First. Clean the mold out of the showers. Or bleach the caulking. It wouldn't take long, but it would be a huge improvement. It was understaffed and that was obvious. We stopped on our cross country road trip, as heavy snow was expected. First - pool and spa are "permanently closed." Second - Our room was DISGUSTING. Looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in MONTHS. Dust on everything, bathroom dirty and the best part, a PILL found in the floor. Comfort of the room itself was a 1/10. Beds were hard as rocks. We could deal with that. The fan had an option for constant fan, it didn't work. we had the heat on and at 74°, but the room was freezing by 1 am. Our toddler had to get out of her pack n play and sleep in a separate bed with me just to warm up. By 9 am, the room was feeling better. Cleanliness was a 1/10. The edge of the tub was stained brown. There was dirt all over the place, especially under the table and in places staff could have easily gotten to, just chose to ignore. Comfort of the hotel as a whole was also a 1/10. When we checked in at 4, another woman was in there getting ready for a children's pool party. so where did the hotel put us? Right above the pool. Where we heard constant kids yelling until past 11:00 pm when it finally shut down. We have no problem with kids having fun. We have an 18 month old. But why put a family, with a toddler trying to sleep, above a loud area? Especially when there were only 3-4 other actual overnight cars in the parking lot. There we're more rooms available. Staff - 1/10. The night desk lady took longer to check us in because she was talking with her friend, the woman who was getting ready for the pool party. Then willingly held the friend's baby so the other lady could set up for the party. again, no problem with helping others, but you have a job, and the baby was a distraction. As far as her actual job, she wasn't doing it. She was just talking about life's drama with her friend, when she could have checked us in, then gone back to their story time. Also, every time we walked through the lobby to get to the elevator, she was standing in the hall by the restrooms on the outside area of where guests can sit, and had a cigarette in her hands. One time it was while she was holding her friend's baby. So that was putting guests' and a baby's safety at risk. One of the cleaning staff had his dog with him in the hall while cleaning this morning. We have dogs, I love dogs, but you don't agree with cleaning staff being allowed their dogs at a hotel. Especially where people who are potentially allergic could be affected by this. Finally, waited for awhile at the front desk to get a receipt of our stay this morning. I dialed the number on the phone like it said to get the front desk person to come to the front, but she ignored it. several times. We heard her in the office watching tv, or something on her phone. We even called out to her. She just ignored it. So, we finally left. 0/10 overall, do NOT recommend staying here. read more

Nice check in staff. I had made a reservation online and when we arrived we weren't sure if it was open. The parking lot was empty. It was open though as more travelers were starting to arrive. Being a Montana resident for over 20 years I know that many hotels in these smaller towns are struggling now due to the oil and coal workers leaving the areas. This is a nice hotel, quiet and clean. I would recommend it for a stop over in Glendive. read more

Sara at the front desk ruined our entire experience. We are from Astoria so we just had to stay here. After a family emergency delayed our trip one day, Sara refused to change our booking date. We tried everything we could to make it right, but she refused it all. Her rude and angered personality stopped us from ever staying there. read more

Pretty nice room. Mostly clean except for some stains in the shower. The bed was a bit too firm in my opinion. Good tv selection. The wifi was not easy to connect to (showed full bars, but devices said it was not connected). The breakfast was minimal, but the regular coffee was pretty good. Overall a pleasant stay. Edit: after I wrote this, I observed the man in charge of breakfast being rude to another guest who asked if it was possible to snag another cup of coffee for his wife. The man in charge snapped that "breakfast is closed" so the guest needs to "make coffee himself in his room". The other guest said he already used the coffee in his room and the man in charge shrugged his shoulders and muttered under his breath that the man should talk to housekeeping. I would not return here if people are treated this way. The situation could have been handled with more tact. read more

It was awful. Filthy! Cheetos smashes on the carpet for three day's, during our stay. The elevator was disgusting I didn't want to touch the buttons. Stainless steel polish is like three bucks and a little labor. The room was to be a non smoking room and it reeked. We tried to leave early and check out but we couldn't get our money back due to how we booked it and decided to just to stay. read more

The bathroom was really nice with a large tub shower. They allow dogs of all sizes. We will stay here again when we are heading to Glacier National Park from Minnesota. read more

