Came in for my checkup which was simple and quick at the beginning of the year and was told to come back later for the cleaning, given a reminder card and email. Annoying but okay I can do that. Come back and the "system error" in APRIL kicked my appointment in June. No update email about potential issues or suggestion to check my appointment. Arrive dead on time and then sent on a goose chase to get an appointment another 15 min further tomorrow. Already lost PTO and gas for this one. I scheduled an appointment two weeks ago at aspen dental, for tomorrow. They have called me three times. And left a voicemail twice and both times I couldn't answer because I was in class. Both of those calls were to confirm my appointment. When I had already confirmed it online, and then through automation after the first time I called back. The third time they called, the voicemail said I had to verbally confirm my appointment. And all three calls said I needed to give them my insurance. Each time I selected option two, like the voicemail and the automated voice told me to do. The first time I called them back I was on hold for 4 minutes, and then was told that they were unavailable to take my call. The second time I called I got the same message. This last, and most recent time, someone picked up the phone and immediately hung up. After that call, I got a text message stating that my appointment for tomorrow was cancelled and I need to reschedule. I do not recommend this place. They have awful service. read more

My visit started off fantastic. Everyone was kind. (The guy at the front desk and the gal doing X-rays were AMAZING.) My issues started after my visit. I went there because I had a problem tooth causing me pain. I had an appointment scheduled for a later date however due to pain chose to walk in. I waited a long time but I was fine with that, I was appreciative that they were seeing me same day. I saw the dentist in the morning. He prescribed me an antibiotic and gave me my options for treating the tooth. By late afternoon, I was in excruciating pain. I called the office to ask about pain control as everything over the counter I tried was not helping and was told to give the antibiotic 24-48 hours to kick in. I was in pain THEN. I ended up going to my PCP, who prescribed pain meds and also upped the dosage on the antibiotics because he didn't feel that the dentist had ordered a strong enough dosage. The following day (Saturday) I woke up with 1/2 of my face swollen, a knot on my jaw the size of a golf ball, and a bubble on my gum. I was told to continue the antibiotic and nothing would help until I did a root canal or got the tooth pulled. (Which I knew. I was trying to deal with the infection so I COULD get the tooth treated.) I had to go BACK to my Dr to get a new antibiotic. At this point I decided I would no longer utilize Aspen. I went to a new dentist, who called Aspen for my X-rays. Aspen refused to release my X-rays, telling my new dentist I needed to go into their office, sign a release, and it would take 7-10 business days to have the X-rays released because the request has to go to their corporate. So I had to have some new X-rays done, which I'm likely going to have to pay for out of pocket, because the new dentist can't treat me without seeing the damned X-rays. After getting new X-rays my new dentist determined I am going to need to see an oral surgeon because I have so much infection and swelling he doesn't feel he can adequately numb me up. Never ever again will I use their services. read more

I had dentures made by Aspen in Eastgate, Ohio, about three years ago and have had to have them repaired three times in the last year and a half! Thank goodness I bought the warranty! Dentures should last for years without having to be repaired, certainly not three times! They claim "same day repair," but getting them to fit me in was almost impossible. When I started crying and begging, they finally told me to bring them in. When I dropped them off, they told me it would take 2-3 hours, this was at 2:30. I finally called them at 5:50 to see what the status was, and they told me the tech just finished them and to come and get them. I hopped in my car immediately, and halfway there, they called and told me they are closed. I was 10 minutes away. They would not stay, so I could pick up my dentures. I lost 5 hours of work between the 2 days. I will NEVER do business here again. If anyone does use them for dentures, you should buy the warranty package because the quality of workmanship is horrible! read more

