I had an amazing experience at Aspen Mountain Dermatology! I was in urgent need of being seen for what I believed to be either an allergic reaction or infection on my face. It had been more than a week and it wasn't clearing up on its own. I could have gone to urgent care but I preferred to see a specialist. I called the front desk and the receptionist, Jenna, was super compassionate about my situation. The soonest I could be seen was two days out, so I booked the appointment anyway. Jenna assured me that I would be called in case there is a cancellation before then that could be filled. Sure enough, not even 10 minutes later I get a call back that there was a cancellation and that I could come in half an hour later. Dr. Olsen was able to diagnose my condition very quickly and was very attentive to my concerns and questions. I was out of the examination room within 15 minutes and never felt rushed. My great experience was largely due to luck, but everyone made the experience all the more flawless despite my diagnosis. After waiting for 40 minutes at Aspen Mountain Dematology , they finally took me back to see the doc... then made me wait even longer... without any explanation and a belated apology from a person who wasn't responsible for the repeated mistake ... after 55 minutes I had to walk out without ever seeing a doc because I had other commitments. The staff is great, but the Praxis group is a scam. I got charged $90 for a missed appointment, that I had called about as well as an email that I wasn't going to be able to make it. When I finally did go, I got my bill shortly after and paid in full; they then kept sending me bills for stuff like "new patient" activation even though I'm not a new patient. Yes, the other bills were small, but that's how they scam you, small enough that you pay without much of a fight but can completely ruin your credit if you don't pay and it gets sent to collections. And good luck calling and asking them to prove that this isn't some bogus charge. Hope they enjoyed their $20 new patient fee because now I'm just a former patient. read more

Aspen Dermatology took me in last minute when I was having an emergency infection from an acne cyst. I was on vacation and called every dermatologist and bend, and they were the only office willing to squeeze me in in my time of need. He administered some cortisone shots and prescribed me antiobiotics and spironolactone for my hormonal, cystic acne. The receptionist, nurse, and Dr. Olsen, we're so lovely and offered such fantastic bedside manner. I wish I lived in Bend so that Dr. Olsen could be my permanent dermatologist. Dr. Pivik has wonderful bedside manner. I had a small tumor that needed to be removed and she was understanding and took great caution to ensure I had as small of scar as possible. I've also taken my 5 year old son to see her. He was getting a hive like rash every time he was in the sun. She was kind and made him feel very safe. His condition was rare, but she knew exactly what it was and now he's doing great. read more

I have been dealing with eczema for nearly my entire life. Until recent years, I have been able to keep under control. It was during my pregnancy with my second child that it had started to flare up and got progressively worse to a point it covered most of my body. After trying my own home remedies and doing blood testing and diet testing, I finally went in to see Dr. Karla. Within literal days after my first visit with her and following her recommendations, there has already been significant improvement. Dr. Pivik was really nice and the cream she gave me seems to be working ok so far, so I feel bad about leaving a negative review. However, I felt very rushed during our appointment and was disappointed that I was unable to talk about a good skin care routine, laser or other treatments to reduce acne scars, or if my current products could be breaking me out. Maybe it was because my appointment was the first of the day or maybe it was just an off day. But I don't have insurance and paid $200 for a quick educational talk on how hormonal acne is formed. read more

I used to go to Aspen Mtn under Dr Pivliks care, but would not recommend the new NP and team. You will see that most of the review's here are for Dr. Pivlik who has moved to another location in town. I would recommend you that you look her up rather than going back to Aspen under the new management. The customer service I received was unacceptable and leaves me to question how Dr's can charge $250+ for a 5 minute freezing procedure that literally did nothing (no signs of freezing, flaking, redness..nothing). I've had this done before and have not had this experience. I should add, that the prior Dr. told me that this sometimes happens with freezing and if so to let her know right away and come back for another spray at no cost. If only the NP would have said "let's see what we can do or sorry this happened" it would have been a much easier pill to swallow. But to just tell you it didn't respond and you have to pay $250 for another 5 minute treatment and also pay for another office visit is unacceptable. Why are Dr's clinics able to administer treatment with zero accountability? Also I am a prior healthcare provider (PT) and business owner so understand the challenges of working in a clinic and of providing great customer service. But this is certainly not the way I would have handled an ineffective treatment. read more

Last winter I had some skin issues from a clothing fabric and saw Dr. Pivik. She discovered I was reacting to fabric finishing chemicals and dye and immediately advised me to change my work clothing. After doing so, I realized the finishing chemicals were causing many other reactions. Had it not been for Dr. Pivik's quick action and great advice, I would have gotten much sicker. Now I'm on the mend! I highly recommend Dr. Pivik at Aspen Mountain Dermatology. So thankful I found this place. I came in one day panicked about a patch on my arm that had recently appeared and desperate for someone to check it out. I know this isn't always possible, but they were able to get me in that afternoon. Every person I interacted with was kind and genuine. The doctor was very thorough with her examination and explained things in a way easy to understand. She wasn't too worried about my patch but suggested a biopsy if I'd like to be sure. After finding out my fear of needles and knives, she made sure I was extra numb and talked things through in a positive, clear manner. She and her staff were patient with my fear and never made me feel rushed or pressured to pull it together. I'm very thankful I found this clinic and would highly recommend! read more

Overall the service we received from the doctor was fine. What is really frustrating is how they handled billing. I emailed in advance to find out how much it would cost for my husband since he doesn't have health insurance. The lady quoted me via email that if no issues were found, it would be about $166 + a 20% off discount for paying upfront. My husband was charged $175, at appointment, which we let go, but then we received a bill for an extra $65. So my husband called and they said it was a prescription the dermatologist gave my husband... except the dermatologist gave him a recommendation for what she called an over the counter product he could buy for acne. read more

Taken aback, I was at a loss for what to do, so I chose to leave, no treatment. As a business owner myself, I know how I would have handled this situation. Best skin doc. In Bend! my son has acne problems and we have seen many but none better that Dr. Pivik and her staff. Friendly and compassionate professional and knowledgeable. Dr Pivik spoke to my son not at him, took her time to explain why and when she gave him a painful shot she cared for him. The PA was quick and friendly and we only waited a few minutes to be seen. Front desk was helpful and polite. This is the way a small practice should be run. If you are 5 minutes late, which I never was, they reschedule your appointment, but you can sit there waiting for 20 minutes when the Dr. is meeting with a pharmaceutical rep during your appointment. Not valued as a client, Karla's stitches pucker and leave a huge scar and she didn't have time to pull away from the pharma rep to even look at what might be a continued skin cancer that was not removed! I recently saw Dr. Pivik and had a great experience. First of all, an awesome Golden retriever puppy greeted me at the door! My office visit anxiety quickly disappeared. The friendly staff and lovely office made me feel right at home. I was expecting this to be the most embarrassing and awkward doctors visit of my life. However, it turned out to be quite the opposite. Dr. Pivik is remarkably easy to talk to be around, even while I wore my "gown". I visited Aspen Mountain Derm per my PCP's recommendation for some moles she was concerned about. I saw Dr. Pivik and she was amazing. She made me feel very comfortable and explained things to me in terms I could easily understand. The front staff and technicians were all professional and friendly. I had to have two moles removed and biopsied. The process was really fast and painless. I was in and out within an hour. I would highly recommend Aspen Mountain to any one of my friends.
