Where do I begin. Went to then at the end of August 2023 . Was told I needed the deep cleaning with meds , my wisdom teeth out , and two crowns done. They wanted to jam all these visits into 4 visits! FOUR !! They quoted me at like 2500, and I took out a care credit loan (paid in full as of August 27th 2024) At my first visit (8/31/2023 they did the deep cleaning (1,337.00) My second visit 09/05/2024 they did half my mouth the meds for perio (1,318.00) Third visit 09/11/2024 (640.00)other half of my mouth with meds and temporary crowns for the two that needed done . They did this even though I told them I couldn't afford to pay for the permanent crown until into the new year. DID YOU KNOW temporary crowns are only supposed to stay in your mouth for two weeks? I had no idea . 4th visit 09/12/2024 (2,814.00) got 3 of my wisdom teeth removed. They did an xray after , and after I had been home for over an hour calls me and tells me I need to come back in because they found a WIRE in my gums from when the dentist put my temporary crown in on 09/11/2024. The oral surgeon removed it and said I had an infection and put some meds on it. ( that is when I should've started to raise hell but was was coming off of being under and didn't think to say anything ) they then sent me home and I proceeded to have the worst pain of my entire life . Like nobody can describe oral pain. I went back in mutiple times and the dentist would not listen to me . So I went to Altoona Smiles (Dr. Daniel's is amazing and I recommend him so much) He doesn't understand why they'd even put a temporary crown let alone two in my mouth when I said I couldn't afford the pertinent until the new year. So guess what I had to go ahead and pay for those temporary's to be redone by Altoona smiles and then two weeks following get my permanent's in. I am now a patient permanently with Altoona Smiles . I recently got a message from a debt collector for Aspen. Apparently my claims with them all denied and they had never called me to tell me . Altoona did after my first visit and my insurance company fixed the issue and reprocessed the claims . That is literally all they needed to do. Aspen didn't and now after talking with my dental insurance they will do everything in their power to get those claims from 2023 reprocessed . Moral of the story is Aspen Dental just thinks of you as cows going through the slaughter house. They truly do not care about you . Always check reviews, before making an appointment. Hopefully this review saves some people the pain and suffering . I now have major anxiety with dental care , but my dentist understands and knows how to handle with care . I DO NOT RECOMMEND. They DOUBLE BOOKED my appointment and told me I needed to reschedule . I called Aspen Dental (SE 14th St- Des Moines, IA) on Thanksgiving morning due to a crown popping off. The representative scheduled an appointment for 8:15am on Friday. She took my name, phone number and email address. I arrived at 8am on Friday and was advised they had accidentally double booked my appointment slot and I would need to reschedule since there was only one dentist in the office that day. The receptionist was unapologetic for the double booking. What was even more frustrating...they were aware of the double booking but neglected to call, text or email me advising me of their error. They charged me more a than Aetna said they would. They will make an appointment for you without your permission. You get notified of an appointment and you can confirm online but have to call to cancel. If you call you get voicemail. You will have to call several times to talk to someone. The communication is bad in that they do not tell you what the appointment is for. They took way too many x-rays which were not necessary. I've never received a bill, they just said that I owe more money. The turnover in that office is high and for a good reason. If you don't have an appointment the wait time is hours. read more

Been with them since 2020. Would not recommend. I had originally scheduled my yearly cleaning in October. Which had to be rescheduled to November, which was then scheduled to early December, then late December and then Rescheduled again to late January. (Keep in mind insurance only covers cleaning so many times per year, so I missed this appointment.) I just received another message stating they had to reschedule again. Their cancelling and rescheduling also happened in 2021. (which I had assumed was a one time fluke) Their actual services to me when I've actually gotten treated were average so I can't recommend or berate them for that though. I am switching providers. They made me miss cut short my Christmas trip and have rescheduled a grand total of 5 times in the last 3 months. If you choose here, best of luck to you. read more

I should have written a proper review, but think when I first reviewed this place, I was so upset I couldn't think straight. I even had grammatical errors!!! Aspen Dental, both in Des Moines, IA AND in Lees Summit, MO have given me nightmares. Literally. Two years ago, I went to Aspen in Des Moines for full dentures. Chemo and radiation ruined all my dental work and dentures seemed the inly solution. They sold me the best dentures they have. Guaranteed for 10 yrs they said. I bought the snap on posts that are screwed into your jawbone and the dentures snap on, never requiring paste or adhesives. Well, in the course of two years, each post has come loose-painfully horrible experience for all 10 posts; and each has pulled out of my jawbone. Aspen promised they would fix any posts that came out after they started coming loose. However, when I attempted to get it corrected, they said "no ". They did refund me $800 for one post that fell out; the first one, but the other 9 were a total loss and they refused to either replace or reimburse me the $800 for EACH one. The other thing they guaranteed...I was moving to Kansas soon. They said any Aspen Dental in the country would honor the guarantee and give me unlimited adjustments at no charge for the 10 years - it was supposedly part of the price of my $10,000 dentures. After I moved, and two more posts fell out, I had two posts left in my mouth. Both were loose. One was hot; meaning excruciatingly painful. Aspen in Lees Summit, MO refused to remove the posts, even though they were causing me horrific pain. They said I had to take pain killers and wait for them to fall out. I went home, distraught in pain because one of the posts was just so loose but hurting my jawbone. I couldn't even touch my gums with my tongue it hurt so badly. I ended up using a mini pliers and pulling the screw out myself to finally relieve the pain! I called Aspen again in Lees Summit after both remaining posts fell out, ti have reliner put in so my dentures would fit and they would secure well with adhesive. To my surprise, they offered to do it at no additional cost, apparently a service still covered by my 10 yr guarantee. Unfortunately they did a slapshot job, the dentures hurt afterwards, and I ended up removing the liner they put in, found DENTURE RELINE - a product made to reline your dentures yourself, and made my own properly fitting reliners. Now, all these months later, I make my own reliners every month. I use adhesive now to secure them. I have to pay to see a denture specialist to have the dentures refitted properly because they are very loose. I WILL NEVER again seek the assistance of Aspen Dental ANYWHERE for any work on my dentures. Oh yes, I almost forgot. I called corporate as well as the regional supervisor to try to get them to honor their guarantee, and after 8 calls attempted (with voicemails left) no one ever returned my calls. read more

