Surprise, surprise! We stumbled upon Eureka Thrift as we were taking an afternoon stroll through…read moredowntown El Paso! The outside was eye-grabbing with the sale promotion, colorful clothing sunny vibes! We were pleased to find that the purple tags were 50% off and yellow tags were 25% off. The value & selection of clothing items were satisfactory. I appreciated the extra privacy for the dressing rooms with the clamps and thick curtains. Service was great! Staff being present to help on the floor and at the counter there were other opportunities to partake in to take off additional %. Our total came up to a little under $24 after browsing through the well stocked athletic section!!! We got so many pieces in that section alone. They have a great shoe collection as well. The purse/bag section was relatively small but still great for other needs. This will definitely be a go-to spot for our clothing and accessory needs! Check out the pricing for hangers in the box (pictured)!

Clothing is arranged by size and grouped by type; the shoes and boots are amazing and there are more sweaters and coats than I expected to find in El Paso. It has that smell. You know, that smell where you think to yourself, "This is where clothes come to…read moredie." But here you are to save the day and pick out some threads that will be re-purposed or simply thrown into a washing machine with a loving amount of Tide until the memories of being lost on a rack are washed away. It's a Salvation Army so no matter what, you can't be mad at it. But my frustration sometimes seeps into my visits here and makes me end them more abruptly than I originally intended. Not because the items...for lack of better word...suck, just because it tends to feel over-picked, like if I had just came the day before I would've found a treasure. When you walk in, you follow the yellow-ish, linoleum road. And upon it you will come across sweet, little ladies (sometimes men, but for this story, ladies) that will guide you on your adventure...although, you can get a lay of the land immediately upon entering. In the vast majority of TSA you will find clothing. Clothing of all sizes, colors and styles. You really do have to look through every single item to see if there is anything worth salvaging (which is where my frustration comes in). I would love if TSA would showcase some of their best items...even if it's not for you, it gives you hope. On front end of the store you'll find furniture and records and other do-dads. I've perused the records multiple times and the section doesn't appear to change out that often so options are limited. TSA could have a good scrub down and tweak a few things here and there, but if you have time to spare and really want to find that on shirt or material that's evaded you, TSA might be worth a look. And of course if you want to save a dollar or two (or ten), prices here are beyond reasonable.

Tooth & Veil isn't your typical Walgreens or Target, you know, a normal and ordinary store. They offer lots of spooky attire, goodies, herbs and more. The owner (Michelle) is a believer of using natural herbs and desert plants to heal the body. If you're from El Paso or the area, you probably know what I'm talking about. I'll give you some examples. When I was a kid, my mom grew yerba buena (mint) in our front yard. She would boil it to make a warm tea for a stomach ache. My grandma often made me cinnamon tea to cure cramps. My family also uses aloe vera to help cure/heal a burn. You cut one of the branches in half. You rub the clear and gooey substance from inside on your burn/cut. It's really soothing. It also works great for a sunburn, especially the type of burn where your skin is peeling. Michelle also carries a variety of teas and even taxidermy items. Their taxidermy products are quite popular with her clients. I saw a rattlesnake, some kind of rodent and even a crocodile head. Michelle's husband told me they've encountered some friendly ghosts at their shop! Wow creepy! If you aren't in El Paso, they have a website you can check out and buy items from. If you're looking for a spooky and/or unique gift for someone, I highly recommend Tooth & Veil. You'll be amazed with the items in there. Check it out! There is something for everyone in there. Let's continue to support local!
