I think I learned my lesson about why you never deal with "authorized resellers" when dealing with cell phone companies, and should only deal with corporate-owned stores. I went to the AT&T retail store in Olney, Maryland, operated by Portables Wireless Centers, with the intention of buying a screen protector for a friend's Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge phone. We worked with an employee named Dan, in locating and installing an Otterbox tempered glass screen protector. I have bought similar screen protectors for various phones in the past, though not from this particular retailer prior to today. The original visit went relatively painlessly, though Dan made quite a few unprofessional and snarky remarks during the process, as if our being there was bothersome to him. We purchased the screen protector, and then Dan installed it on the phone for us. Thank you, transaction complete, see ya later. About an hour or so later, we discovered that a piece of dust, lint, or some other kind of debris had been trapped under the screen protector near the edge during installation, and none of us had noticed. A piece of debris was unacceptable, as it blocked the view of part of the screen, and looked bad. So we went back to the store to get it rectified. The same employees were still there, and Dan clearly had already decided that it was our fault the moment that we walked in. The first thing that he did was blame my friend for putting the phone in her pocket after the protector was installed because it needed 24 hours to cure (no one told us that on our first visit). However, he did offer to change the screen protector. Reasonable enough. He changed the protector, and I passed the phone to my friend to check for debris. Unfortunately, my friend found new debris. I brought it to Dan's attention, and this time, unlike before, he first cleaned the screen with a spray before reapplying the second protector. Passed it to my friend again, and she once again found a piece of debris trapped under the protector. So Dan tried a third screen protector, with which he got more debris trapped underneath. When we noticed the debris this time, Dan started to complain to us that he didn't have a "white room" (cleanroom) and that it's technically not their job to install screen protectors, and also told the other employee working that he was "supposed to be in Ellicott City by now" and that it was possible that the store would have to absorb the cost of the other protectors. After he finished this installation, he left the store, and told us that if it was not right this time, to fix it ourselves or come back on Wednesday, leaving us with the other employee. The other employee, at this point in time, was sitting down in a chair on the salesfloor, with a headset in one ear, having a non-business-related video chat with a third party, speaking disparagingly about us to this person in our presence, even pointing the front camera toward my friend at one point. How unprofessional. I passed the completed product to my friend again, and she found more debris. At this point, I was convinced that these salespeople were incompetent, and I went about removing the remaining debris myself, in the store, with the tools provided in the package, getting my friend's approval each time. When I finally had removed all of the debris myself, I passed it to my friend, and she discovered something else, that we initially believed to be additional debris. I used the tools to attempt to remove it, and realized that this wasn't additional debris: it was a manufacturing defect in the glass. I turned to the employee, and asked him, "Come look at this. Does this look like dust or a defect?" He refused to look at the screen protector. I was getting tired of all of this by now, and asked for a refund on the screen protector, i.e. I'm done, because this is clearly a losing proposition. Not only did the second salesperson refuse to refund me, but he also told me how much money the store was losing on us, and started saying, "Not only as an employee, but as a person," in responding, and referring us back to the other employee who had walked out of the store earlier. This isn't a personal thing. It's business. I expect a certain level of service, and that includes installing a screen protector without dust, dirt, or debris under it. I get store installation in order to get this professional level of service. If I wanted junk under my screen protector and an overall amateur appearance, I'd install it myself at home. Likewise, I could have paid a lot less for the same screen protector on Amazon, but I bought it from them because of the professional installation service that is typically provided. So in the end, I am out $42 for an unusable screen protector, and having to evaluate my options regarding how I'm going to rectify this. I hope that this $42 item was worth their losing a customer, because I'm certainly never going back there again. read more

What a difference in this experience and with my previous experience purchasing a phone from this store! If you ever go to this particular store for a new phone you HAVE to ask for STEPHEN Luckey. By far the most knowledgeable and helpful assistant there. He literally spent over an hour with my husband and I going over features of the new phones we purchased, transferring all the data and even syncing up my phone to my car's Bluetooth which I never would have been able to figure out. He listened to our concerns and made suitable adjustments to our specific needs. I can't say enough about how helpful and professional he was. I dreaded going in there but was totally pleased with the outcome. If you ever need a new phone or just have questions, ask for him!! read more