I went into Aspin Dental, thinking that all of my dental needs would be taken care of and instead I've was sadly proven wrong. I went in and it felt like being hurt it in like cattle they were pulling patients and doing what they had to do giving them the minimal time going to the next patient to the night. I already had x-rays. They took more x-rays, which cost me to have to pay out of the pocket because I was over my limit. The professionalism was just to sterile. There was no personality. I was just disappointed in the place. The dental treatment was OK. There was nothing special about it and I would not recommend them anyway I was informed by a friend that the Aspin Dental in Newport was exceptional. They sent me a cancellation text the Sunday night before what was supposed to be my 9AM Monday morning initial appointment of the two-part series of appointments they require to get a simple cleaning. Great big red flag. Then when I called to reschedule and asked what was the cause of their cancellation, they said they didn't have enough hygienists, but that one just came in and I could still come in if I wanted to, huuuh? Hanana and get the worst advice about the removal of a dental implant. He knew absolutely NOTHING about it and would have put me in danger if I had done things his way. Aspen Dental is a straight up rip off. They over charge for services that are not covered by most insurance companies. I wanted a basic cleaning and ended up getting something that wasn't covered and in my opinion not needed. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Tricare Prime and still had to come out of pocket $600 for the two times I went there for cleaning. I would not recommend this place at all. I was at a nearby store today and decided to visit the Aspen Dental office at Newport Pavilion in Newport KY. The front desk was unmanned, there was no staff in sight. After waiting a few minutes, I yelled out "hello". No response. Did it two more times. Still no response. Concerned, I called the police, fearing a problem. The police after arrival did not get a response either. An officer decided to check out the rooms and finally found the staff in the back room having lunch. I tried calling 25 times the day before to confirm my appointment but their phone lines were down and it even stated on their website "Aspen phones are down today." When I got there they even proceeded to tell me their phones were down yesterday, but my appointment was canceled because I could not call and confirm yesterday. How was I suppose to confirm when THEIR phones don't work. They were not friendly at the desk when it was their fault they canceled. Worst experience ever. For my "screening" appointment, I showed up 15 minutes early as requested, and they saw me 45 minutes after my scheduled time. I was late for work, and they didn't even acknowledge it. I scheduled for an earlier time for the actual cleaning, where they added fluoride, because "might as well since your insurance covers it" says the dental hygienist. Fast forward to when I receive the bill, they charged me for the fluoride, insurance didn't cover it. I called 3 times to ask why (first time they said they would have to call me back; 4 days later I called the second time because I didn't hear anything from them; third time I had to call again because the girl hung up on me instead of connecting me to the office manager). They didn't acknowledge my being disconnected, and instead gave a "get on with it" attitude. The office manager said she would take care of it. A month later, I get another bill saying I owe $29. Okay, fine, I'll just pay it and not go back. Go online, they say I owe $40. Call them, Rachel just repeated "I don't know why it says $29" followed by periods of silence. Then she finally says "well, $40 is the price for the fluoride, so I guess your insurance doesn't cover it." Soo is Aspen double dipping right now, or what? Find another company. I've been here 3 times after I had to switch insurances and each time I have had to wait 30 minutes up to TWO hours after my appointment was supposed to start. Today during my cleaning, 3 different employees stopped in to tell my hygienist that other patients were waiting for her. Clearly, they overbook on purpose. The facility is dirty and everything from the decor (lots of fake plants) and even cleaning techniques seem very outdated. Aspen Dental is a racket; they get paid per cavity. A summary of my visit: when I arrived, the receptionist told me they had canceled my appointment because their x-ray machine was broken. I had received no notification of my 'canceled' appointment. She said since I was there, they would see me. They proceeded to give me a LOT of x-rays. I guess their machine wasn't broken? This is still mysterious to me. While I was in the chair, I heard the receptionist calling my name to the waiting room. I guess she was slightly disorganized that day. The "dentist" came in to see me, and immediately told me I had four cavities, pointing to the points where my teeth touched. At that moment, the receptionist came into the room to tell me they actually didn't take my dental insurance and that I would have to leave. I was sent to the office manager's office to discuss future steps and payment. They did not make me pay for the x-rays they did. Needless to say I found a different, more experienced dentist who told me I had zero signs of decay. I did some research into Aspen Dental and it turns out they are on the radar of the Dental Board for shady practices, like tricking people into thinking they have cavities and need them filled. They gave my daughter a referral a couple months ago for her wisdom teeth to come out, of course the appointment with the oral surgeon was canceled due to COVID. I have no idea where all of the low ratings are coming from. I have had nothing short of an amazing experience while there yesterday and today. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable! I was able to get an appointment the next day (yesterday) and back in today for my cleaning today. I have been to so many dentists in the Tri-State area and I am thrilled to have found this one. No long wait in the waiting room, a detailed explanation of each step before, during and after my appointment, super nice & caring staff, and absolutely no pressure to add any unnecessary procedures are just a few of the things that made these great appointments! Also, the dentist happily filed down a sharp edge of a broken tooth that was cutting into my tongue from a mishap the day before without cost. Where do I start. First I had my very first appointment in September just to see about getting implants, I was there for 5 hours before the Dr. came in to see me and was with me a whole 10 min. Second, I had a appointment for a cleaning that went really good. Then in October we started the bone graft, then things went down hill, they started cancelling my appointments some I were all ready in the parking lot. Finally I got one more appointment, never really new what the appointment was for, but this was for a cleaning with this I could have brushed and floss my teeth at home. It just wasn't right. They would not call you back if you called. So finally I get my implants in on June 13 2023 and they were going to do my impressions on July 12 and before my appointment one of my caps fell out and here I am with no front teeth and these giant caps that didn't fall out. My dental insurance changed at the first of the year. My previous dentist was out of network and I was forced to find a new provider. After some research I found Aspen Dental in Newport. It was close and seemed convenient. On my first visit after receiving X rays I sat in my chair unattended for over thirty minutes. After I finally got someone's attention I was acknowledged and was visited by the dentist. He was hurried and mentioned to me how crazy it was in the office that morning. He then preceded to lay out a plan to which I agreed. I agreed because I had a plan of action with my prior dentist and had spent many hours in his chair along with thousands of dollars. I mentioned my delay to the staff on exit of the office and I was offered a 25% discount. Hooray right- that is a substantial discount. I know the work that had to be done and was willing to move forward with it but I wanted to get my teeth cleaned. On a second visit I was examined by the hygienist and was told I need another deep cleaning-very expensive. I had just had this procedure done 3 1/2 months earlier. Their new insistence is that they could do no more work until this cleaning was done. It took the office over two weeks to get me this answer. I finally got it when I called the office for the third time. The office was ready to move forward with a crown and fillings without doing this deep cleaning. Those procedures are expensive and I do need them. They were unable to continue with the work that was provided by my previous dentist. It had to start from scratch. Again I just had this same procedure 3 1/2 months ago.Of course they are unable to do the cleaning which is 100% covered by my insurance and is relatively inexpensive. My experience here is that the office is not prompt and seems to be in a sort of "cash grab" mode. The lack of attention and sense of greed I felt there is very distasteful and I would not recommend this office to anyone. read more

