Let me start by saying this is a beautiful, uniquely decorated art studio that exceeded my…read moreexpectations in so many ways! Tina, the owner, makes you feel welcome from the second you walk in the door. She greeted me warmly and showed me around her beautiful studio. She has many creative pieces on display that sparked my interest, from jewelry to paintings and more! She even has several of her books in the studio as well that I am dying to read! I came here with a friend to take a jewelry making class. I was hesitant at first because I have never made anything like this before, but I ended up leaving with a gorgeous ankle bracelet and wonderful memories. The class itself was extremely fun. It is held in an adorable little studio with music, snacks galore, and an instructor there to help you every step of the way. The instructor walked us through the jewelry process step by step, and was ready to jump in and fix any mistakes we made. What's truly amazing about this studio is that it is diverse. Tina has done an excellent job creating an environment that sparks creativity. She offers paint classes, jewelry classes, pottery classes, and I'm sure more that I don't know of yet! If you are looking for something fun to do with a group of friends or an exciting date night, be sure to visit her website and book a spot. I can't wait to take another class and get my creativity flowing!

This is one of the coolest organizations in Palm Beach County, and one that I've supported and…read morevisited many times over many years. I love what they do for many communities in the area - they provide a space for artists to display and sell their works, they reduce the amount of trash that goes into landfills, they provide materials for just about anyone to make their own art (including and especially teachers!), educate youth and adults on how to make use of the supplies they offer, and they sell "thrift" type items at a great value that run the gamut from puzzles to vases. What I love most is that I can donate goods that I may have thought about tossing, because someone's garbage is another person's art supply! It's worth going to Resource Depot frequently, because you truly never know what you're going to find or how you're going to be inspired. For instance, I just got a string of lights that I want to hang in a dark corner of my home. I found this amazing ball of thick string and webbed colorful materials that I've now made into a chandelier. Their postcards are also so cool, and inspiring me to make other projects. The staff is always so nice and helpful, and when I've looked for something specific for a project, I've always found someone that is willing to help me out.

Since 1999, the non-profit Resource Depot in Industry Alley, West Palm Beach, has been helping…read morecreative minds bring their visions to life using recycled materials. They take in items that would otherwise end up in landfills and make them available to people who can repurpose them. Resource Depot furthers its mission to leave the planet a little cleaner through workshops, events, and community partnerships. Their Pam Sartory GalleRE showcases local artists' upcycled artwork, while the Materials Marketplace and TrewasuRE Boutique offer repurposed items for sale. Their goal is simple yet impactful: provide materials to those who can use them while promoting sustainable practices and creative expression. Over the past 25 years, Resource Depot has kept an estimated 95+ tons of materials out of landfills, all while raising environmental awareness. As an educator with a limited--or sometimes non-existent--budget, a place like Resource Depot is a lifeline. Schools often can't provide enough supplies for students, and what little remains in the resource closet has to stretch for weeks or months. In the thrift area, I found an incredible variety of affordable items: games, holiday decorations, books, home goods, art supplies, faux florals, ribbons, artwork, and more. The paint alone was worth the trip! If you want to see a child light up, just offer them the chance to paint--fortunately, they had the Crayola washable kind I needed. Shopping is flexible and budget-friendly: a small bin is $5, a large bin is $10, and if you purchase eight large bins, you get one free. Teachers also receive a 15% discount on regularly priced items (not bins). These are prices anyone can afford. Resource Depot is truly a gem, and Palm Beach County is lucky to have such a creative, sustainable, and community-focused resource.

They are super welcoming and nice and will help you with whatever feels foreign to you once you're in there. Such personalized attention even though they were incredibly busy. I went after I got off work, which is around 11 AM. There must've been 30 or 40 people that all came in the door separately and on their own within the first 30 minutes I was there. They were absolutely slammed, but they made time to get to know me, even though it was my very first time in there and they didn't know me and there were clearly many longtime customers there. Everyone was cheerful and upbeat, and everybody got help with their projects. It is a very well oiled machine. The selection is so much fun! The staff is friendly and helpful and makes great recommendations. I had a 30 year-old project that I hadn't touched literally in decades that I wanted to revive and they helped me through every step of the project and made me feel like it was the most amazing thing they had ever seen, even though I started it when I was in my teens and I know it isn't. I just think we are so lucky to have a business like this in Palm beach! They also do finish work, which is outstanding and I will definitely be back again soon. In fact, I already invited four friends and we're going next Wednesday and then going to lunch. What a crowning gem for us here in Palm beach!