Never again. Went to the store in the morning of 9/6/2018 with a frozen, 1 week old iphone 8. Instead of trying to help, the representative took one look at the phone, told me it was badly damaged and had water damage so he couldn't do anything. I peeled the scratched plastic screen cover to show him a perfect screen...he still insisted the phone was damaged and he couldn't do anything for me. He recommended going to the apple store. I should have done that in the first place! They helped me reset the phone and surprisingly (not) confirmed that the phone did not have any visible sign of damage or water damage. This store has made an about face and turned into an excellent store! Daniel, the store manager, was a great help! He was knowledgable and wanted to help you. He did not try to sugar coat things or make it seem one way or another! He is a straight shooter! I cannot say how easy the whole process was and how easy the transaction was as well. I recommend this store! It has changed managers hands and Daniel is an excellent representative of AT&T and how they do business. He is willing to help and to listen. Would never go back there again. Bought new iphone to replace my old phone and the guy there (don't remember his name, but maybe was the manager) was very enthusiastic to help me, but in the end he reassigned my phone number that I had for years and I couldn't get it back my original number, not to mention that he also gave me a new LG Pad and signed me up for a contract that I didn't approve and ended having to pay for it because I was in a contract. It was hectic and messy in the store and because he was multitasking so much, I was not able to keep up with what he was doing until the end. All in all very bad experience and would not go back there again. read more

