I was able to take a single photo of the book I purchased only. Obviously, I prefer the other bookstore because they made me feel more welcome. The customer service in this one was ok as well but let's face it, I am an African American Woman, and this IS Palm Beach so was I surprised that I was watched like a hawk? Nah. I will say this though... if you can't find whatever book you are looking for here try the Classic Bookshop located further down the way. Respectfully Reviewed.

Raptis Rare Books specializes in rare, antique, and first edition books. As a young child, Matt Raptis had a deep love of history which led him into a future career of collecting and selling rare books. In 2016 Matt and Adrienne Raptis moved from Vermont to open their rare book business on Worth Avenue. In 2021 they moved to the gallery space they currently occupy on Worth Avenue next in Via Roma and in 2022, Raptis Rare Books purchased The Harcourt Bindery, the oldest and largest book bindery in the United States. The couple once purchased for $1 a signed first edition of "Catcher in the Rye" near author J.D. Salinger's home which they sold for $80,000. Other rare books that have been in their collection include an original 1859 copy of Charles Darwin "The Origin of Species" and an original printing of "The Cat in the Hat" inscribed by Dr. Seuss. Books in their collection have influenced generations and shaped history and culture. The books here are worth thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. In addition to selling individual books the couple will consult with rare book collectors to help them to build their libraries. In an increasingly digital age it is nice to see that books are still valued in our society.

They said also are doing for Dia de Los Muertos next and all the other holidays coming up. They have a cute little reading area and table on the side with plush animals for kids to read and play. The store is a used bookstore perfectly located across the street from the college. It specializes in selling (and buying) textbooks for the college courses offered nearby. In addition to the textbooks, they carry non-fiction and fiction books (mystery, sci-fi, romance, etc.). The non-texts on the shelves are neatly arranged by category and alphabetically by author. In addition to books, they have some quick study guides, lab coats, and notebook binders, among other things that a student might find useful. Oh, and they even had a section of children's books, too. After browsing a bit through the titles just to make sure we hadn't missed anything, we left without buying anything. But we were glad we'd stopped in to see what they have so we'd know.

For example some courses the books are way more expensive if they are book version. But the class I was taking was only $10 difference between virtual and loose page version. The employees was very helpful and showed me where it was located. The line had 5 people infront me and took a long time getting checked out. Wished they had check out service or something else. But the employees are nice. Yes getting materials are expensive but spending money on bettering your life is sometimes needed. Overall a good experience.

Because we have been having snowy and rainy weather at this time of the year, I used the Abe feature to ask the bookstore owner to be especially careful wrapping the book, to avoid water damage. He wrote back promptly and said he would. The book arrived with lots of protection against moisture and lots of padding. The latter is important because modern books have very poor bindings generally. During D-Day, the Allies designed a system of rubber skirting to allow Sherman tanks to float and be launched out from the beach. The design had a mixed record with many tanks sinking or floundering. If the owner of Liberty Book Store was alive in 1944 and was asked to use his waterproofing talent on the tanks, more would have come ashore and the Allies would have been in Berlin before the Red Army. The online order invoice showed that the owner would ship via media mail. But the book came much sooner - - almost as fast a Priority Mail shipment! This was a very positive experience and I will contact this store first when I am seeking other books.

The place is quite big and the shelves are well stocked with old and new books at good prices. It may take a little bit to learn the genres and if you're looking for specific books, you may need to ask the staff for help. The staff here are nice and when I called to ask if they accepted donations, they politely said yes they will accept small amounts. I assume they may limit the amount they accept as there are many boxes of books there that are not even opened or on the shelves yet so they may be back logged. Used bookstores are a rare find and I think it's so awesome to have a place like Bookwise in the local community!
