I want to share my experience in a fair and balanced way. While my overall visit did not leave me feeling comfortable enough to return, this review is not meant to tarnish the office or its providers. I understand that there are many moving parts that go into a patient feeling heard and comfortable, and sometimes things don't land the way they're intended. To begin, I'd like to highlight the dental assistant, Melecia, who completed my comprehensive imaging and blood pressure and made a wonderful first impression with her warm, patient, and attentive approach. She also made genuine conversation, which helped personalize my experience and put me at ease. Unfortunately, there was confusion regarding the purpose of my appointment. I had scheduled what I believed to be a cleaning with the hygienist, but the visit turned out to be an establishing appointment only. This was not clearly explained beforehand or during the visit. I later learned that a full assessment is required prior to scheduling a cleaning, which I understand; however, this could have been communicated more effectively. Had I known, I would have attempted to schedule both appointments on the same day, but that was not presented as an option. The lack of clarity left me feeling uneasy, created a feeling of mistrust and uncertainty about the office's priorities--I questioned whether quantity was prioritized over quality. When I expressed my frustration, I felt my concerns were not fully acknowledged. The interactions with the providers created discomfort, and my concerns appeared to be passed along to other providers (Dentist to Hygienist) rather than addressed directly, which ultimately led me to request my imaging and recommendations to continue care elsewhere. Once a negative interaction occurs, timely acknowledgment and follow-up can make a significant difference in restoring patient comfort. While I have decided to seek care at another office, I hope this feedback helps improve communication for future patients. I do want to give credit where it's due -- Melecia was exceptional, and I also appreciate the office manager, Tami T., who took the time to speak with me afterward to understand my experience and potentially resolve the situation. That effort did not go unnoticed. As someone who advocates for patients professionally, I believe it's important for patients to feel empowered to direct their own care, choose providers thoughtfully, and seek environments where they feel both heard and respected. read more

Today august 19th I have an appointment for cleaning. Appointment made 6 months ago. I arrive 10 minutes before scheduled only to be told they can't see me today. My hygienist is out. No phone call or text Next available is Sept 10th People there don't know how to run an office. And actually I wasn't entirely impressed anyway. While having my teeth cleaned in the past I had to hear endless personal stories. Don't choose it unless you have no other options. Management is non existent Makes me put a star to post!! read more

Today was my first experience with Aspen Dental and they really went above and beyond in helping me. I cracked a tooth, which resulted in an infection that was so painful I was unable to sleep at all. They really went above and beyond to get me seen first thing in the morning. Like most people, the dentist has always invoked absolute fear and anxiety. I have been very self conscious about my teeth and everyone in this location was not only very kind, but gave me a lot of hope for the future. I couldn't thank them enough for helping me when I really needed it. The scheduling seems to be handled by a central office that may not always be in sync with the individual locations, but the staff here really did go above and beyond. Not at all happy with my teeth. The dentist is a disgrace to dentistry!!! He was very ruff and rude. Asked him to stop with the novicane shots and he didn't. Assistant had to say doc your hurting her. Should have gotten second opinion I don't believe he had to pull all my top teeth! When I had just gone in to get a gap fixed between two teeth. I highly don't recommend the niskayuna office. read more

Just because it's a holiday week doesn't mean I get to slack off at work, but because my appointment was on the 3rd I'm guessing they didn't want to deal with it the day before a holiday. Had a great experience with Dr Marjorie today. Got a tooth extraction and she was sure to make sure I was comfortable with plenty of novacaine, being sure I was as comfortable as possible for quite frankly an uncomfortable procedure. She was very efficient in her process and the tooth was out in less than 10 minutes. Gave me all the proper directions for after process. Was very satisfied. Everyone has been super nice here. Lisa the dental assistant being sure I was comfortable before the doctor came in, Tammy with financing was great too. I definitely suggest those to you who are looking for a dentist and feel like there's nowhere to go. Aspen - Schenectady is very reliable and will assist even if you don't have dental insurance. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Staff is completely useless and lazy. They never call you back or follow through with anything. I tried to get extractions from them 2 weeks ago and they told me they could get me in the same week I called. The next day they call me and tell me they don't have any appointments until November knowing I needed my extractions to be done within that same week I called and they said they had "plenty openings". Which was a total lie. I swallowed that horrible experience and decided to call them 2 days ago to schedule a cleaning. They took my insurance and set my appointment and everything was fine. Then yesterday they call me and say the timing I picked was "too late" for them. Which just means their too lazy to see me. So, I agreed to come an earlier time. Then this morning they call me and tell me they cannot see nor help me because they don't all of a sudden take my insurance when the girl on the phone said they very much did. 0/10 in customer service. Will never be going to any Aspen Dental locations ever again. A big waste of time. read more

I have been to the Aspen Dental on Altamont Ave in Rotterdam 3 times recently. For an exam and X-rays, for a cleaning and today to get a tooth filled. I can't say enough great things about the office. From the doctors to the office staff, everyone has been wonderful. I couldn't be happier. So glad I stopped in. I'm finished with Aspen Dental. It's time that I find a local dentist instead of a box store dentist office. I was using Aspen Dental in Latham. My dental Hygienist was Great ! She deserved 5 stars, the admin were rude and gave me a hard time. I had enough, so I switched to Aspen in Rotterdam. Everything was ok for my next two visits. Than the whole big box store attitude returned. In Late spring 16' they called a day before my appointment to state my hygienist was on Vacation this week and needed to reschedule. Who takes a vacation on such a short notice. I'm sure it was planned and the admin team forgot or neglected to call. My next appointment - one month later, I got the call the morning of my appointment stating she was out sick. I understand, illness's can't be prevented. Sept 16' they called one day prior with a scheduling conflict. It just st seems to be one issue after another. read more

Extremely disappointed with my experience with them. I can't wait to finish my prepaid obligations so I can find a different dental program.
