I sat through x-rays, unpleasant deep cleaning and 3D scans at the Temple, TX, office with the understanding my my next appointment would be to get dental implants. But, when the office called to confirm the next appointment, I was informed that i wouldn't be getting the implants at that appointment, just a regular cleaning. This appointment was scheduled more than three months ago with the implants to be done before I went out to town at the end of the month. Of course, now, it's too late to get the dental work done anywhere before I leave. And, then there's the surprise price tag, never discussed at the initial appointment, for a service I wouldn't be getting until some mysterious later date. I'm so disgusted. An old number that I did not recall during the initial conversation was the issue. Next person I called knew how to do customer service very well. I was shocked and disappointed to find out that my crowns that were placed at this location were not correctly fitted into my mouth. My new dentist provided me with images of how there is a "step" between my natural tooth and crown. The result is a mushroom like effect that could potentially be costly to replace down the line. The staff is polite at this location and my fillings were excellent, I am just disappointed with the billing issues and poor quality check of my crowns, therefore I will be addressing my dental needs elsewhere. read more

Worst place ever. Bad service, bad work, unprofessional employees, and they will rob you. I kept going back bc they were the only place that took my insurance but it wasn't worth it. I should've paid more and gone somewhere else. They over charged me by $999 by adding an "upgrade" that I didn't agree to and told them I DID NOT WANT. It's been a year and they still have not credited it back and will not return my calls. I've lost count of how many messages I've left for Sasha. I have a recording of her telling me that the charge would be credited back but of course it wasn't. Erica is rude and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about when she was either wrong or just lying and I have paperwork to prove it. She acted like she no idea how my insurance worked and argued with me about it. She told me my treatment plan was going to be $7k MORE than what I agreed to which obviously upset me. When i asked her to print out a copy of the agreement I signed, she said that was just for my information and they didn't keep those copies, which is an obvious lie. The dental assistants talked shit about the temporary dentist right in front of me at one appointment. They left white streaks all over my face and let me walk out like that, I didn't get a chance to even look bc they rushed me out the door so fast. One time they sent the wrong referral and I ended up having to reschedule with the specialist bc no one answered when the specialist called them to get clarification. The dentist tried to tell me that they always answer and the specialist was lying, but they called from my phone, right in front of me, so I could hear the phone ringing and ringing with no answer. I had to leave work twice to deal with this mistake that they wouldn't own up to. Another time I had an infected tooth and called them every day for 3 days to update them and describe my symptoms and see if I could get in sooner, they told me it was fine, I had to wait for my appointment, and didn't tell me to do anything. When I finally saw the visiting dentist he told me I should've gone to the ER 2 days ago and could've gone blind. On another occasion I saw a visiting dentist and he told me something was wrong with what the main dentist did and wanted to make sure I knew that he was not taking responsibility for the previous work. Save your time and your sanity and go somewhere else. It's truly not worth it to try to save money and you will probably end up spending more anyway bc of the charges they will add without your consent. read more

Scam artists. I came in due to an old filling falling out and had quite a bit of mouth pain. The dentist did the filling extremely fast. She had no assistant and it took half the time of any other filling I had in the past. Within two days I started having tooth pain again and realized my filling came out. I returned to the dentist and she didn't even bother looking in my mouth. Just told me I needed a root canal. I definitely couldn't afford that as I don't have insurance. I was charged well over $100 for a three minute appointment. I ended up going to a different dentist and he said he could absolutely just do a filling on the tooth. I went to Aspen Friday, Jan 20, 2023 and I liked the dentist I saw but when a front desk person approached me, I knew I was in trouble. I was 8 months from my always scheduled appointment to have my teeth cleaned because my regular dentist retired. She said I needed an old crown replaced (no problem with it) and I cannot have a regular prophy but a gingivitis cleaning at an outrageous amount that I do not have because of the economy. BEWARE!!! If I could give zero stars I would. This dental practice no matter what location you go to is SHADY!!!!! They bill your insurance for services not performed. They demand full payment for dental services, when you have insurance, BEFORE they will even set you an appointment for those services. When you are due a refund they will make up excuses as to why you can't get that refund. When you call them out on these things, they get nasty on the phone. When you ask for their corporate office phone number they tell you that YOU can look it up. They refuse to give their names over the phone. When you ask to leave word for the dentist to call you, they say she doesn't return calls. That is just for my account. For my depend's account, they billed us over and over again for services he was COMPLETELY covered for. After 1/2 dozen phone calls and in person meets, they "wrote the balance off for patient dissatisfaction". They were to flipping