I started the dental implant process about a month ago and paid for a consultation. After meeting…read morewith the surgeon, I was taken to the finance office to discuss my treatment options. Since I was considering spending approximately $25,000 on extractions and a full bottom arch, I asked Crystal if I could see physical models of the acrylic and zirconia options. She told me they did not have models available and that, in her nine years working there, no one had ever asked to see the difference. I found that difficult to believe. When making such a significant financial and medical decision, I think it is reasonable to want to see and understand exactly what you are purchasing. I told Crystal i would suggest to the surgeon next time I see him that they should consider having models (maybe help out the next person that asks). Crystal said, "Instead of mentioning this to the doctor, let me see what I can do". Great! Two weeks before my pre-op appointment, I called to confirm that a zirconia model would be available and asked whether I could speak with the surgeon again before moving forward because I had a couple more questions. I was assured that both would be possible and that the zirconia model would definitely be there. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told the lab had conveniently called just the day before and said that a model would not be available for at least three weeks because they would have to make one. The last-minute change, right before I was expected to move forward with a $25,000 procedure, left me feeling uneasy. Felt like a bait-and-switch because these people know what it takes just to get us to this point of doing a major procedure like this. It felt like an intentional lie. You mean to tell me that the "lab" didn't tell you this a month ago when you called for the zerconia model?! Trust is extremely important when choosing a team to extract several teeth and perform full-arch implant surgery. I ultimately decided to cancel because I no longer felt comfortable moving forward. When I explained this to one of the assistants, her response felt completely indifferent. That interaction confirmed that I was making the right decision. I then contacted another implant facility in Longview. They had multiple models available--including acrylic, zirconia, snap-on, and fixed options--and were able to clearly show and explain the differences. They can also move forward with my treatment as early as this week, whereas I waited weeks just for a pre-op appointment at Pinnacle. I do want to acknowledge that I appreciated the surgeon's bedside manner during my original consultation. Unfortunately, the lack of transparency, poor communication, last-minute change, and the staff's response caused me to lose confidence in moving forward with such a major procedure.

Do NOT let Dr. Travis Kendall do your dentures, unless you're going for a "long-in-the-tooth"…read morehorse-esque look. Dr. Kendall took over the dental practice of Dr. Dowd in Tyler when Dr. Dowd passed away. My aunt was already scheduled for a full set of upper and lower dentures with Dr. Dowd, so this is how she ended up being a patient of Dr. Kendall's. The upper set of dentures he did for her were absolutely awful. They were so long they changed the shape of my aunt's face because she can't even close her mouth completely around them. When she made her dissatisfaction known to Dr. Kendall about her dentures being too long his response was "well, if you got a boob job wouldn't you want them out to show off?". He also told her he would absolutely not alter her dentures in any way for her. Whatever happened to customer satisfaction? People go to this man hoping to improve their lives with a new set of teeth. He has a responsibility to each patient to make sure they are happy with their smile when they leave him. I don't understand how he could seriously look at these teeth and confidently tell himself he did a good job. Dr. Kendall, you owe my aunt an apology. Really, you owe her a new set, but you especially owe her an apology. I will make sure to post this review everywhere I possibly can so that other people can have fair warning that even after spending thousands of dollars you still may end up unhappy with their smile

My goodness, I love this place. I just recently moved back to Texas and unknowingly thought that…read more*any* dentist would be as good as the next, right? Wrong. I actually had to get a second opinion from Texas Sedation Dental & Implant center because the dentist I saw previously for a routine cleaning, tried to tell me that I had 4 cavities! Mind you, I've had less than 5 cavities my entire life, so to have 4 was just simply crazy. Everyone from the doctors to the receptionists and everyone in between are the friendliest people I've met since moving back to East Texas, they really want to provide the best care possible for ALL of their patients. I can't wait to get to know everyone who works there. The technology they have for x-rays, implants, fills and just about anything you could imagine is all top notch and very convenient. The doctors and nurses even take the time to explain every procedure and want to make sure that you're comfortable in every situation. Long way around the barn, Texas Sedation & Dental Implant Center is probably the best dental care you could ask for in East Texas! They make what used to be a dreaded dental trip, something that I look forward to twice a year. Thanks everyone!!
