Switched from version to Astound and the WiFi was a night & day difference they're WiFi won't let you down especially on gaming

I have a note on my door " no soliciting " however Richard Heeke littered on my property his card and other trash he threw into my front door because it (the door) was open letting air in. STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! Apparently, Astound Broadband Powered by Grande is hurting for so much money that they charge for everything. Need a technician because your service has gone out 7 times over 30 days, we can send a technician but it'll cost you $75+ (or you can just reboot your system and hope it doesn't happen again). Have auto pay set up? Did it decline? That's a $30 charge. Apparently, Astound considers a debit card payment to be the exact same as paying with a check - when it's on auto pay. No other company charges you $30 for an auto pay payment denying. STAY AWAY from this money-hungry organization. They may offer 1.5GBps but it's not worth it if it doesn't work or they continue to charge you for every little bit they can. STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! I have since moved to their competitor Spectrum and I'm never looking back. read more

This was a reliable service provider before it sold out to Astound (or whatever it did) Service deteriorated and then collapsed after rain storm. The telephones are non -functioning due to a massive rebellion by customer/victims-same for theiir internet "automated" help sites. They Hide their e-mail addresses. . I have Bundled services to include internet, telephone and television= a reasonable choice in the past but now a total disaster as athe intermittent outages of the proviider subject me to complete isolation. decent ISP at market rate but THEY WILL nickel and dime you. if your service goes out they charge you to come fix it. they offer max complementary for a year, but what they don't tell you is even if you don't opt into the service you won't get any notice other than a small line item on your bill the month before you are gonna get charged for it. make Sure to check your bill meticulously!! read more

Our internet went out today sometime between 4:00pm and 7:00pm while we were away from home. I immediately called Astound and also Chatted with the Technical Support. I'm SHOCKED to say the least that they acknowledge there is an issue but can't send a Technician until Monday 8:00-10:00am. It's Saturday night and as much as we pay we should receive much better service than this! Our bill over the last 12 months has increased 5 times and obviously the service has declined. We had GRANDE prior to Astound and had minimal issues. If we did have an issue it was fixed within just a few hours. With the world we live in now, everything requires the internet so we are left without security systems, TV etc... I would NEVER recommend Astound to anyone at this point and will immediately start looking for alternatives in our area. read more

Since the transition to Astound the customer service and pricing are terrible. Bill has gone up 50% and service down. They are not the same company as they are now private equity. I plan on transitioning to Spectrum soon as at least they have to answer to shareholders. If you try and tell me they are the same company I will kindly redirect you below. I have been paying for 600 mbps for months. As you can see in pic, Grande speed test shows that they are not even close (59.2 mbps). I have called many times, restarted router, rented new router (from grande), and even had a technician come to my house. Nothing has changed. I would not recommend. read more

Before Astound took over my 1 GB of speed that we pay for was pretty good. Meaning, we would get anywhere from 700 - 800 mbps, and even 900 on some days of speed. Since Astound took over I'm lucky to get 400 mbps! read more

Never got my internet installed they tried to send me a bill of $100 bucks of 600 mbps and technician never showed up at house

I have been a customer for nearly four years. At first it was ok. Reasonable rates, but like so many others on here the rates increased. In four years my rate has doubled. I increased my speed to 600 mbs cause I work from home now. At first seemed a bit faster then it started slowing down. I did speed test never got to 600. Even when I connected by wire. I expect drop off for wireless but this is crazy. I went to a computer guru from work bought I super fast modem router. Never broke 200 but the device did at the office. Over the past year it got worse. There will be days of no service. Call to complain they want to send out a technician at my cost. Told it was my modem which coincided with a reported outage. Took the modem to the office computer guy. The modem worked fine at the office. Got home plugged it in then a couple of hours later internet came back on. They suck spectrum has a deal 125 channels and 400mbs for 89$. Why have 600 mbs if you never get there. Oh and my grande only has a web mail which you can't use with outlook. They suck read more

