I want to preface this review by stating that I'm writing this on behalf of my girlfriend, who scheduled an emergency dental appointment at this business on a Monday for a bad tooth ache. We are based out of Tuscaloosa, so we drove an hour and a half one way to ensure we got her dental care for the problem on an emergency basis. We arrived at the dental office to find a note taped to their door stating that the dentist was out of office for the day for a family emergency. The receptionist, who was subtly rude and very curt, scheduled an appointment for the next day. We found later that they had texted us 5 minutes before the appointment date to let us know it needed to be rescheduled. While I can certainly sympathize with family emergencies, the unapologetic attitude of the receptionist was unappreciated. The next day we came to our appointment. Same attitude problem from the receptionist, but she finally got to see a dentist. She waited for probably 45 minutes after being called back, then finally had her teeth examined. Their prognosis was incredible. They claimed that her wisdom teeth had yet to come in yet, despite 2 of them having already broken through the gums. They doubled down and denied it despite her telling them they're there. They told her she would need multiple root canals and numerous cavities that needed to be done as soon as possible. They also said that they would likely need to pull multiple of her molars, as they probably weren't savable with root canals. "There was no saving them." They also pushed and pushed that she needs their own brand of Invisalign braces, which were an exorbitant amount of money. They also pushed gum treatments. The culmination of this Invisalign discussion was verbatim, "if you don't start these treatments, in the next five years you will need to have a full set of dentures," all but saying she will lose all her teeth. We, after receiving two exorbitant quotes of over $10k for services, naturally went and got a second opinion from a local dentist where we found that: 1. Her wisdom teeth are (shockingly) coming in, one needs to be pulled asap. 2. She has a couple cavities that need to be filled. 3. She needs a single root canal. The difference between the two dental exams is shocking and, frankly, speaks clearly to both the disgusting corporate greed this "corporate dentistry" has and the unabashed ignorance of the dentists and dental assistants employed at Aspen Dental in Cullman. This is a clear case of professional misconduct, and, frankly, strikes me as almost insurance fraud, especially if we had went through with their "treatment program." The pressure to upsell small treatments to a full program without justification is patient deception. This dentistry is, to put it plainly, a sham full of inept, fear-mongering, bad-faith employees that predate on the people of Alabama. Needless to say, do not go to this dentistry. read more

I recommend you do not go to this dentist. If you must, get a list of all services they will perform, covered and uncovered by insurance, and file for payment. My son went for a cleaning and was later billed for about three hundred bucks. Fancy names of services and some claims of administered medications ran the bill up. Most services they charged were not covered. The insurance company said there was a charge for $44 for what amounted to mouthwash. They overcharge for services that are not covered and if you don't pay them, then of course you get a bad reputation. This business is ethically bankrupt. This place is a place to avoid to be honest. A few super nice people. But high prices and some people were very rude and even mean to play games. They said we had periodontal disease and charged us about $2000.00 to clean our teeth with zero cavities. And some mean lady that welcomes you and hardly never smiles said my wife called and said she was running late. And if we weren't there by a Certain time they would reschedule And that wasn't true. Dr Hardy, Jordan & Shirley was awesome. I hope they have their own office. Very sad this happens. Some Aspen dentals have been good. It didn't seem like they tried to improve instead some games were happening so we decided best to leave and find somewhere we were appreciated. We did!!! My son is special needs. This office took advantage of him. I made calls to find out from other dentist in the area that this is Nothing new. He is currently awaiting a refund from a fraudulent procedure they said he needed. We made an appointment with a LEGITIMATE dental practice and won't be coming back for the second part of this scam. They owe him money and told him twice it would be refunded. We are currently waiting in their lobby and being ignored. Go somewhere else for your care. They don't care about you here. Just lied to me saying it was done. I'm insisting on a receipt. Called two days after this was supposed to be credited and Sarah said it hadn't been done. I'm glad I didn't get taken by this office. Update 9.19.23 - my son has still not received his refund. $132 is due to him. This place is an epic ripoff. I notice their established apologist has replied here. You must be so tired of this. The office staff is rude, condescending and uncaring. They "diagnosed" me with needing thousands of dollars in treatments, charged my insurance company and took my money. Now they continue to "reschedule" my appointments each time they come up. This has been going on for 3 months with 4 visits canceled last minute by them. Each time it's a different issue for the practice and always last minute. If you're in pain needing treatment, I cannot recommend them, they are the worst. read more

The Cullman location will not answer my calls nor return any of my calls. Looks like they are NOT HAPPY TO MAKE US SMILE! All I need is the lower dental implant added to my new set of dentures. I guess it's to much to ask. If I need to have my dentures finished by a different dentist office I will contact my local news channel. I'm sure AD won't answer their calls either. I've been calling several times a week during their hours of operation. I've been recording all of my calls to them and not deleting my call record on my phone for the calls I make/made. There's no excuse for their behavior. Was a patient for over 2 years - had a tooth removed (and so many pieces left in makes it hard to fit a denture) and had an upper denture made. My husband has stage 4 cancer so all the MANY delays were not really all their fault. Got every thing ready and had an upper plate made. In fact they made three!! None fit right, the temporary plate did so I'm still wearing it. I paid them over $3,000.00. When I went back to get the temporary relined, after I had wore it for 1 1/2 years, the girl said they can't reline it. I said sure you can, you've done it before. She wasn't happy and went to the manager who told her to reline it. When she did she slopped it on and had several holes in it, really bad that all the food I eat gets caught in the holes. Went there for over a year and got no real work done. Every 3 months they had me in there doing maintenance for an issue it seems they diagnose everyone with. Finally stopped when they couldn't process my payment method because after over a year, it supposedly only covers procedures that are within 30 days apart. I was in Aspen Dental a few days ago. Very disappointed. Not friendly at all . I felt very rushed in every thing that was done. The ladys in back xray was nice but rushed. The one who looked at x-rays and called out numbers just flew thru mouth l even commented why so fast . The Dr. Came in and did not I trounce herself l finally told her my name and she looked at me like l don't really care what your name is . The nicest person was the office manager. He was a keeper. The prices extremely high. There was no sense of real caring. Except office manager. My dentist does not do what l needed or l would have been there.l have been in pain for days. read more