This place is just a meat market that only cares about the money. First you pay before anything is even looked at or decided upon. You don't make it past the front receptionist without paying. On my last visit they said I would need a deep cleaning and it would require two appointments. They charged me an extra $169.00 and the hygienist spent 15 minutes trying to get the equipment working and then only 10 minutes "cleaning" one side of my mouth. I show up to today to clean the other half and charged an additional $127.00 before anything is done. My teeth feel no cleaner than before I came in. I will never be back. Instead I will find a private practice that cares about the patients and not just the bottom line. read more

Do not waste your time with Aspen. I started going when I first moved to Cincinnati due to the ease of scheduling (the only pro of this company). I'd go for cleanings regularly. I was a little disappointed that I never saw the same dental hygienist or dentist and I was always charged for services at the start of my appointment before anything was done. This included a fluoride cleaning that is not covered by insurance, which no other dentist office has ever suggested I get. But, I figured it wasn't a huge deal. However, at my appointment this past July, and they were just going on and on about how bad my teeth and gums were. They had me in tears thinking my dental health was in such terrible shape and then took me into an office to discuss finances. Based on their oral exam and x-ray findings taken over a year ago, they told me I needed $9,000 worth of dental procedures. I didn't understand how I suddenly needed such urgent and expensive dental care. Furthermore, I had mentioned that I wanted to seek orthodontia care in the near future, and they highly advised me against it until I could have all of this dental work done. They let me leave without the receiving the fluoride cleaning I had paid for since they charge you at the beginning of your appointment. I was so emotional, I forgot I had already paid and had to call to arrange a reimbursement. I gathered my information from Aspen and then sought out a second opinion from a local, experienced dentist. Turns out, I just needed a filling. When I mentioned all the other dental work Aspen said I needed, my new dentist said it was all, AT MOST, elective procedures. Nothing was urgent or worth causing financial stress. My dentist also said there was no reason to hold off on orthodontia care. I will never go back to Aspen. My dental health is on track and I am feeling great without corporate Aspen Dental. Although scheduling appointments was convenient at first, it was not worth all the time and tears I wasted in their office that day. I have a busy schedule, but was willing to start over and find a new dentist that I trusted. My advice: AVOID ASPEN. Go to a local, private practice. But if you do go to Aspen, when they start claiming you need all this dental work, don't hesitate to get a second opinion. You will probably find that you don't need nearly as much as they say you do. read more