lazy to file the claim all the way up to the deadline. I honestly don't know why there are so many bad reviews so I decided after my visit I would write a good review. I haven't been to the dentist in 10 years and I'm definitely scared of dental work. I scheduled here because I knew I could be seen and my insurance won't kick in until January. EVERYONE was so nice and patient with me after I explained how I was nervous and it's been years. I got a treatment for gingivitis and my hygienist explained everything she was doing. I have to go back to get more work and I'll be cancelling my appointment with the dentist on base because everyone here made me feel so comfortable. They even charged my phone for me. I had dentures made at Aspen and they were the worst. They were made improperly. They are way too big for my mouth, the gums were made way too big to where I could not even open my mouth to eat. I went back and made half heartedly to correct but that was a waste of my time. After I realized they were not capable of correcting their mess, I decided to go to a dentist in Waco and she could not believe how messed up they were she tried to fix them where I could eat but was unsuccessful. So I decided to have them make the dentures and they took their time after several trips to have each step fitted and adjusted properly. The permanent ones are being made. And the gums don't come past my lips and teeth in middle of mouth. Do not use Aspen for false teeth. It will be a waste of money and time! read more

Went to the temple location to get exstensive work done. I received X-Rays and examination which my insurance was billed $249 but I was told after the fact it would have been free if I didn't have insurance. Then comes the treatment plan packet that the front office person (not a dentist) went over with me. The first front office person gave me a price including bleaching. Then when I called to pay for the initial enchanted cleaning (which I was charged $1010 after insurance) I just happened to go over my treatment plan with the individual and when I brought up bleaching she said bleaching wasn't included however on the treatment plan that I received clearly indicated bleaching was included. I asked to speak to the first person I spoke to which apparently was the head financial person for the office (not a dentist). I was told she wasn't going to be in the office until 12pm. I called a second time to speak to her, I was told she was busy and they will let her know to contact me. I received no contact from her which seemed funny to me because before they got my money they were very easy to be reached but when there were issues with the charges it was a ghost town over there. I also found this article on PBS (link below) which was pretty much in line with what I feel was in the process of happening to me had I gone forward with Aspen Dental in Temple, Tx. It took 8 months to get a billing error corrected. The most recent thing they did was lie and say they had called and changed an appointment from 2 pm to 1 pm. They called at 1:10 pm and said "it looks like you missed your appointment we can reschedule for January 2022." It was an absolute lie no one ever called from their office. I went in due to a fractured tooth and the dentist was going to pull it. I was in such severe pain that I couldn't even sit still and was very upset. She told me if I didn't calm down then she wasn't going to pull the tooth. She then proceeded to try to pull the tooth out and after no success, she left. I had a mouth full of blood and was in worse shape than I arrived. I made a complaint and she decided it would make her to uncomfortable to work on me again. But she wasn't going to be, it was going to be their oral surgeon. I had no intention on ever returning to that nightmare. I was told to find my own oral surgeon and they would send the referral.... They left me alone in a room crying and anxious. They wouldn't allow my Dad to come back with me but other people came back with their partners or an extra person. Aspen Dental went above and beyond to get my husband in for some temporary dentures because his next appt at the VA couldn't be scheduled until February. Dr. Dulaney herself called him back saying she had talked with someone in their in house lab and for him to come back in the very next day for his impressions and the next day he was fitted with his wax teeth. This all happened in 3 days! I'll let you know on Friday the final results! Thank you Aspen Dental for your kind understanding dentist and overall staff from the front desk to the dental assistants and office people for such great teamwork to make us happy with your excellent service! It shows that you genuinely care about your customers, and after just recently having my own teeth done at another dental office in Belton, YOUR service is truly outstanding and appreciated. I left the office that I used in Belton in tears on several occasions. When you just ask for pretty teeth and you want to leave a happy customer, I'm glad it looks like my husband will have this opportunity with Aspen Dental in Temple Tx. I had an emergency tooth extraction prior to insurance, and while costly, we were able to come up with a great financing option. I returned to continue cleaning care for periodontal disease but was met with a similar issue of, after running my insurance, still a costly amount. My biggest issue unfortunately was with the front desk. I don't really leave reviews but after crying in my car I felt it necessary. Due to the financial and medical issues it was a bit stressful for me. I didn't have much experience with dental insurance in my life so I wasn't understanding of some things. The front desk lady asserted to the office multiple times that I had a disease that needed fo be treated a certain way. She seemed to have a thorough and vocal understanding of my issues but was defensive rather than helpful. She had another associate lower a cost while she