Long story short, I'm on call & my phone decided to crap out. Clayton at ATT was a lifesaver today helping me find a solution. Went above and beyond, really. When he said he hadn't been working with the store for more than a few months, I was really surprised because he has the people skills and work knowledge down! Note to corporate or management: I'm leaving a 5 star review due to the excellent service of Clayton (which yes - that means he probably had great training so compliment to you guys too!). Can attest to other reviews touching on the longer wait times & being understaffed comparatively to the sea of people in there seeking service. I know the world we live in right now seems hard to find people wanting to work, but hopefully through good incentives you all can manage to get more people on board so the current wonderful people there don't get burnt out! read more

Never use AT&T or go into this store. It will take 2+ hours just to talk with someone and they don't have any sense of urgency. It's even worse trying to call customer service on the phone. On top of it, they charge a ridiculous fee for internet $300+ per month for average speed. If you want a stressful experience with no customer service get AT&T. read more

If you're thinking about getting AT&T internet, don't. Just get Starlink and save yourself months of stress and hours of your life you'll never get back. Every single person I interacted with at AT&T, both in-store and over the phone, either lied outright or gave me deliberately misleading information. I live in a rural area and was told by an employee at the Joplin location that their internet would work where I live. I specifically asked if I could cancel without fees if it didn't, and he assured me I could. That was a lie. The internet was unusably slow, not "a little slow," but so bad that nothing would load. When I tried to cancel, I was tossed back and forth between the store and customer service like it was a game. Customer service was shockingly rude and told me I'd owe hundreds of dollars in cancellation fees. When I told them the store had promised otherwise, they said that we would still have to pay. I asked, "Do they honor what their store representatives say?" and I was told, "No." They went on to tell me, "That I could call a lawyer if I wanted." I told them not to cancel my service and I would go to the store to find out what to do. The store employees pretended to be helpful but kept giving me incorrect customer service phone numbers just to get me out of the door. I eventually had to use Reddit, yes, Reddit, to find the actual phone numbers to reach anyone competent. A month later, AT&T charged me hundreds of dollars. When I called to find out why, they had cancelled my service without my permission. They said too much time had passed for them to fix it. After more than ten hours on the phone (mostly on hold), they finally admitted their mistake and agreed to refund me. They gave me another number to call, but every time I call, I am placed on hold for one to two hours, then the line goes dead. It's astonishing that a company can operate with this level of dishonesty, rudeness, and total lack of accountability and still stay in business. AT&T feels less like a telecom company and more like a corporate scam operation hiding behind a well-known brand name. I switched to Starlink, and it's been perfect. Fast, reliable, transparent, everything AT&T isn't. Save yourself the anger and the hours of wasted time. Stay far, far away from AT&T. read more

I purchased new iPhones at this corporate store on Rangeline and Seventh for my in-laws and switched them from Verizon to the AT&T Family Plan, saving a lot of money and upgrading from 6's to 13's. The process was painless thanks to Demetrius, our sales associate. In a business full of hucksters it was refreshing to be greeted by this knowledgeable young man man who helped me select a new plan and set me up with new phones. Demetrius was patient and helpful throughout the process. I also met Brady, the store manager, who spent considerable amount of time helping retrieve some lost photos. During this exercise I learned there is a big difference between AT&T's corporate stores and those that are privately owned, which are much less professional particularly in this tight job market where they struggle finding qualified employees. This place may as well be a carnival the way you have to hold onto your money at every turn. My family came in to upgrade their phones and all went fine, besides absurd wait times but that's to be expected. Anyway then the nice lady tells us my dad could also get an Apple Watch and iPad for a dollar each since we are upgrading. I mean why not right? Well as we discovered a week later they are only a dollar assuming you want to add a data plan. Of course Att went ahead and had those set up without clearly telling us. So now I am returning the watch and iPad after paying for a month of data on both that wasn't used. Then the final smack in the face is a $55 dollars in restocking fees for each item. So basically we payed for a month of data on two devices and got charged over $100 to return them. Thanks for nothing Att legit thanks for nothing. For the love of anything could yall figure out how to make your offers understandable to an everyday person. Just know if I could put zero I would for you guys praying on my parents who don't know technology at all. So thanks for scamming us out of about $200 right before Christmas that was really cash money of y'all! read more