Astound/Grande quoted one cost as Internet service and equipment plus taxes and fees (i.e., an all-in rate) and then billed a higher rate upon service actually starting. The lady (Charlene) with whom I spoke in a failed attempt to get Astound/Grande to honor the originally-quoted rate was exceptionally unprofessional by talking over me multiple times and repeatedly tried to get me to reduce the service/equipment utilized as the only way to get our bill down to our originally-quoted price. Charlene acknowledged that this is not the first time she has encountered this situation where Astound/Grande lied to a customer - she even claimed she planned to seek a new employer during our conversation... - but - after I sat on hold for 35 minutes during which time Charlene supposedly spoke with a supervisor - there was no meaningful attempt made to honor the originally-quoted rate. Very much upset that Grande would not give me an open port through the router so I could access my equipment at home when I'm off property such as Cameras, thermostat, sprinkler timer etc. I had no trouble with Spectrum modem so I'll be going back to spectrum. the faster speed is just a sale gimmick my computers work no noticeable faster speed. It had some down times in the past but it is because i was renting their router, once i was able to switch to a better router i havent had any problems since. Will always go with them. I have Dish but I had to add Grande. So far they have been really good to me. If I have a problem I call in and normally they have answered right away. I have had good luck with them so far. I had AT&T and I live right next door to the building but if something went wrong with computer, it took forever to get it worked on. The price kept getting higher. Horrible horrible horrible customer service. Talked with a manager Guillermo for over 30 minutes, who had no idea what my issue was. After wasting my time and thoroughly frustrating me, I asked for the number to the Corporate office and he refused to give me the information and told me they didn't have any info for corporate. After insisting on speaking with a different manager, Corporate's information was immediate disclosed! I just don't understand how so many people can work in the same office and for the same company and nobody is on the same page when it comes to delivering information. Update: still sucks. I ended up being forced to use Grande even though I begged and pleaded at the apt office. My service routinely drops between 9:30 and 11 p.m. and when I call to complain they assure me they see no problems in my connection. Weird that it happens almost every. day. But whatever. I'm not here for much longer. If you have any choice, stay away and go with practically any other service provider. So what almost everyone else is saying is true: Grande SUCKS. I just moved to Waco and my apartment complex told me I had to use Grande for services. Fine, whatev, I don't think that's very cool of them to restrict providers but it is what it is. I call Grande, make an appointment for Saturday afternoon between 3-5 p.m. Am unpacking stuff that morning and get a knock on the door around 10:30 a.m. It's the installation guy--he's ready to install my internet. Which would be cool except I literally just got here this morning and don't have the modem/router unpacked yet. I tell him this and remind him the appt is set for 3-5 p.m. He says "well I'll be pretty busy later." Ummm, okay? So I find the electronics, unpack and get it all ready for him. 3, 4, 5 p.m. comes and goes. No call, no nothing. I call Grande at like 8:50 that evening to let them know no one showed up at the appt time and to ask what the deal is. The guy on the phone tells me they have until 9 p.m. to let me know if they're still coming or not? I would assume someone would have decided by 8:30 at least if they could make it by 9 but whatev. Of course, no one showed up in the next 10 minutes and guess what else? I haven't seen hide nor hair of any Grande employee/contractor since. Not a phone call, not an email, nothing. Guess they don't need paying customers after all. I would give them zero stars if I could. I'm just going to skip services for now because there's no way I'd give even a penny of my hard-earned money to such a crappy company. Grande? More like pinche. read more

Oh man, where do I start. My first sign that this was going to be an awful experience was when I was on hold for 25 minutes just to sign up for new service. I should have went running the opposite direction. Took a 1.5 weeks to get someone out to set up service. Really? I thought signing up and getting service was supposed to be the easy part. Okay, now that I have service...the supposed 300 mbps internet speed is more like 100 mbps with a wired Ethernet connection. I understand you will never get the full speed you pay for, but there needs to be some oversight on these false claims. Now that I have my first bill, there was nearly $40 in surcharges. Haha. Horrible customer service! Poor communication. Tech came out because my service was really slow. When he gets here it's miraculously perfect. The moment he left, my connection was extremely slow again. Due to "not finding any errors", I will be billed $20 but my Internet is still extremely slow. Good little scam they have going for them.....boost the connection speed somehow when they are there doing their tests but the moment they leave it's back to being extremely slow. I read through these reviews and try and decipher what the real issue is. It is not the actual service, it works great. I am a Technology professional and I can say with experience the internet service is robust, reliable and well priced. I also have had a Business circuit from Spectrum and if you want to really be miserable make the switch. You will love Grande then, I promise you. Most of the legitimate complaints are related to a bad installing schedule. I was lucky from what I read. I guess my advise would be, be open to there scheduling process, over communicate with them on the schedule and cross your fingers. On the reviews describing slow internet in apartments. It may very well be the cabling in the apartments (or at your home). When that is the case they can bring a great circuit to the building and have signal loss at it get routed onto the property cabling to your unit. As frustrating as that is Grande will not be too successful correcting until the cabling is replaced or repaired. On a positive note if you do in fact get Grande you will benefit from a solid reliable connection. My two cents read more

