Staff is very friendly and the office is nice. However, I had made an appt. for teeth cleaning and x-rays. After the exam by the dentist Felicia (very nice) came in and did the x-rays. All good so far!! After that a different tech? came in and I thought she was going to clean my teeth. Instead she was just there to do another exam. After that exam she told me that I needed deep cleaning and that I had to make another 2 more appts. for deep cleaning due to insurance constraints which was going to cost me out of pocket. I said all I want is a normal teeth cleaning like I had had in the past with previous dentists and she told me they would not be doing that and I should go back to that dentist if that is what I wanted. Felt scammy, like a bait and switch tactic to me. The final tech, or whatever she was, acted like I insulted her and came back with a real attitude. Worst interaction with a dentist office ever! I LOVE Acre Wood Dental in Temple, TX. Everyone in the office is amazing, from the front desk, hygienist and Dr. O. I'm a big chicken when it comes to dental work, I'd rather see my OB/GYN and that should tell you everything. BUT this dental office is great. Accommodating to this chicken, very gentle and easy to talk to (friendly, professional but not "stuffy or hard" they talk to you like a real person and put my mind at ease. Dr O talks to me about what he sees, asks if I'm having any "issues". They are not pushy about what procedures you must do. They make recommendations but do not push you into anything. Definitely felt comfortable going here as a first time patient. It was nice that they cared about how my experience was and they really did make me feel at home haha. Fortunately because Dr. Olzack was smart and liked to double check everything, I didn't get a filling that they thought I needed. Dr. Johnson, the hygienists, assistants, and front desk are honestly the best Iv ever came across. I just moved here with my husband who's active duty and honestly it will be hard to leave this dental office when we need to move again because of the great care they provide. I came in for a deep cleaning and it was a first time for numbing in decades so i was Extremely nervous but it was truly painless! Love the fact they have a tv in the ceiling. Super nice office. Very expensive, they did seem to have the latest in technology. I had to get a crown, had to go back twice, first to get glue taken off the top of my mouth ; next my bite was totally off and he filed it down the next day. I'm not so sure I will go back. Gatesville, TX location The x-rays were the most barbaric thing I've ever experienced in a dentist's office. They were painful and cut the inside of my mouth in three different places. I was told that I had ten cavities by Dr. Dimond. I had a second opinion and was told that I have no problems and that my teeth are beautiful. The second Dr. actually fixed my sensitivity and suggested sensodyne toothpaste. I'm so glad I went with my instincts and got a second opinion from a different business. This facility is fraudulently telling patients that they need actual dental work completed when in fact they do not. Acre Wood Dental is trying to scam patients into unnecessary dental procedures. I really can't describe how amazing this dental practice is. I've avoided dentists for decades because of a bad experience before. On my first visit they literally made me feel like family and had me leaving the office comfortable and cackling I had so much fun! Dr Johnson is the MOST caring healthcare provider I've ever met, even to the point of giving me his personal number after a very huge procedure I had done. He's hilarious and you can tell they are very close and enjoy their jobs. Kisha and Jen at the front counter go out of their way to get to know their patients and always greet you with a smile and the warmest welcome. I probably know them better than I know half my coworkers lol. If you need a dentist you can trust and will walk away with confidence that they have your best interest at heart, Acre Wood is the office for you! I wish I would have read these reviews before scheduling an appointment here for my husband. Their price for the exam was pretty reasonable, so I took my husband in because he had been informed by another dentist that he needed 3 of his wisdom teeth removed. When we got to the dentist's office, he approached the front desk, and the receptionist told him she'd be with him in a second. So he sat down and he waited for her to be ready for him, but instead she started snacking and gossiping with her friend. He walked up and asked her if he needed to fill out any paper work (It's his first time at this dentist, so obviously he knew he needed to fill out some forms) But she told him to wait, she'd be right with him. Then she continued to snack and gossip with her friend. We would have been fuming if it hadn't been for the dental hygienist opening the door and calling his name, and low and behold, she was holding the paper work! He had to fill out the paperwork in the dentist chair, and it took a long time for anyone to come check on him after they got him the room. He had to go give the paperwork to the front desk himself, and wait to be seen (why not have just given him the paperwork in the waiting room if he was going to have to wait??). So he gets seen, the dentist pokes and prods his mouth as expected, all the while I'm in the waiting room having to endure overhearing the receptionists enjoying their chatty "lunch break." When I go to see my husband, I'm told that they can do the surgery for around $1500, but he can't have a full anesthetic, only local. This surprised me, as when I had my wisdom teeth removed, I had been put under completely. My husband seemed uneasy about it, which I understood, and so we asked if they could refer us somewhere that did full-anesthesia even though he said it would cost more. When we went to pay afterwards, the receptionist took my card without so much as a hello, and continued chatting with her friend. We got out of there as fast as we could. That being said, we will NOT be returning to Acrewood Dental in Temple. If you go there and expect a friendly staff and caring professionals, you will be thoroughly disappointed. read more

What a great team! I recently had to find a new dentist due to a change in my insurance. I am so blessed to have found Dr Johnson and his staff at Acre Wood Dental. Literally the best experience I have ever had at any office, not limited to dental. I was welcomed with friendly smiles and introductions to the staff. A tour and a gift bag. Staff that listened attentively and explained treatment plans and financial responsibility thoroughly. I was initially referred to Acre Wood and then read some reviews that were not too favorable. Then, I noticed that the reviews posted were out-dated. As of the Summer of 2018, I would implore anyone in need of dental work or even just a cleaning to give them a chance. You could not possibly be disappointed. I left Acre Wood dental with great teeth and feeling like I made some friends in the process. read more