kept saying that if I just did a regular cleaning that her associate would be committing fraud. I wasn't quite understanding and unfortunately the front desk woman was not able to explain or identify the issue and take care of it with a solution. I am not sure if she did not like her job enough to help the clients but I would probably not recommend going here just because they seem to hire employees that aren't trained enough on solving issues and have their clients leave upset. Refused to do a regular cleaning on me, because I have a small area that would benefit from a deep cleaning. Even after insurance, cost for out of pocket would be $1,100! So upset with this unprofessional, inept office! I traveled 80+ miles round trip, to go to this 'office' that's in my dental plan! They wanted to pull one tooth, & put 2 implants and crowns on two. This would cost $13+K, $6+K would be my cost! The dentist, Whitney White, said I could get a 2nd opinion & I'm in the process of finding a new dentist to do that! They said I didn't fill out the 'release form' so I went BACK & filled it out. Went to an oral surgeon today and they wouldn't send a referral, or the x-rays & said I didn't fill out the release form! The office manager needs training. She made mistake scheduling appointment, then office staff blamed it on me. I had the appointment card to prove she made a mistake. She then asked me for money when I didn't owe any. Then I had my procedure scheduled and the office staff tried to get $175 out of me before the procedure. Who operates a professional business in this manner? Then when I left the office, this office manager calls me back and tries to explain away the fact they tried to get money from me when I hadn't even had anything done yet. I had an appointment there a couple days ago when and with my daughter a patient was before me talking to the clerk so I was standing there waiting witnessing one of the nurses in the back talking to somebody face to face without a mask on so about 3-4 minutes past I walk up to talk to the receptionist and she looks at me and says you need to put a mask on so I said why do I have to put one on when your nurse right there is not wearing one she had it on it was under her chin the whole time so she said my nurse has it on and I said no she doesn't ma'am look back there she doesn't have it on at that time the nurse walked back away found the nurse and said you need to put your mask on came back to me and said put your mask on fill out your paperwork to get started for the day. 5 minutes later after filling out all my paperwork the nurse receptionist came up to me and said the main doctor doesn't want to deal with you she heard that you called out my nurse and felt that you were trying to cause a problem. We met with a patient rep 3 times and was told that even if the local office made a mistake with approval, Aspen Dental would take care of the balance. Well, that didn't happen so I can only conclude that they have no integrity or honesty with billing. Stay away unless unless you are prepared for a bill on approved work years later. My plan with Humana ( I've had for one month)only allows me to go here . After my experience I will be canceling my plan and going elsewhere. We came here as our first time two weeks ago . When you come in for preventative care you will get X-rays and exam from dentist . The hygienist will look at your teeth and determine what kind of cleaning he will do , then you have to reschedule for that so you will have to do a copay for the cleaning . If the patient is under 18 they could possibly get the cleaning the same day .Be prepared for the hygienist to push a $130 toothbrush on you , even though I explained I have over $200 toothbrush at home his response is " this one is better". He told me I needed " an in between regular cleaning and heavy cleaning " which insurance doesn't cover and I pay $125.Odd since I've never had to before and I keep up with my cleanings.After 3 separate attempts of trying to get him to give me a regular cleaning , he has refused insisting on the &125 cleaning or no cleaning at all . Also my son had an appointment for X-rays , exam and cleaning. No cleaning was done , I asked why not since under 18 is an exception, the response was the hygienist didn't have time and we would have to come back . I'm certain it's so they can charge for separate office visit and more copay . There is only one hygienist, and it seems he gets a commission for his up charged services. I'm angry that he is telling me what he's going to do , when it's my money and my mouth it's my choice. This is a chain dental company, they are all about the money and will find ways of squeezing every cent out of you and your insurance.I will be reporting this and a couple of other issues I didn't mention. I came in as a new patient and here is my experience. I showed up to an early morning appointment and wait over an hour to be seen for x-rays and exam. The tech and dentist were pleasant which is the only good. Besides the hour plus wait my biggest issue is their stated procedure on requirement at least 60% prepayment for ANY procedure to be even scheduled. I have NEVER heard of that and neither have any of my friends. I have insurance. My out of pocket for a periodontal cleaning and one cavity was $264. Not even something major, so I don't get it and they won't be getting a penny out of me. January is not far away so I will wait for my next year to get evaluated and any work done. I don't recommend them unless you want to tolerate a wait and put up with a stupid policy. read more

My first appointment I was told by the provider we were going to complete one filling went to the back to get an estimate only to get the bill later which was three times what I was quoted. Apparently they completed 2 fillings and did work my insurance didn't cover. What's the point in providing insurance a month in advance prior to treatment and being told it's accepted.
