbed & the cost was very reasonable. Enter Family Movers - They recommended 3 men at a cost of $209 per hour + a $99 trip charge. It ended up being $1300 + to move us 9 blocks. (Twice the cost of U-haul.) It was a hot day (6/25/25), but we had cold bottles of water for the guys & the A/C on full blast. The load in was easy. 25' from our 1 story ranch to their old truck. One of the guys spent more time complaining & finding ways to stay inside where it was cool. We had some expensive pieces of furniture, I pointed out. One being a 150 yr old trunk from Europe that ultimately ended up getting tossed around, throwing the contents inside all around, breaking a delicate, decorative cover. Next, we caught one of their guys ROLLING our round leather ottoman full of priceless family keepsakes & photos out to the truck! As they finished unloading & were in a rush to get out the door, I asked them if they had re-hooked up our washer & dryer? They hadn't. (Should movers disconnect appliances, they're obligated to reconnect them). After they supposedly took care of reconnecting the washer & dryer, they left. The next day, we needed to do laundry. It turns out they ripped the end of the dryer vent hose & didn't take the extra 2 mins to place it back on correctly using a screwdriver to tighten the clamp on the hose. (our laundry room was completely wet). They also lost the clamp to the washer hose, and water FILLED our new laundry room! I contacted FM's boss, sent him photos & an explanation, but he blamed us!!! NEVER USE THEM!!!

While their pricing was slightly higher than other quotes we received, our previous experience with them gave us complete confidence that the job would be done right. Kimberli (one of the owners) is exceptional with communication, and every member of the crew was kind, professional, and extremely careful with our belongings. They moved a heavy cast iron tub for me from my garage to the master bathroom. They were organized…read moreand professional. I thought they had done a good job and left them a great review. However, after they left I found several issues. They dragged the tub through a tight turn, which left a mark and gouge on my hardwood floor. This also chipped the porcelain on the tub rim. I told them the tub had to be on its side to go through the bathroom door. They tried it the other way and gouged the door casing on both sides. At some point, they chipped the porcelain on the base. The owner was apologetic and promised to send someone to look at the damage. No one ever called. I fixed the chips, scratches, and gouges myself. They charged $500 for this project and kept telling me what a favor they were doing me by not charging more.

He needed to put the contents of his studio apartment into storage...a week before his lease was up. Lakeview Movers was able to help him at the very last minute. They were friendly, quick, efficient, and very affordable. He doesn't have a car and was planning to take a cab to/from the storage facility. The movers offered to take him to the storage facility...and then they gave him a ride back home! Awesome customer service. He plans to use them again when he brings his things out of storage and into a new apartment.

Shawn's ad immediately stood out from the rest because it linked to his yelp page- hooray! I am forever grateful for this means of getting the real scoop, and think it's a great idea for smaller companies/laborers to have a page that sets them apart from the sketchier folks on Craigslist. The glowing reviews were right on the money! Shawn and Eden left my apartment less than a half hour ago and I'm happy to give them another great review. My move was as below: -From a 6th floor apt with an elevator that leads to the back alley to a 3rd floor apt with no elevator, approx 2 miles away. -One medium sized sofa (3 cushions across), 2 ottomans, 1 dinette/breakfast table for two, and 1 very tall bookshelf Not too much stuff, and Shawn quoted me a $120 flat fee for two movers and his pick up truck. Though it's not necessarily INexpensive, compare it to big companies, who charge an average $90/hr for two movers, with an avg 2 hour minimum and $45 travel fee. I think I got a great deal, and if I had paid much less I would have worried that I was exploiting some hardworking folks. Shawn and Eden were about 20 minutes late- they did call me at 4:05 (moving time was 4p) to let me know they would be here soon. I was slightly annoyed, as I would have preferred a heads up before 4p, but can understand that that's not always possible. They started working as soon as their feet hit the ground, and the whole move lasted from 4:20-5:15ish, under an hour! Shawn and Eden were personable, quick, and careful with my possessions. They knew just how to angle my stuff so it fit into a teeny elevator. They made sure everything was tied down in their truck so nothing would accidentally fall out or anything. They also let me ride back to my apartment with them, which I appreciated a lot. Four stars for the obvious reasons- they only have a pick up truck, and no insurance. No packing materials are provided, so wrap your own sofa/mattress if you're worried. But I would definitely recommend them for smaller, simpler moves like mine! A few things to keep in mind- always offer your mover some water! I was so surprised to hear that I was their third move of the day- and the smallest by far, it seems- and the first to offer water. And, try to build in as much flexibility into your moving day as possible, so that you aren't overstressed when the unexpected occurs, which is all too likely to happen. I would say 99% of movers don't enjoy being late to their next job, and 99% of the time it's not their fault- the office folks offered misleading estimates, a service elevator went bonkers or a reservation was screwed up, the previous customer underestimated the amount of crap they had, etc. I have found movers to be some of the most hardworking guys around and on the receiving end of a lot from stressed out customers, and it shouldn't be that way.