not real happy with aspen dental right now , I went in on 2-3-23 and got scanned for my permanent dentures and they said come back on 2-17 23 for the fitting. When I went back on the 17th I set and waited until the lady at the desk asked me what are you here for, I told her and she said I dont have a appointment for you, so after a little bit she comes back and says someone called on the 3rd and canceled the appointment, I told her I was here on the 3rd and the appointment you people made for me on the 3rd, so I waited, she comes back and told me your dentures are not here, I asked where are they and when will they be here, I got we dont know we will call you when they get them. Now here we are a month later and no calls, no dentures, and also no one returning my calls. You would think that after paying $5700 dollars for partial dentures you might get treated better, I guess not, I'm going to call one more time to let them make this right before I find another dentist and a attorney to get my money back. Aspen Dental has been a God send for me. My teeth, what few I had left, were in really bad shape. Not from neglect, just bad genes I guess. I called for an appointment and was able to go the next week for an evaluation. After this I was able to schedule a time to have the necessary extractions done and have temporary upper and lower dentures made. My dentist is Dr. Pruitt, a real character and great dentist. He made me feel at ease from the time we met and handled 13 extractions with no problem. My temporaries fit great and the staff are a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend Aspen Dental in Cullman, Alabama to anyone needing dental work. They listen and they want to help. They have my business from now on. read more

Rip Off!!! Only there for the first appointment to add up as many unnecessary charges as possible! Told my husband he had periodontal disease when in fact he only needed a root canal. Let's just say I left with less teeth in my mouth then when I came into the office on 12/13/16. I was coming in because of the pain I was having on the lower right side and I needed to have cleaning done; got the appt, came in. I had already explain that I wanted to get as much work done as possible to the semi-blonde headed girl. I wanted 062206431. done before my husbands insurance ended on 12-31-16. Sure, sure we could have it done, I told her I am ready to get the work done and what was the totals. I brought in inc information that showed my coverages, had it faxed over to the office the whole nine yards, because they were in-net work. Get there, I don't get a cleaning. "Oh your insurance covers a lot, ( I know that). This is what you will have to pay out of pocket, I paid the $780; was to cover the 1st bridge I was to have done on 12/22 ( really bridge prep), in all I was told in was to have 3 bridges, 2 crowns. Well I talked to the assistant more than the doctor, not good. I wanted to have braces. That was never brought up. In comes the hygieneist, (Katie) making all these faces while she talks and looks at you. I had to ask her "why are you making so many faces) (Don't they not understand the patients looking right back at you? I can see your facial expressions) Beth did the X-rays. Felicia was the (DA) that day, the hygieneist said that she wanted to see if I had perdonstis disease (which it don't). I had a 2nd request by another Dr) she gave a Me an antibiotic for it. (all while make faces, like something smelled in the room). Dr Kirkendall, was something else. She spoke softly, told something about having the crowns, bridges etc, never ask me was there something else I might looking to get? Just what she saw I should get. So, could we get the all done before 12/3/16, she said that I would have to talk to the front. I left that day thinking maybe we could a great set of teeth. NOT!!! I had a 1 or 2 pm appt I got out of there around 6pm. Seriously. (Part 1) . Day 2: 12/22/16 I came in 9am stayed all Day 9-1 pm, 2-4( I didn't get out of there until 5 or so. I was in pain, pain I got stuck 11 times in my mouth. I had abou 2or 3 teeth sawed done for the prep/ bridge, which I was asking, when do they come back, "oh it takes 14days." Can there be a rush, yes I was told, them another said it depends. Well, I had a baby tooth that needed a filling, but the kirkendall, was wanting to put a bridge there. A day later I thought to myself, Two weeks!! Will everything really be ready to fit in my mouth, so my smile will look better? ( the temporary the came out the next day) Felicia did the corrects on the tooth, she was shaking a lot, inas her way do you shake like that, she said she always shake.....you molding my tooth. The tooth set too high, just like the one in the front then did it a couple to times, adjust it. With your naked eye anyone could see that the tooth was too long, they had to sand down my flipper for a natural tooth. I explained to the doc what I had experience with other doctors and it seems after all is said and done... I here getting the treatment I have experienced before only worst. I did pat go to see for this, you people did, no one has taken responsibility for what happen, no one was really sorry. I want my mouth fixed right and you need to fix it.!!!!!!!! I would recommend Aspen for partials and dentures because that's their specialty. They work fast and they produce quality products. Aspens prices seem to be competitive if not cheaper than other dentist before they specialize in dentures and partials. The office I use in Cullman does usually run behind or slow. Most office visits takes 2 hours. read more