STAY AWAY!! I went to this store to get a new sim card for a phone I had purchased else where. The woman who helped me was not helpful. I asked for a new sim card and she pulled my phones factory screen protector off...not what I asked for. Then upon examining my phone (which I didn't ask her to do) she couldn't find the sim card port. Once I showed her were it was and told her you need to use a key to open it, she pulled her dirty earring out and started to use that to open it. I nearly screamed to stop the disgusting action. She then couldn't figure out what sim card I needed. Despite the fact that I had told her 3 times. Then she tried to activate the wrong card. The next day I found out, from calling AT&T that she had not activated the mobile data on the card. This place is a joke, even the AT&T people told me that. The business I work for experienced a service interruption due to a sim card issue. I live in Olney and so I went to this store because it was the closest one. The store opens at 10 on Saturdays. I arrived at 10:03 and there were two men waiting outside.The employee or owner (Not sure) arrived at quarter after. The two men ahead of me said I could go ahead of them, but this worker really didn't want to honor that. He took his good sweet time and told me I needed to relax. I was on my personal cell phone talking to my boss trying to explain to him what was going on at the store. We're a courier service and service interruptions in our business are a big deal. We could have stat blood which could be a life or death situation for our clients. DON"T TELL ME TO RELAX! Anyway, long story short, "Mr. Late for work" poked at the phone for a minute and then told me to go to the Rockville store because the phone needed to be worked on. I went to Rockville (losing another 45 minutes of service with our company) and the guy in the Rockville store had the phone fixed almost instantly. My girlfriend and I came in to get her phone fixed or see what options were available to save money since she was the on NEXT plan. We walked in and were greeted immediately then we waited for about 5 minutes and was then asked what we needed help with. Another 5 minutes later we needed more information on the topic and he was on the phone with a customer and then another customer who was in front of us. But we were left hanging and he didn't seem to put in the effort that peter gave us. He was very helpful and gave us quite the laugh. PLEASE USE A CORPORATE OWNED STORE AND NOT A 3RD PARTY AGENT LIKE THIS. They work under different ethics, business practices and etiquette. I dealt with Vinod "Vick" Gupta, the co-owner and manager of this store (Rishon, LLC; formed 04/25/2011). He was arrogant, mean, pompous, and smelled like an ashtray. Sell, sell, sell. That's their motto. NO customer service. Sell it and move on. That's their motto. Here is my story via e-mails that were never responded to by "Vick"... 10/06/2015 (no response from Vick/Vinod) VICK. Please respond ASAP. One of your employees (as you know) sold a phone to a family member of mine on my account without any authorization from me, the only authorized person to make transactions on this account. I've been by your store and we've talked on the phone. You always seem to have an excuse and no answer. I've been on the phone with ATT for days. BOTTOM LINE. Your store sold a phone to my daughter and billed it to my account on a payment plan without my permission on 01/19/15. Per ATT it was your store and the salespersons name (female) was something like "poscampi". YOU or ATT owes me $749.99. I am not letting this go, so please respond. I will take this to the top of your organization. You can handle this matter as you see fit. 10/20/2015 (no response from Vick/Vinod) Dear Vick, This email serves as a follow up to our meeting today, October 20, 2015 at approximately 1:30pm at your retail outlet. I have saved and printed all of our correspondence and none of the emails that I have sent to you have been harassing or threatening in any way. I have simply wanted a response from you and you failed to respond when I have written to you. Your account executive/colleague whom we spoke to prior to your arrival today (at your retail outlet) agreed that there was a huge error made by YOUR employee, who should never have sold a phone to someone who was not an authorized user on my account. As the owner of the store, you must take responsibility for your employee's error. Her being fired is not helpful to me, as I am still out $749.99. I am willing to negotiate with you, as I am a reasonable man, however $100-$150 is unacceptable. I am willing to put this to rest if you will reimburse me $500 for the phone. I feel as though this is more than fair since your employee (whom YOU are responsible for) sold a phone to someone who had NO authorization to make this purchase on my account. I have read AT&T's policies regarding this matter and you/your employee are at fault. You might consider paying me what is owed to me and then asking the employee who made this grievous error to pay you back. Regardless, I was NOT at fault in this matter and I should be reimbursed. I sincerely hope you will do the right thing and we can put this to rest. I will be calling you on Monday, October 26th, at 11:30am, per your request, to settle this matter. So my experience was better at this store than the one in Gaithersburg which I highly don't recommend and it's there. Nate took care of me he seems a little unsure so I needed more convincing before I got my 11. I was with my friend and we both ended up upgrading cause her phone was damaged in a very unfortunate accident. Now,after Nate got busy James the manager there took care of me. And I will admit he does seem anxious but after that he was friendly,patient and willing. I wasn't too crazy about adding another line but I can understand it's some of the procedures to activating a new phone. Either way he also took care of my friends phone which I truly appreciated cause she couldn't communicate with anyone. So it was a positive day. I was happy and I wanted to shake his hand but due to the pandemic for obvious reasons I couldn't and waved him in a friendly goodbye. I recommend this store a better turnout and worth the trip compared to the Gaithersburg location by 538 N Frederick Ave that place is a mess and full of complaints. I had a guy there basically confront me. And a girl with a snarky attitude. I wasn't trying to get in trouble for some stupid people so I left and put a complaint on them and corporate and their managers. But if that didn't do it other people will surely give them hell for their lack of respect and professionalism. This store I recommend I guess management must have changed because the names mentioned don't match the new ones I saw at the store. I am glad. This is the WORST place I have ever dealt with. If you like your time and money please I implore you DO NOT work with AT&T or this store at all! The biggest nightmare I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Nobody knows what he/she is doing, mistakes so many mistakes that my account was flagged for fraud and suspended. I walked out with one phone after 4 hours that wasn't even set up correctly and didn't work. I had to call in and they would tell me go to the store, when I go to the store they tell me you have to call in. Hidden fees are ridiculous, I paid $260 originally and they tried to refund me $7. I have tried to cancel the deal a day after we started it, it is now over a week I have spent over 15 hrs with no progress at all. I again have to visit the store to unsuspend the account because they didn't add notes that I returned the phone. Some things are not worth the savings and this is definitely one of them. read more

