He could have just pushed it off, cause it was from a purchase years back, but he didn't. Within days the parts that I thought I needed, arrived at my door. Then I found it was far more an issue than I thought. Again I called, an as before he walked me through it, an the manufacturer is making up what's needed so I can correct the problem. American made, is what made a difference, along with a business that stands behind what they sell. Right from day one, they always made it a pleasant experience, an very knowledgeable in every way. Have purchased a number of things over the years from them, and a close friend told me about them, an so glad he did. It's made of high quality materials & workmanship as advertised. I needed some advice on picking a milk paint color and called them prior to placing my order online to discuss. They were extremely helpful. The furniture was delivered within the quoted timeframe and was well worth the wait to get exactly what I wanted. If you need furniture "tomorrow" then the cheap stuff at your local store with MDF in places is your best bet. But if you want top quality furniture you can feel proud to own & hand down to your children, Kate Madison is worth a look! The deliverymen were friendly & took care in moving the bookcase in my home. All around a wonderful experience. I will definitely return!

I was starting to give up until I saw the sign for Folsoms furniture and thought, why not give it a try. I'm so glad I did because the store carried quality products, all made in the U.S. and the owner, John Folsom, had extensive knowledge on each piece. The store has been in his family since it was started by his great grandfather and it's obvious he takes immense pride in the business. His prices are very reasonable and the customer service was excellent! I highly recommend Folsoms furniture.

Sorry in advance for the length but…read more.. In the 1st week of Feb '17 we were searching for a power lift recliner. We researched brands/styles/pricepoint & options online. I was drawn to Lane. It turns out Lane's site had several chairs and offered a list of authorized retailers. Not one, within 100 miles had the chair I was interested in and there weren't too many dealers. But the chair looked great and style wise like I wanted so we went to Coastal Furniture in Greenland. Now keep in mind throughout this long story, I'm handicapped. I have difficulty walking and do so with a cane. We were told in Greenland we'd have to go to their other store in Dover. Ugh. So off we went. The store is a big house with product crammed into it and not friendly for a guy w a cane. If you were in a wheelchair, forget it. There's no one to greet you. You have to find your way thru the rooms to the very back. There was 1 saleswoman who we spoke to and looked up our chair. She brought out 2 enormous binders of coverings and explained the 3 categories. I wanted a "leather feel" but opted not to go w real leather - too pricey. So I settled on a "step up" faux leather covering in a mahogany color. We put down the 30% deposit and were told it's about 6 weeks. So I was looking forward April 1. A day or two later I got a call telling me she had not charged my card the deposit and just charged the delivery charge of $100. Ok, so I gave her my card again. At the end of that week. About 6 days later, I received another call telling me the covering I chose was discontinued. This was the first of many "ugh" moments. So we went back that Saturday, picked out another fabric, and realized the chair is now another 2 weeks behind. So mid April. Fast forward to mid April. No chair. I called and was told it's usually 8 weeks. But then at the end of April it was delivered. Here's the first furniture lesson, don't order any furniture you can't see in the store. This chair was enormous! I'm a big guy. It was big enough for Andre The Giant. It was so deep, I could not sit back enough. Also, the design was poor. The headrest portion was hard and made you head forward when sitting. It was simply a very uncomfortable piece of furniture. It was not the Lane furniture we've come to know and love. But the big problem was it did not recline fully ("unlimited reclining positions") as was described in the Lane website (see photo). We wanted to return it. We were told by Lane to contact the store. The store said "no recliner reclines all the way". This simply isn't true. Then, the chair started making horrible grinding noises. Again, we contacted the retailer. They sent a mechanic out who told my wife, "this chair is is imminent danger of defaulting. Metal is about to spring thru the side". He told my wife this is "lousy furniture" and "they've had lots of problems". He took the chair. Then I followed up with a call. She finally agreed to refund my money, less $100 for the delivery. It's mid July. Side note: I left out descriptions of the many emails and calls. The store avoided us at times I'm sure hoping we'd go away. It's not a company I'll ever do business with again. We found an excellent chair at Jordan's Furniture in Nashua. Fantastic experience. Btw, Nashua is 68 miles away. Delivery charge $52. Dover 16 miles $100. Rip off.

Online the return policy isn't posted clearly either. Summary: a certain amount of time. When I went to return a gift, which I had my email receipt, the cashier told me of this policy, which I brought to her attention is ABSURD. She proceeded to call the owner, WHO, said they closed out the 2025 year and could not even provide a gift card. Okay, business owner, other businesses can provide a gift card or provide a full return. Clearly you are lazy and do not want to have happy customers. I live locally and shop down in the port often. I will continue to tell people not to shop at your business because you care more about your sales than customer satisfaction. Sincerely, An unhappy local customer

I have been buying American antiques at Northeast Auctions for 25 years. There are so many things…read morethat I like about it, as a business, that I must corall my thoughts. But as I reflect, I realize that it pretty much all comes down to Ronnie Bourgeault, who is an extremely knowledgeable, energetic, verbose, serious, sometimes grumpy, generous, philanthropic and good hearted man. He is highly respected in the field for being one of/the most antiques-knowledgeable auctioneers, and is well known by and connected to all the major collectors, dealers and museums who have encountered him in the ~ 45 years he has been in the antiques business. Because of his national reputation, he is chosen to sell major collections from CA to NY., so as a buyer, I don't have to travel far to see and examine some of the best material out there. Bourgeault's headquarters is a landmark for 'downtown' Portsmouth, an elegant early 19th c. 3 story brick Federal mansion that is a cornerstone for this uniquely well preserved historic shipping port. Throughout his many years in Portsmouth, he has consciously and quietly purchased and restored a number of early buildings with shaky futures. That means alot to me. He is also an active donor and board member for both local and regional museums and historic organizations of national importance. Bourgeault and his loyal staff run a very smooth professional operation. His auctions are always well attended ; the August one that kicks off N.H.Antiques Week is often where you will see the premier collections being sold. Americana is Bourgeault's focus but his Asian sales are also highly regarded. Both printed and web catalogues are well organized , written, and photographed. My one warning is that if you are new to the auction world, you might want to start by attending other auctions that cater more to newbies by being a bit more user-friendly. In keeping with his 'no nonsense' approach, Bourgeault is probably the fastest auctioneer in New England (at least), often selling 100 lots per hour (where other auctioneers might sell 60-80 lots per hour.) That speed alone takes some getting used to ; there's little room for hesitation, or you may easily be left in the dust! The world of antiques and auctions is a fascinating one and bringing history into your life can be fun, educational and richly rewarding. If and when you decide to take on that goal, Northeast Auctions is a top notch business to work with.
