Definitely DO NOT recommend. One out of three guys was outstanding the other two must have been hired off the street corner. These guys couldn't care less about your furniture or house. Damaged furniture, damaged walls and threatened to charge more to do it correctly. They took many breaks and even bummed food, then started taking it without asking. complained to the office and never heard a word back. Stay away from this company. We've moved 18 times and our experience today with our Tri-,Star team was THE BEST. Arriving on time.carefully protecting doorways and floors. No tome wasted, worked straight through until hous was emptied..Everything wrapped in blankets and shrink wrap. Followed our instructions and always very careful with everything they moved. Don't use this moving company under any circumstance. Call Black Tie Moving or literally anyone else. If you've already used Tri-Star, bank disputes, BBB complaints (specifically a complaint, not just a review), & Channel 4 News can be very helpful when dealing with unethical businesses. Tri-Star gave me a vastly inaccurate estimate despite having all of the information they requested in order to provide an accurate one. This resulted in the amount of time I was billed for being approximately 65% higher than it should have been *per their estimate*. After they finished loading the truck at the home I moved from, the movers, Corey & CJ, announced that they would be taking a lunch break before continuing on to the unload destination. This was the 11th time in my life that I've hired movers, & I've never once had them leave with my property to head to some unknown location for "lunch". When they arrived at the unload destination an hour later, one or both of them smelled strongly of marijuana. They also worked extremely slowly during the unloading process, with 10- to 15-minute gaps of time between when they would leave the apartment & return with more items from the truck. For no apparent reason, they removed the protective moving blankets from a cream colored suede sofa *before* bringing it into the apartment. It was a tight fit to get it through the door (the entire point of taking time I paid for to wrap it to begin with), & they ended up positioning themselves in such a way that one of them was outside pushing on it while the other was inside pulling on it to get it inside. As a result, the sofa was pressed hard & dragged against the door frame, which resulted in a large black grease smear from the hinge as well as white paint transfer from the frame, destroying it cosmetically. Tri-Star had preemptively added a $100 surcharge for fitness equipment the movers ultimately did not move; despite having been assured by the crew leader that the charge would be removed before I paid & that I would not be billed for their lunch break, I was in fact charged for both of these. Other past customers have also complained about being billed for lunch breaks they were told they wouldn't be charged for, so it seems a likely common practice for Tri-Star to tell customers they won't be charged then bill during the lunch break anyway knowing that most customers won't review their final invoice carefully enough to catch the overcharge. I broached my multiple concerns with Tri-Star Moving manager Austin Pate as soon as possible following the disastrous experience. I pity anyone who has to attempt to glean any comprehensible information from anything this guy says. He is extremely unprofessional & clearly uneducated, unable to write a coherent email or do basic addition. Some highlights from my correspondence with Austin: 1. It's acceptable for the movers to smoke "nicotine" vapes during a move while the customer is being billed $165/hour. He advised me that, since using marijuana during a job would be a fireable offense, it would be "outrageously stupid" for them to do so, therefore they must not have done it. He further stated, "I do know that some of my guys use that delta 8 stuff [...]." I was unfamiliar with "delta 8", but apparently it's some sort of synthetic marijuana. He admitted to having watched truck camera footage from my move & seen the movers using a "nicotine" vape. So apparently, a) again, it's okay for them to spend time vaping while a customer is paying $165/hour, &, b) he can tell from camera footage that their vape(s) contained nicotine, not marijuana. 2. Direct quotes from one of his gem emails, spelling & punctuation errors & all (asterisks added for emphasis): "As far as the couch being unwrapped on the truck instead of inside.. that seemed like a decision the crew leader made at the moment, and not necessarily something I'm going to choose to *scold him for*. He knows it was a *dumb decision* and *probably* won't let it happen again. I worked in the field for 8 year prior to becoming a manager, and I make mistakes still. The *heat* mixed in with *working days straight* can definitely make a man mess up from time to time. This is a very strenuous job, and puts a toll on the mind and body, so *careless mistakes* can and do happen. [...] I will say that in all of my years in this industry, *walking away with just a couch stain seems like a pretty good move*." Beware if you move in the spring, summer, or fall in TN, where the company is located; apparently heat excuses "dumb decisions" & "careless mistakes". If I was fine with having an expensive piece of furniture ruined, I wouldn't have paid people who represented themselves as professionals $165/hour plus travel, equipment, reservation, & other fees, I would have simply asked friends to help me. Stephen, Chad, and Jordan crushed it. Very pleased with their effort, communication, and care. They wrapped everything very well. I'm typically a do-it-yourselfer, and don't love not being in the know, but these guys took care of everything. We had one broken piece off of a mirror that the guys offered to glue up together on site. They were honest and upfront and willing to make it right. I would 100% use them again. I've moved several times, and