I have been lied to by sales people from both Joplin stores. First, they gave me a bad phone. It never worked so you'd think I could just take it in and they'd replace it. NO, it took 3 trips before someone told me to take it to Best Buy cause it was under warranty. So I paid for a new phone and got a repaired one. Second, I went in to get a phone for my granddaughter. We picked one and everything was set, until I got the bill. The bill was for a phone with more storage(which cost more a month) plus they had added a bunch of stuff (that raised the bill a lot) on the phone. Otherwise they lied. Third, I went to get my other granddaughter a phone and asked point blank for a certain phone with the basic plan and was assured that's what I got. No surprise when the bill came and I was charged for a different phone and plan. Lied to again. Fourth, I gave my granddaughter my high dollar iphone and I got a cheap android. They couldn't even transfer data from my iphone to an android. Lost everything off of the iphone. These people tell you what ever you want to hear and then do whatever gets them a bigger paycheck. When these phones are paid for I'm out. I even called and complained about the phones and plans. They could change the plans but I was stuck with the phones. No wonder Straight Talk is getting so big. read more

I have just left the ATT store in Joplin. I was blessed to get a young man named Clayton who was so very helpful and got my account straightened out in less than 30 minutes. I have been trying to get this done over the phone through customer service for over a month and all I could get done was put on hold and people who could not understand me any better than I Could understand them. The store 13127 San Pedro in San Antonio, Texas is awful!!!!! They wouldn't answer their phone for 4 hours! We ended up going there to speak to someone. The manager, Keith, told us he was doing paperwork in the in the back. There were 5 customers total and plenty of people to answer the phone. The service people just hung out in their back room until someone walked in. I ended up having to call their customer service line. They indicated that there was no reason for them not to answer. A customer representative walking by said that they wanted to get people to just come in instead of calling. We can do business with Sprint or Verizon in the future. read more

I hate see all of the negative reviews. Yes, they make their living by selling. Some people do better than others when it comes to customer service. This doesn't necessarily reflect the company, more the person (employee). I for one have always had a great experience with the AT&T store in Joplin. Very helpful, even if you may have a problem with your phone or just have questions. I would think the same experience could be found at any new or used car lot, true? If you're not there to buy, then you're wasting their time, true? I only gave it a 4-star, simply because, the last time I was in there, the little girl that waited on my leaned on the display and yawned most of the time while I was inquiring about some new phones (comparing). I totally rated the employee, not the employers, however, the employer should not be employing this person. I switched to AT&T simply because of the continued rude customer service at their competition across the street. I was with that company, as a customer, for 23 years and said, "that's enough". What an appalling place. I went in with questions about establishing a 12 line commercial account, and was met by a guy at the front door with an ipad who literally put me on hold. He took my name, and said the next available representative would help me. My estimated wait time would be 20-30 minutes. Seriously! As if AT&T telephone customer service were not bad enough, I got put on hold indefinitely IN A STORE. I get that sometimes places are busy, but that was the height of inconsideration. And when I asked what time I should come back so I wouldn't have to wait 20-30 minutes, the ipad dork (who wasn't helping anyone by the way) refused to tell me when the slower times were. Look guys, I've been in retail a long, long time. First, I know that you DO have down time and your dork was lying to me. But if he wasn't, and you're really so busy that people have to wait 20 minutes ALL of the time, then you need to hire more staff. Now wasn't that simple! If you're going to an AT&T store, save yourself some time, drive a few miles down the road to Neosho, MO, and get waited on by polite, knowledgeable people who are actually glad you're there. I certainly found it worth the drive. (By the way, I got tired of waiting, and walked next door to U. S. Cellular. That's also an option.) read more