Update 2 years later and the price is now 189 a month for basic cable internet and phone!! Outrageous 166.00 for cable, internet and phone is outrageous- We have been customers with Grande for 15 years-They continue to jack the prices up- The customer service at the Waco location was terrible- The tech guy could not get out to replace the modem for three days. So I took the modem to the store on Imperial- the lady was down right rude and made it obvious she had better things to do than exchange my modem- I am researching other options and believe it's time to change providers- read more

I've about had it with this company. We moved here Saturday and was suppose to have a technician Saturday between 5-7pm. They show up 5 apparently, when my movers were outside and left before I got there at 5:10. They spoke with my movers. The movers told them we were getting our keys, one street over.. When we got to the house and heard they came and went we lost it. There was no phone call, just a call from Grande to reschedule at our convenience. Are you kidding? My husband and I moved here because of job relocation. He needed that Internet in order to prepare himself for work Monday morning. After talking to their customer service for over an hour, there was no solution except the guy can come out Monday morning between 8-12. Well, we're already mad at this point. Now it's Monday morning and I just received my second "call and reschedule at your earliest convenience." Grande called to confirm my appointment and that the technician would be here between 9:30 and 10:30. I confirmed. I am here. I haven't showered, I haven't gone outside, I am patiently waiting because I know my husband needs Internet. At about 10:15 I received a call and reschedule. I call customer service again and am like - what are you talking about? I AM HERE. I AM HOME. I AM WAITING FOR YALL AGAIN. This time the lady notifies the dispatcher, says oh yah he was there 5 minutes ago, says that's all she can do and asks if she can help me with anything else???? I'm about to lose my mind. Terrible customer service. We noticed our bill increase by 1/3rd and called to inquire why. You will not keep long-time customers when you continue increasing their bill, yet offer low introductory rates to new customers. My husband let the customer service rep know we would be looking for a new internet provider because of the increase and they just told him, "I'm sorry you feel that way". When we called to set up our account with Grande we spoke with a young lady named Paige. She is great! Answered all our questions and concerns intelligently, professionally and with a sense of humor. When we said thank you she said your welcome not "no problem". We then received a hand written note from her thanking us for our business. That just is not done anymore. As with most ISP, Cable providers, telephone companies, etc... these days, they are all in it to screw their loyal customers out of their hard-earned cash, while providing mediocre services. I have been a loyal Grande customer for many years, but not without problems including outages, resets and continuous "billing" problems that never seem to be resolved fully! Waiting to speak to an actual representative for over 45 minutes on average, is not my idea of good customer service. Nor is having to negotiate price increases every three months (or less)! I have a "bundle deal" (if you'd like to call it that) for telephone, Cable and internet (300mbps) and am absolutely sick of the continuous "price gouging" by this company (Bills have run over $230-266)! This is not the way to treat existing customers, especially retiree's on a fixed income! You also have to be pretty savvy tech-wise, as you WILL encounter problems very often (modem resets, TIVO connection problems, Box resets, connectivity issues, etc..., etc...)!! I have learned over the many years of having their services, how to fix things myself, rather than calling them and being put on hold for 30-45 minutes, I will never get over how their billing department can constantly raise prices on a supposedly "agreed upon" deal (sometimes negotiated the prior month)! When you have to constantly hear their catch phrase, "We're here for you!", all the time waiting "on-hold" just to talk to someone about a problem, I do not get a "warm and fuzzy" feeling! If you really want a laugh, look at their package deal pricing then look at your bill after you have signed up for the services! Pay close attention to the hundreds of $$$ worth of fees you are being charged! Some of which are: Network access fee, County Sales tax, State sales tax, City sales tax, Franchise fee, regulatory fee, Municipal PEG Access fee, State sales tax (again), City sales tax (again), Broadcast TV surcharge, Sports programming surcharge, Entertainment Networks surcharge, Subscriber line charge, Federal Excise tax, Federal Universal Service Fund, State sales tax (again), Texas Gross Receipts Assessment, State E911 Equalization Surcharge, State universal Service Fund, County 911 Fee, City sales tax (again) and Regulatory Recovery Fees!!!!!!! What a crock of total B/S!!! See how many shows that are listed over and over and rerun over and over, as well as all the shows you may actually want to watch that are unavailable without "special" package purchasing! Again, total B/S! I could go on and on with just my experiences with Grande, but that would read like a dissertation or a Science Fiction novel! Just remember when you get frustrated enough to want to jerk someone out of their office and throttle them that, "We're here for you!"!!!!!!!