Having stayed in Glendive once before at the Super 8 I decided to try a different property since there are several to choose from. The Astoria is moderately priced and is definitely competitive with the other properties in the area but something just didn't jive for me on my night's stay here. The rooms are nicely appointed with cultured marble desktop and bathroom countertop and come with a flat screen tv, frig and microwave. True to the mid-range price the glassware in the bath are plastic wrapped plastic glasses. The clerk warned me at check in not to try to turn on the tv by hitting anything on the tv so I tried the remote and tried and tried and tried and was about to give up on it when it finally worked on one last try. There are also lightblocking shades but they don't close very well which is an issue with the bright lights that illuminate the parking lot. Room doors make a great deal of noise which was also an issue as several of the people staying at the hotel left around 3am and I could hear every door on my end of the hotel shutting as people left. There were also little issues like super small waste baskets that were located in odd areas. Why the waste basket was not next to the desk I don't understand and the one in the bathroom was snugged up next to the toilet instead of under the vanity as I would expect. Larger waste baskets would also ensure that more things that are tossed in the basket stay in the basket instead of bouncing out onto the floor. The king bed was spacious but extremely firm and the pillows had great volume that did not compress when I put my head down on them. I opted to sleep without a pillow most of the night to avoid having a very sore neck in the morning. The hot breakfast consists of biscuits and gravy and make your own waffles along with lots of sugary cereal, juices, coffee and tea. If you are looking for low carb you won't find it here. I would not warn people off of the Astoria but if I find myself in the area again I would probably try another property in the area. read more

The hotel was apparently only a few years old however, it was obvious there was a shortage on staff. The same used bandage was on the floor the whole time we were there (4 days). The room was only cleaned once in 4 days. We had to hunt down the carts and cleaners to grab new towels and coffee. They were obviously understaffed and overwhelmed. Our refrigerator was broken and we were told maintenance was not there to help and would not be in until later the next morning. We had left over pizza and other perishables that had to be thrown away because of that. The front desk staffs attitude was very disappointing. They did not show one ounce of care! Shouldn't be charging half the price you are. We switched to this hotel because of the pool and hot tub. Hot tub didn't work, which nobody told us when we checked in, the pool water was uncomfortably cold, and a bandaid on the floor, and a piece of gum. There's also an exposed electrical outlet in the pool room. On top of that, our shower was covered in hair, and the bathroom fan looks like it hasn't been cleaned since this place was built. You will definitely be getting a review that fits. The only reason we didn't leave is because of the non refundable bullshit. I've stayed at 30 dollar a night hotels that were taken care of better. Astoria Hotel & Suites - Nasty - Hotels Near Me - Glendive, Montana

I was surprised to see so many bad reviews for this hotel. I felt like I was at a Hampton Inn (may be a converted Hampton - not sure of the history) but with a more family-owned personal touch. The family that owns the place was on site in the morning when we were checking out and they were friendly and funny. The only real downside I see with this place is that one in our party wanted a roll-away bed and couldn't get one. As she noted, it says one is available on the website but the guy when I made the reservation told me they didn't offer them and the check-in woman informed us it is always in use by a guest that stays regularly So my recommendation for improvement would be to get a second one to have on hand if the one is being used to regularly. It turned out to be a good thing for us as they offered us a suite for the same price and we then had two queen beds and a pull-out sofa! The room was clean and fully decked with linens and toiletries. The beds were SUPER COMFY. I don't know why people think they are "too firm" as I felt like a princess in a cloud. There are loads of pillows. Though if you like mushy pillows, bring your own. These are all big full pillows. Breakfast was loaded with carbs as one review noted, but it was plentiful and offered a huge variety. Oh, the handles on the hot dishes were a bit warm - may want to add some potholders for them as they heat up. They offered eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereals, juice, oatmeal. Not a lot for a GF girl like me but I had some eggs and juice. Eggs were wiped out and the owner brought them to our plates, once they were hot and ready, before putting the rest out on the bar. I liked the personal touch. I'd stay here again. If you are a frequent traveler in the area, you could take advantage of their stay a bunch, get a night free. Can't remember if it was 10 or 20 stays. It's definitely a comfy place to sleep in Glendive. read more

This is the poorest run hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying in. Housekeeping was a joke. We had family staying in three different rooms and on three occasions the rooms were never made up until someone complained. The coffeemaker had leftover coffee when we checked in. Worst of all, the guy at the desk did not give a rip. When we tried to talk to him, he turned away and refused to talk. The pool was not functioning properly. I'm not thrilled with this "new" hotel. Every time I call, it seems the hotel rules change. After attending a birthday party here, I too wanted my child to be able to swim and have a few friends swim for an hour, have cake, open presents, you know, the usual birthday fun so I called to ask today 03-15-17 and some man on the phone tells me it's hotel policy, even if I purchase a room, to only allow the hotel guests in the pool. No outsiders he said. Wow, I've never herd of such a terrible rule! And to think I was there for a birthday party not all that long ago. I will be going to the Holiday Inn a few buildings away for this short mid-day birthday party. They even offered to let me use their conference room for an hour to open presents. The kind front desk woman who answered my call even went out of her way to check the conference room schedule for me while I was on the phone to be sure it was available. Had a reservation but the front desk wouldn't honor it which was very inconvenient because I was travelling with my 9 month old baby. There weren't any other rooms available anywhere else, so we had to sleep in the car. The front desk guy didn't care about the fact that I had the reservation confirmation in my phone, he wouldn't even look at my phone. Very poor and unfeeling customer service. read more

