We were looking for two nights stay in Guildford and found Asperion as a reasonably priced option. What a find! Recently refurbished, everything looks extremely neat, tidy and clean, staff is very friendly and you can park your car right outside. After a transatlantic flight, we arrived earlier than expected at 8:15am. We received a cheerful welcome and a hot breakfast, even though check-in time wasn't until 2pm. The small hotel describes the dinner menu as limited, but 10 options (including vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free) seem more than enough to me. The food was very good. Book direct with the hotel for complimentary breakfast and parking. Don't have a car? The hotel staff arranged car-for-hire for us. The walk to the town center and train station is about 10 minutes. Keep in mind that you're in the Surrey hills, so wear your walking shoes. The hotel was modern and clean. If you have mobility issues, there are 5 steps at the hotel entrance, but easy access to several rooms on the main floor. Our room was quiet (we stayed in Millmead). Charming and wonderful hotel in Surry. Staff is so friendly, the garden is beautiful, and the included breakfast is excellent. We stayed in Room 12...up one flight of stairs, but well-worth the view overlooking the koi pond! There is a very good pub a short block away, so good food is available nearby. (Any other restaurants are a cab ride away.). The restaurant in the hotel is fabulous: small (it's called Ten Tables) and the chef has won some major awards recently. The quality of the dinners there is first-rate. I'd go for dinner even if I weren't staying there...it is a destination dining experience for sure. So: English charm, lovely garden, wonderland friendly owners/staff, delicious food -- what's not to like? About 15 minutes to Guildford (they have a fun farmers market there) and about 45 mins to an hour to Heathrow. Nearby is the amazing Wisley RHS gardens...a great spot to visit (GORGEOUS!). 5 stars to Asperion Hillside. Note that a different Asperion Hotel is close to Guildford...I loved the Asperion Hillside; more rural, but fabulous. By the way, my wife has Celiac, and they were terrific in providing Gluten-free options! Really great!! read more

Quaint, charming, cozy. There's a very limited amount of rooms at the Asperion, so you'll love the attentiveness of the staff. Friendly, gracious staff. They were incredibly helpful in providing information about what to do, where to eat, where to shop, calling taxi's. Service was A+! Delicious all-natural breakfast. Rumor has it that the owner is the actual chef. The omelette's were amazing. After a long work day, the comfortable rooms provided a sense of relaxation. The beds....you never wanted to get out of them! Each room includes a dvd player, tv, free internet, a mini-fridge, plus an assortment of books. They also never seemed to charge me for my phone calls. (Surprising, but awesome!) Oh, and there's free tea, milk, a chocolate bar and fresh fruit! This hotel is about a 10-15 min walk to the town center. Cabs are always available, especially when you're lugging a heavy laptop bag. There's no gym in the hotel, but they give you a free pass to a nearby gym. My co-worker mentioned that it was about a 10 min drive across town. Fantastic experience! absolutely superb. i walked out of a national chain hotel......in disgust and thankfully landed on Asperion doorstep. the fine eye for quality and detail down to the last inch is very welcoming and a pleasant surprise. pure genuis, frankly. a well kept secret - a hidden gem - all of the superlatives +++. Staff warm friendly helpful, food top notch. everything is clean, immaculate but not sterile. Some rooms are too small to swing the cat but..........everything you could possibly want; broadband, tv, phone, mini-bar, honesty bar - just such a pleasant shock for blighty. A total surprise with the beds...........sooper comfortable and normally I have my best pillow hiding in the car for such occasions but totally unnecessary and the crisp linens - i just can't say enough. read more