feel like this was the first time that I was entirely comfortable and at ease with the professionalism and quality of the movers. Zach/Ziggy clearly loves his work and enjoys ensuring each piece of furniture is wrapped in an efficient and secure way, and Chris efficiently multitasked in getting boxes and prepared items to the elevator. I can't believe no one has reviewed this company here yet. I had to make sure this was the right listing... I guess everyone else is reviewing elsewhere?? ANYWAY... I don't typically take the time to write reviews (sorry), but I already had a feeling I would be as soon as I booked this move with Tri-Star. There's just something different about this team, and I felt completely at ease once I knew they'd be handling my move (1BR apt into storage). They go above and beyond to communicate effectively and pleasantly, treat you with courtesy and kindness, and move your items efficiently and safely. Their pricing is fair, and you can tell they take pride in their work and want to make sure you feel good about it. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the least stressful move I've ever had. Prior to speaking with Tri-Star, I had spoken to several other movers who had good reputations/reviews, but for some reason I just wasn't feeling good about my options. I had no peace. Right about that time, Britani at Tri-Star - who had actually been the first to respond to my online requests but I had not yet spoken to - popped up in my inbox again. I gave Britani a call, and my stress just evaporated as she patiently answered all my questions (and there were a lot!). She was so helpful and pleasant as she explained the whole process... and so was everyone else I interacted with at Tri-Star via phone, email, and text. Josh called me the day before the move to talk through moving-day logistics -- also a reassuring, stress-free experience. Hooray! Then on the day of the move, Austin and Jason showed up early after calling ahead to see if that would be okay with my schedule. Um, yes, please! They met my boyfriend at the apartment and really hustled while handling everything with care, making sure everything was packed safely, and then unloaded/packed into storage exactly where I needed it. The crew lacked experience in protecting furniture with adequate padding and did not load competently into the trucks with imbalance resulting in furniture shifting, items falling and breakage. The furniture had been previously moved over 30,000 miles without similar damage and this move totaled only 15 miles. Additionally, (and maybe fortunately), the crew left video screens and mirrors which we had to self pack and transport. Also, there was one bed that had to be reassembled; it was put back together incorrectly, so we had to fix that. We owned the hardwood rosewood furniture that was broken for 28 years, so we were shocked when the damage was noted and was given vocal denials by the crew who seemed to have minimal experience in packing, loading, as well as knowledge of and moving quality furniture. Compensation for the damage was provided which took hours of my time to arrange the repairs which was uncompensated. The glaring inability to professionally move is too obvious. Thankfully we packed, taped and labeled all our boxes before Tri-Star's arrival and had little damage to boxed goods. Totally disappointing and will never be repeated. read more

I was looking for a moving company to move a 3 bedroom apartment and contents of a detached garage to our new home. Was hoping to find a company to make my move a stress free experience. What I got was the complete opposite. I called Tri-Star Moving, described the move, agreed to their terms and booked the appointment. The contract stated the job would require 3 guys and I would be charged an hourly rate. They were confident they could do the job, assured me the move would go smoothly, and not to worry that they would handle everything. The crew was to arrive on Saturday morning between 7:00 - 8:00am. I received a call from Austin stating that 2 of the men booked for the job had called in sick and he was looking to find guys to fill in. I told him no worries. We would continue to pack up things on our end and if they were late we would understand. After a couple of hours he called and told me he still was unable to find any other guys and asked if he could do the move the next day on Sunday. I told him we needed to move that day as all of our things were packed and we had nothing to sleep on if our things were not moved that day. He told me he could try calling other moving companies to see if they could do the job instead but informed me that he could not assure that the move would be done to their standards if he used another company. I asked if he could supervise the new crew but told me he was located in Alabama and would not be able to be there. Regardless I asked him to find us another company to move. At this point I started to move a few items myself on my own in my wife's Honda Fit. (The only car we own). Ended up making arrangements with a new neighbor with a pickup truck who was gracious enough to move some mattresses we had so at least my family would not have to sleep on the floor that night. Spoke with Austin a couple of hours later and he said he had no luck finding another company. I told him since I was able to make arrangements to move some small items myself, I would agree to have him move everything else the next day on Sunday. He said I was making the right decision and offered me $20 off the hourly rate for the inconvenience and assured me the job would be handled on Sunday. Sunday arrives and the crew showed up with only 2 guys. I was contracted for 3. At no point was I notified to discuss a change in contract. I called Austin immediately and got his voicemail. (Evidently it was his day off and he could not be reached.) Guys on the job told me that they were unaware of the change, couldn't do anything about it, and I could discuss it with Austin when he returns