The front desk told us there was no bedding available for the extra beds in our rooms. We asked for a pack n play or crib for our baby and we were told they didn't have one because it got stolen a few months ago. There was broken tile in the pool area. When we reached our final destination less than 10 hours after checking out of this hotel and realized we left a yeti tumbler in the refrigerator in one of the rooms we rented, we called and we were told "they throw everything left in rooms out." We are extremely disappointed with the customer service of this hotel and we will definitely not be back! read more

I this this hotel was pretty good. The breakfast was great. The waffles tasted good and there were mini yogurts which I though was cool. They also had butter and hot chocolate. We found a great price on the Astoria and booked it, but weren't sure what to expect since we weren't familiar with the brand. We were very pleasantly surprised! It was a beautiful, clean, well decorated hotel. The room was comfortable and very clean. The bed was fairly comfortable and the bedding was nice. We would definitely stay here again. read more

We wanted a biggish room for 3 of us. Hotels.com said it was a suite, the internet described it as such, but when we pulled in late and tired we discovered that suites were more than twice as much as we'd paid. So disappointed. That said, the room was new, the beds were great, it was quiet and service was competent. The hotel is right off Hwy 94. That is the only good feature. When we got in we were asked to sign a bill showing an outstanding balance-I had paid thru Priceline. Then we get to our room--it has dog hair all over floor and chair. I called and asked for housekeeping to come vacuum. I was told they were too busy that they would just move us--but she was too busy to bring me key. So I went down and got key and we went to our new 'clean' room. Fridge was gross but bed seemed ok and no dog hair. AC was loud when it turned on and off. The bed and pillows were the worst I've slept on in recent memory. I booked this reservation in early May. Booking.com says river views in the hotel description. I spoke with rude people at the property after the initial booking and two days before arrival to confirm our king suite was river facing to allow for that river view and to ask for early check in. Yep, I was told to both requests. Upon arrival, and waiting for an employee to come to the front desk, my husband and I were rudely told check in was at 3 and all rooms were dirty because they were full the night before without even bringing up the reservation. After urging on my part, the employee finally got on the computer only to tell me that they have no king suites facing the river, and some mumbo jumbo about none of the rooms actually having a view of the river. We decided to stay for the 3 nights because we wanted a pool and hot tub and fridge and microwave. Suddenly, we could be checked in, too, our room type was apparently magically cleaned. After entering our room there was a Cheeto on the living area floor and the framed print on the wall was literally hanging out of the frame. In the bathroom there was pee on the toilet seat and hair in the soap dish and the mirror frame was very beat up. The hot tub was cold every day of our stay, as was the pool. Breakfast was a different problem every morning. Many guests were upset one morning because the coffee machine was not working for regular coffee, another morning the orange juice machine was streaming orange looking water and there were no scrambled eggs at 8 am. Breakfast always ends at 9 am and tables were not wiped off. Elevators are dirty. The pillows on the bed were simply awful. The only positives to our stay was the close proximity to the Yellowstone River Inn restaurant where they had nice people working and good food and the various construction company workers staying at the hotel. After we had checked in I went back up front to ask for a receipt and the lady was rude and wouldn't talk to me until my boyfriend asked her for the receipt. Next, when we went to our room it smelled like dirty feet. Our room never got to a desired temperature because they have a temperature control in the rooms, I woke up sweating and miserable and ended up with a terrible nights rest. I don't even think they have the AC on in the hallways because they were so miserably hot to walk in. If it wasn't for having a pool we would not have stayed there and the pool wasn't even pleasant. Honestly, the worst service that we have ever had at a hotel. My husband, brother in law and sister in law came to town for Our grandma's funeral and were treated with an immense amount of disrespect. Our bad experience started when we first arrived and attempted to check in. No one was at the front desk desk and it took more that 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. After giving my name and letting them know that we had a reservation, we were accused of reserving incorrectly. We were told that that there was no chance the the rate that we were offered could be given to us by one of the employees. The manager came by a total of five times and let said employee known that it was okay. The employee refused to acknowledge the managers directions staying that he "did not know why the manager would approve it" and that "he would not honor it" he insisted that the rate we were given while reserving was unheard of and unacceptable. When my sister in law asked me what the problem was he rudely interrupted staying "this is not our problem nor fault. This is hers". Upon requesting for the manager again and receiving his approval for the rate, we were told that we were not allowed to eat breakfast in the hotel. Never have I ever been talked to in such a condescending way. We stayed a total of three nights and at no point did we receive any maid service that left us with a total of three towels for for four guests to last the entirely of our stay, garbage over flowing and beds unmade. We would normally not have thought twice about this part if it was not for the fact that our other brother, sister and mother in law all reserved separate rooms and receive the exact opposite maid service treatment. It is safe to say that this hotel has lost a total of 12 customers due to the way that we were treated here this week. read more