Went to this Dentistry because i wanted to get in as soon as possible as my primary dentistry was booked. Got an examination and teeth cleaned. During the examination the dentist insisted that i get a tooth pulled today (a baby tooth that wasn't causing any problems. Wasn't infected or anything). His reasoning was that it will start to hurt soon. Proceeded to tell me that he wants to pull it today and start a dental implant. I was not interested as i was quoted around $5,000 for that and the tooth wasn't causing problems. He kept pushing anyways. Even the "Treatment plan lady" which isn't a dentist insisted i get it pulled and kept giving me costs and asking when I'd like to do it. I literally walked out because i was annoyed. 2 months later i receive in the mail a bill for $17 from this location and a notice saying this was the last letter before it goes to a debt collector. I call and ask and they said they have no records of an owed payment of $17. She said "i can take the payment anyways if you'd like". Of course you can. The way i looked at it is this location obviously doesn't have their stuff together so i paid the $17 even though she said she has no records of me owing that. On two occasions this facility tried to charge me for cleanings that my ins had previously payed. THEY WANTED CASH FROM ME..We called my ins company and aspin quickly backed down on each occasion. Also the doc tried to fix a tooth that had no prob he eventually agreed that the tooth had no problems. The straw that broke it was when the doc stated he was going to knock a stain off but went ahead and continued to drill and fill. Front tooth and now I'm having trouble with it. SCARY read more

Went here because I had a broken molar. I read the reviews, and did a little internet research before going. Receptionist was very nice when I went to see if I could get in right away (says walk-ins and emergency welcome) but was told that I would have to go elsewhere or make an appointment. I opted for the appointment time since it was the next day. When I was taken to the exam area, the dentist, Dr Joe was very personable. He introduced another dentist ( I'm guessing she was a student or new to the Aspen dental group) and asked about how I was doing and why I was there. There was no judgement, and I hadn't been to a dentist in years. Had xrays done and Dr Joe went over them with me and explained about theextraction I needed, answered questions I had and then they checked for periodontal disease. So far, so good. Here's why I only gave 3 stars... The sales pitch, the attempt to up sell. An extraction at $153.00 all of a sudden turned into a $12,000 + restoration project and they tried to sell me a $130 toothbrush. And then there was the attempt to have me apply for C.A.R.E financial help. At least I was prepared for all of this because of my research before. I just held firm that all I need at the moment was to take care of my broken molar. After that, seemed like I got a little bit of the cold shoulder. My only other issue was there was absolutely no aftercare instructions. No extra pieces of gauze sent home, nothing. So I had to research what to do and what not to do for an extraction. Pain at injection sites seems worse than the exposed socket. Dr Joe was very nice, and did a great job, but I could have done without the sales pitch. I guess that should be expected at a corporate dental group. Just realized after getting home... They charge you more than what you owe, labeled as a credit on paperwork and in a follow-up text as a deposit to be used toward your next visit. Very deceiving and wrong! read more

I had came in for some fillings. EVERY SINGLE TOOTH they worked on I have either had it extracted or required a root canal. One of the dentists who worked on my teeth even said his vision wasn't well and had to close one eye to see appropriately. I should've turned away then. I now am paying nearlY $10,000 to correct what has been done with FOUR root canals and a bridge to replace my missing tooth. I have been traumatized by this place and now owe them $1500 in bills for teeth I lost. I've actually walked out of their facility balling my eyes out because of how traumatic the whole experience was. Is this normal to lose all of yoUr teeth when coming in for fillings? read more

I would give this dental office zero stars. We went to the SE 14th location. They are more interested in "up selling" you and taking your money than in your dental issues. Once they have your money - they are on to the next sucker. They treated my husband last year. When we went in for the surgery visit, they wanted $1,000. more money than the estimate they gave, we paid cash up front and they wanted more! He had all his teeth removed and dentures made. After many, many trips in for adjustments, his dentures still do not fit and he hasn't been able to eat anything more than soft foods in almost a year. I would not recommend anyone going there for any reason. They have no BBB rating at all! We should have checked them out more thoroughly before going there and we will always regret it. read more