to the office on Monday. I knew the 2 man crew would take longer than a 3 man crew and I would be billed accordingly. At this point there was nothing I could do as I needed my items moved. The 2 man crew proceeded to move my items which took 7 hours which I was billed for at an hourly rate. Spoke with Austin on Monday and asked why my contracted 3 guys was reduced to 2 without discussing it with me first. He said he assumed that since I moved some items myself that I no longer needed 3 guys for my move. He basically changed the contract on his own without my knowledge. I explained to him that since I was being charged hourly, the job took substantially longer with only 2 guys than it would have with 3 and I felt I was overcharged and asked for compensation. He said the time to do the job with 3 guys was "unknown" since there were only 2 and there was no guarantee that 3 guys would have done it any faster. Did you catch that? A professional moving company said they had no way of knowing if a moving job would be done faster with 2 guys or 3. Unbelievable. He refused to compensate me for the additional hours it took with only 2 guys and instead offered me a discount on the hourly rate which, at the end of the day, cost me more than what I would have spent with 3 guys I was originally contracted for. After my mother passed away I needed to move some of our treasured family heirlooms and furniture pieces to my home. Tri-Star Moving gave me a fair estimate and were punctual on the day of the move. I was blown away with how carefully they wrapped everything for the move. They even covered parts of the home so as to not damage anything. A blessing as the house had already been sold. Everything arrived to my home that same day and was carefully unpacked and placed exactly where I needed it. They even helped rearrange a few pieces of my furniture so I could fit everything perfectly. I felt like they treated my property as if it were their own. Garett at TriStar movers met with my parents and gave them a reasonable quote. My parents decided to use them. In the mean time my parents sold 1/3 of the things in their house and my sister and I packed a ton of boxes and I took them to my house. My parents gave them the full amount when they decided to use them. They came and packed up one day and then came back the next day to finish packing and load the items into the truck. They ran out of boxes and sent my elderly father to buy more. Not everything fit on the two truck. They did not finish packing the kitchen and left quite a few things on the back patio. They were suppose to go back the next day to get the things. But after unloading my parents things at their new house the movers wanted an additional $1200. And said it would be at least $300 more to go back and get the rest which that was stated in the contract. My 90 year old dad drove back to their house to pack up kitchen because they had closed on the house and needed to get it out. He could not get the other things because they were heavy and large. The company called almost a week later and said they would go get it but I told them I wanted to talk to the manager first. I have left messages for everyone, and no one will return my call. My mother has left messages too. All I want to know is why was it extra $1200? My parents didn't budget for that. And, they moved into a tiny place so they had to get rid of so much. My sweet mom gave the owner an antique wardrobe and a tv cabinet. she didn't expect anything in return but honesty. I am so sorry for my parents. I would never recommend this moving company. I have been thinking about calling Channel 4 to see if they can get some response from TriStar Movers. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! This was by far the worse experience I have ever encountered with a business that I have hired. I tried to type out the whole scenario but it was too long. But basically they did not fully do their job, and left us in a really bad situation. I have pictures and text messages to back up by story btw. Management was very hard to get ahold of and has shown little to no interest in helping us or resolving any of the issues. I even waited a couple of days past when they supposedly were going to get back with me, so they could not say that I did not wait for a resolution or that they tried to work with me. But of course I have not heard back from them and probably never will. There are so many other companies out there. Just choose somebody else and don't risk getting screwed by a company who clearly does not care for their customers. read more

Best Move Ever! John, Kenny and Braden were amazing! We moved half our home items into temporary housing and half into storage. At age 67, we have moved on average every five years and most were company moves to other states. Britani with Tri-Star was wonderful in coordinating our move. And, the above movers did the BEST job we have ever experienced in protecting our property during the move. The truck and equipment are also First Class! My Mother recently passed away and we needed to move her furniture to three different locations. We contacted Tri Star Moving and from start to finish they were wonderful to work with. The first contact was Mary Emily who set up the move the three stop move with ease. Mary Emily was professional but very personable. Next Eric called to ensure everything was set up for move day. He also was through and made sure all needed supplies were in the truck. Move day, three wonderful movers showed up, Anthony, Kerry and Josh. They could not have been nicer and quickly, but carefully moved the furniture and staged it properly for three deliveries. Originally, it was estimated the move would take 9 hours, but it took half the time. It is not often you find this exemplary level of customer service at any company. They are professional, kind and proficient. The entire Tri Star moving team exceeded our expectations from start to finish. My husband and I would highly recommend Tri Star Moving.