This was the best experience I have ever had at the dentist!! I hadn't been in many many years because I moved away from my regular dentist and I kept having bad experiences elsewhere. They welcomed me with a gift, and the waiting room offers free cookies and drinks. In the exam room the tv was set to HGTV so I was all set. The assistant and dentist were both extremely kind, but more importantly, I didn't feel like they were only after my wallet. The dentist mentioned that there were several spots that we would need to watch, but instead of going immediately to expensive fillings, like I've found most other dentists do, she got me some prescription toothpaste and said that we would keep close eye on the issues. I also got a quote for a crown that I needed, which I found to be reasonable, but I didn't want to schedule the appointment yet because it would still mean ~$600 out of pocket. They were not even the tiniest bit snobbish about it. Overall, it was a very relaxing experience! I only wish that I had heard about them sooner! read more

Dr. Ben and his staff are very personable and caring. I was terrified of the dentist due to childhood trauma to my mouth. Dr. Ben and the girls made me feel comfortable and explained everything during the procedure. He made sure that I was completely numb with gel and I could barely feel the needle, no pain at all during a 3 hour procedure! Scheduled 0800 appointment which I would assume is the first appointment of the morning. I spent 2.5 hours in their office for the evaluation (mostly watching fixer upper in an exam room) Which sucks when you're missing work to be there. Everyone was friendly and I got a travel mug as a "gift" but was told I needed over $5,000 worth of work. My insurance would cover all but $1,700. One of the most expensive procedures being scaling and root planing. During the exam, the hygienist asked "have you ever been told you have gum disease?" I replied "no". After the exam was completed I was informed that I have some bone loss. No other information was given on the actual diagnosis of "gum disease" Of course all of this freaked me out. I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist. At the other dentist, I was informed that I have no evidence of gum disease and have healthy gums. They had no idea why root planing and scaling was even brought up. I only need a crown which costs around $850 and my insurance will cover all but $400. I saved myself $1300 and a lot of pain by finding another dentist. read more

Acre wood dental provided the worst dental experience of my life. My former dentist retired and it was now time to find a new dental family. While I knew I needed some extensive work, they quickly put together an 11k+ estimate of treatment. When I called to make my first treatment appointment, Keisha was incredibly rude to me, nearly yelling at me on the phone because I was unsure of exactly which procedures were going to be performed. I had to get off the phone and call her back because I had become so uncomfortable. I apologized and blamed the experience on my anxiety about the procedure just so she would be nice to me. She told me more than once that she had 17 years of experience and she could answer any questions I had, the doctors with busy with patients. I chose sedation during the first appointment on the treatment plan. I took the medications and showed up to the office with my friend. While we were there, we listened to Keisha, the receptionist yell at a client over the phone because he didn't understand his statement of benefits sent by his insurance company. Once taken back, I met the dentist that was going to perform the procedures and he gave me more sedative medication. While he was giving me the Novocain shots, I woke up multiple times. Instead of talking me through the anxiety and completing the shots so he could move on with the procedures, he stopped and refused to continue. I asked several times for him to be patient with me and to continue because I didn't want to waste the entire day medicated. He refused again and told me my ride had been called and I needed to see a different dentist. They didn't even call to check on their sedated patient, me, later that day or the next. I have NEVER been treated so poorly by a so called professional. The next day, today, I went to see a new dentist that not only told me that much of the work they planned to do was not required and unnecessary. I have more to say but in short - do not chose this dentist office. They are not confident enough in themselves to perform procedures that require a positive bedside manner, they do not treat their patients with respect and kindness, they do not follow up, they put items on treatment plans that are not necessary...I feel very much taken advantage of, I'm glad I was able to find someone else quickly that had a more honest long term approach. It is a real shame we have to weed out the bad ones to get to the good ones. read more

First off I have no issue with the desk folks or the courteousness of the staff. Everyone is extremely polite. Well they should be, because they're the most expensive office in town. Now comes my beef with one of the Drs, Dr Olzak. I have seen him 3 times now and let him work on me and I find him in need of remediation. The first time was for fillings. That was the best visit since they were pretty shallow, but after the work was done the filling was horribly uneven with the rest of the tooth. I had to file it down over time with my tongue. I shouldn't have had to do that. Next I got a rear molar extraction which was ok, I've had better, but he only numbed me on the outside and had to go back on the inside with none of that wonderful gel that makes the needlestick not hurt. Ow! That hurt like hell!! It was very reminiscent of the days when that stuff didn't exist. Again, I shouldn't have had to go through that. Everything seemed fine for a while and then I started to get bone slivers.....lots of them. I make a call and they get me in pretty quick to their credit(but their regular hours are horrible.) So he says yes he has to numb me up to get those out. So I get the wonderful gel on the outside just like last time. And just like last time he didn't numb the inside and I could feel it. So he sticks me on the inside of the mouth again without the wonderful gel......OWWW @#$%!!! That really friggin' hurt. And then proceeded to pull out the slivers. Trouble is there were more in there and I couldn't feel them because my tongue was numb, but I'm not the one sitting there with high powered magnifying glasses. Now a week later I still have extremely painful bone slivers in my jaw the size of large fish scales that I've been trying to get out myself because I don't want to go back to that place, but I can't get them out so I'm going to have to find another dentist who isn't so careless. So Dr Olzak......YOU'RE FIRED! read more