I was very pleased with the service provided by sales representative Stephen on August 17, 2017, when I visited the store for a SIM card. i live overseas and prefer to buy a local number when I'm in the states and AT&T has that option. Stephen was professional and knowledgeable and very importantly to me also friendly without being fawning and overly familiar which i find too often in sales people. If I could do negative stars, it's be a -4. I bought a nokia 1520 on line about 6 months ago. Love the phone! But, it was having over heating issues. So, I had to send it in for repair. It took quite a while for them to fix it, so I went to the ATT store in Rockville since this on was closed for remodel, to get a cheap replacement phone in the meantime. They set me up with a nokia 520. It was fine, but I wanted something nicer, so I ordered something online. It took a different size sim that the 520. They replaced my sim happily no charge. My 1520 came in working after 4 weeks, and since this Olney store was opened again, I went there to get another nano sim to fit it, and to buy a 1020 for a Christmas gift. I was greeted nicely, but when I said I needed a new sim for the 1520, I was told it would be 25.00. I said I could go to the Rockville store who would do it for free and was told by the manager "that's because they're corporate. We have to pay for them! We are an independent store!" I got hot under the collar and walked out. A smart manager/ sales person would have dug a little bit and looked for a way to help a potential new customer rather than just defending their steep price. Maybe an "I understand your frustration sir, maybe there's something we could do to come to a fair resolution" Just that would have have brought up the fact that I was indeed there to buy another phone as well. So, Went to Rockville, got my new sim no problem, and spent hundreds of dollars on a new phone. What a freak show. ATT should really retrain these independent idiots on sales and customer service. read more

Can't say enough good things about this store's new management and décor overhaul. Dan (manager) and Isabel were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, personable and patient. To the nth degree they know their stuff, and explain it clearly, setting your options out for you with no pressure to choose one or the other. My old phone was completely dead, unable to even start, and yet they succeeded in saving and transferring my photos and songs onto my new phone (upgraded from a Galaxy 4 to a 7!) Also showed me how to save about $30 a month on my account. They care, they take the time, and they don't make you feel dumb for your questions and lack of technical knowledge. If you have any doubts about what true customer service should be, be reassured: they're the real deal. Highly recommended. read more

Negative rating if I could. Avoid this store!! If you must go for convenience etc., avoid dealing with Rishan. We observed him belittling and humiliating a customer for absolutely no reason or provocation. We were stunned. The only other salesperson there watched in horror along with the other customers. Finally a male customer took control and told Rishan to calm down, but this was not heeded by Rishan who kept up his verbal assault. The receiver of this barrage calmly took Rishan's business card which set Rishan off on an even more vicerol attack. The customer left calmly, neither igniting nor engaging Rishan. I hope this customer complains and Rishan is held accountable for his actions. read more

I would do a negative rating if possible. Rashid at this store was the rudest person ever. We witnessed him berating another customer. The customer did nothing to either instigate or prolong his verbal attack, which went on for several minutes until another (more brave!) customer interceded and got in Rashid's space to get him to stop. The attacked customer was great ... she simply took Rashid's business card and walked out. Rashid continued his attack long after the customer left. We then left, feeling ill, and vow never to return. You should find another AT&T store; there are so many from which to choose. read more

STAY AWAY!!! This owner/operator appears very nice as if he is trying to get the best deal for you---HE LIES! We ordered 4 iPhone 6 in October. When we received our new phones he suggested that we turn our old phones to AT&T, through him, and we would probably receive the equivalent of the price of one of the phones. He said he would contact us when the $ came in from AT&T. We waited & waited finally after we went to the store 3 times over the next 2 months, he wrote us a check and said that it was the amount he received from Godzilla (he had never mentioned Godzilla before and clearly had not sent the phones to AT&T as he previously stated). We asked to see the paperwork to prove that this was the amt and he was unable to do so. He also said they had returned one of the phones (iPhone5S) because it was damaged. We asked for that phone back and he gave us an iPhone 5, obviously not ours because it wasn't the same model. This is not the way a business should be run!! I wouldn't trust this man, he is untruthful and untrustworthy!! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S5 in December from this location. Despite having a supposedly superior battery compared to my 1st Gen Motor X, my S6 battery needed recharging 1/2 way through the day. I didn't think much about it until my phone started randomly turning off and requiring a soft reset to turn back on. I took my phone into a different AT&T store (Chinatown, DC) which is a legit AT&T store, not just an authorized retailer, and has a device support center. They did a factory reset thinking an app was the a source of the problem. At some point in the conversation I told them I purchased the phone from the Olney location. And the vail was lifted. The Device Support Center technician specifically advised me not to return to this store. He told me horror stories from other customers who purchased "new" phones from this location that were 2-3 years old! That the employees do not answer phone calls from corporate or other AT&T stores. In light of this recommendation I don't believe my phone was just a dud, I believe I was intentionally sold a phone that would not meet AT&T or Samsung standards. I will never return to this location. read more
